"Jiao Xi, this bastard, to put me to death, he actually didn’t hesitate to betray the interests of the Divine Sect! And with both families involved, Yua Hanjing, this poisonous woman, intends to put me in a place of certain death!"
After reading the contents of the green jade talisman, Ye Zhen clenched his teeth so hard they made a grinding noise. Luckily, he had killed Liu Hong and intercepted this jade talisman; otherwise, being in the Divine Sect this month would be no different from falling into a venomous pit!
There wasn’t much recorded in the green jade talisman, just a detailed map of Moonlight Hall, including five different routes on how to enter it.
What was most fatal was not these, but an extremely detailed Defense Map—the Defense Map of the inside and outside of Moonlight Hall within the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, including those few routes to enter.
It indicated where there were obvious guards and hidden agents, change of guard times, including the patrol range of the guards in the sky, and even the blind spots of the guards were marked on the Defense Map.
All of this pointed directly to Moonlight Hall!
If someone got this jade scroll, as long as their cultivation wasn’t too weak, they could easily break into Moonlight Hall as if entering a place devoid of people. Even if three to five people teamed up, they could easily invade!
Ye Zhen finally understood what Jiao Xi meant by wanting to take a share of the consequences—it was to partially leak this month’s Defense Map of the Sun and Moon Divine Sect.
As the Defense Map for this month within the main temple of the Sun and Moon Divine Sect was arranged by Third Commander Jiao Xi, it made sense that Liu Hong could obtain such an accurate Defense Map.
Quickly, Ye Zhen checked another green jade talisman, and after doing so, his face instantly turned ashen.
It was identical; again, it was an identical Defense Map.
Now, Ye Zhen was certain who the other green jade talisman was intended for—it was definitely for Ye Zhen’s enemy, Stars Tower Master Yan Cong.
As long as Yan Cong or Duan Yingnian got these two jade talismans, dealing with Ye Zhen would be as easy as reaching into a bag; if they dispatched a strong expert, they could even make Ye Zhen die silently and inexplicably!
"Fortunately ..."
Upon this thought, Ye Zhen’s back was immediately soaked with cold sweat.
However, just because Ye Zhen had intercepted Liu Hong and this Defense Map didn’t mean this matter could end here. With Jiao Xi’s status as a Divine Guard Commander, he could produce several Defense Maps at any time and send someone to pass them on.
If that happened, unless Ye Zhen left the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, there wouldn’t be any safe place for him within the sect.
"If that’s the case, then I’m too passive; I must strike back!"
Whoosh!
The sound of Sword Gang breaking through the air suddenly rang out from behind Ye Zhen. Lost in thought, Ye Zhen was startled and immediately rolled to the side, avoiding the Sword Gang that had attacked from behind.
Bang!
The Sword Gang fiercely struck the ground, spraying up countless clods of earth!
A middle-aged martial artist with a fierce face and holding a long sword looked at Ye Zhen, who had avoided the attack, with a hint of surprise in his eyes, but quickly, his eyes shone with ferocity again!
"Boy, hand over your storage ring, and I’ll spare your life today!"
At these words, Ye Zhen first paused, then laughed.
It turned out he had encountered a robber just because he had taken a more remote path; the attack had gone from a stealthy one to an outright robbery!
"What are you laughing at! Hand it over now, or I’ll smash you into meat paste on the spot!" the middle-aged martial artist shouted fiercely.
"If I were you, I’d run as far as I could right now!" Ye Zhen suddenly burst into laughter.
The middle-aged martial artist looked around uneasily, "Just with you, a Third Stage of the Soul Sea Realm martial artist? I have a Fourth Stage of the Soul Sea Realm cultivation, and I can crush you in a moment. Do you hand it over or not?"
Ye Zhen slowly shook his head!
"Damn it, you’re looking for death!"
With an angry shout, the Thunderclap-like Sword Gang rose again, but just as it was about to fall, it dissipated, and a bloody hole appeared on his forehead.
A Soul Sea Realm martial artist reduced to street robbery, his cultivation could be imagined. Since he deemed it fit to murder for robbery, then Ye Zhen had to take his life in return.
After taking care of the robbing martial artist, Ye Zhen stepped towards the direction of the Sun and Moon Divine Sect with an easy gait.
Just now, Ye Zhen had already thought of a way to strike back. As long as this method was successfully implemented, although it wouldn’t solve everything once and for all, in the short term, Yua Hanjing and Jiao Xi wouldn’t be able to pose a threat to Ye Zhen anymore.
Especially this method of leaking the Defense Map and the map of Moonlight Hall to Ye Zhen’s enemies, it basically wouldn’t work anymore.
One could say that Ye Zhen was a bit inspired by the robbing martial artist.
If the covert approach didn’t work, then Ye Zhen would take a direct approach!
Fortunately, the body of Sun and Moon Divine Guard Third Guard captain Liu Hong, which Ye Zhen had brought on a whim earlier, proved useful.
Of course, before putting it to use, Ye Zhen had to modify Liu Hong’s body a bit first, at least to cover up the fatal wounds on the body.
After all, the finger hole in the forehead was too noticeable, as well as the marks of Heavenly Thunder all over the body had to be dealt with; Ye Zhen certainly didn’t want any possible suspicion on him after Liu Hong’s death was revealed.
After a while, Ye Zhen finished preparing. He changed Liu Hong’s clothes, and as for the finger hole in the forehead, Ye Zhen dealt with it simply.
A slice with a sword to remove most of the head would do, of course, while still making the body recognizably Liu Hong.
