Chapter 282: Chapter 279 Unspeakable Wonder
"Is the rule really that simple?"
After listening to Hai Luoshuang’s explanation, Ye Zhen was utterly astounded. He had thought that the only rule mentioned by Hai Luoshuang would be quite stringent, but to his surprise, it turned out like this.
"It’s just that simple!"
With a smiling face, Hai Luoshuang