After making all the preparations, Ye Zhen, using the Defense Map recorded in the jade talisman by Jiao Xi, donned the Hundred Transformations Thousand Shadows Robe and easily avoided the guards to sneak into a somewhat secluded lane in the main temple of the Sun and Moon Divine Sect. After setting everything up, Ye Zhen snuck back out and openly returned to Moonlight Hall of the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, even receiving a few patrols along the way.
However, Ye Zhen had been busy all night, and only now could he say the real beginning had arrived!
After returning to the Spirit Academy of Moonlight Hall, Hundred Herbs’s corpse was still there, which increased Ye Zhen’s anger.
In the next instant, three Jade Talismans flew out from Ye Zhen’s courtyard.
Before long, Feng Qingyue, who was still slightly inebriated, arrived first.
"An assassin has killed your maid, are you alright?" she asked.
"I’m fine, the assassin had already run away by the time I came out!"
"Who would be so vicious as to lay hands on a maid who’s practically a commoner? That’s just too cruel," Feng Qingyue said angrily as she looked at Hundred Herbs’s body.
"However, we need to notify the Sun and Moon Divine Guards about the death of a maid from the Spirit Academy, and the Inner Affairs Hall as well... Never mind, I will send a Dao Talisman Communication for you after daybreak. Did you catch the enemy?"
That was also Ye Zhen’s intention, there needed to be an explanation for a death in his yard that was unaccounted for!
"No!"
This matter concerned Ye Zhen’s life and death, and he lied without hesitation.
"There’s been a death in your yard, do you want to stay at my place for the night?" Feng Qingyue offered with concern.
"No need, I still have that much courage!"
"Alright then, you must be careful these next few days in case the assassin returns!" Feng Qingyue advised before she prepared to leave.
"Qingyue, could you trouble yourself to go to the Inner Affairs Hall tomorrow and entrust these one thousand Low Grade Spirit Crystals to Hundred Herbs’s family as some consolation?" Ye Zhen said.
Feng Qingyue hesitated for a moment, then nodded gently, "Alright, I will make sure to handle it personally!"
"Then I am relieved!"
For ordinary people, one thousand Low Grade Spirit Crystals was a tremendous fortune; giving more would not be helping, but harming!
Fifteen minutes later, Tian Guizhang, who had received Ye Zhen’s Talisman Communication, also arrived but with a puzzled expression on his face.
"Ye Zhen, what big event has happened? You asked me to come quickly but then to set off only after 15 minutes, what are you playing at? Oh, your maid?"
"Just another assassin! However, I called you to come after 15 minutes because I wanted to give you something to do," Ye Zhen explained.
Tian Guizhang frowned, "Give me something to do?" This phrase seemed somewhat trivial! A maid had died, but in the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, a maid’s death really didn’t count for much; at most, it would warrant some condolence. If there were any trouble, it would just be a matter of going through the motions.
"What if there was a chance to kick down Jiao Xi, the Third Commander of the Sun and Moon Divine Guards, would you dare to take it?" Ye Zhen suddenly asked, staring straight into Tian Guizhang’s eyes.
"Jiao Xi?" Tian Guizhang was startled.
"To take him down would be difficult!"
"You don’t worry about the difficulty, just tell me if you dare or not?" Ye Zhen inquired.
"If there’s a chance, I’ll surely give him a fierce kick. Jiao Xi has been setting traps for me for years, but the guy is very cautious," Tian Guizhang said, then looked at Ye Zhen suspiciously, "Why, do you have a way?"
Ye Zhen did not answer Tian Guizhang’s question but instead looked towards the distant sky!
There, a blood-colored Talisman Light like a skull head suddenly exploded above the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, glaringly bright against the night sky!
"Hiss, a Punishment Hall Blood Skull Talisman?"
Tian Guizhang took in a sharp breath, "What serious matter has occurred within the sect that would make the Punishment Hall Deacons use the Blood Skull Warning Token!"
The Blood Skull Warning Token was the highest level Warning Talisman of the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, only used when the sect faced the danger of being destroyed; hence Tian Guizhang’s surprise.
Ye Zhen was also taken aback.
Ye Zhen had not expected the Punishment Hall to directly employ the highest level Blood Skull Warning Token; now, there was no way to hide it! It seemed that the leak of the Defense Map was a much more serious matter than he had imagined.
Naturally, it was Ye Zhen who had notified the Punishment Hall!
After joining the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, every Martial Artist was given a one-way Talisman Lead by the Punishment Hall. If someone gravely violated the rules, they could report directly to the Punishment Hall through Talisman Communication, and if the matter was serious, the Punishment Hall Deacons would deploy immediately.
"Ye Zhen, I must leave now!
The Blood Skull Warning Token would not be released unless the sect was in danger of destruction. As a Vice Sect Hierarch, I must rush over immediately! The matter of dealing with Jiao Xi can wait," Tian Guizhang said as his face turned grim, and he soared into the sky, heading toward the Blood Skull Warning Token.
As Ye Zhen watched Tian Guizhang leave, the corners of his mouth rose with an inscrutable smile.
Originally, he had planned to have Tian Guizhang give the matter a push, but the leak of the Defense Map was deemed far more severe by the Punishment Hall than he had imagined.
The next moment, hundreds of lights shot up from various directions of the Sun and Moon Divine Sect, converging toward the location of the Blood Skull Warning Token like meteors, their speed reaching the extreme!
Ye Zhen knew that each of those lights represented one of the Sun and Moon Divine Sect’s high-ranking members.
Now, the matter had blown up! (To be continued. If you like this work, I invite you to vote for it on Qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
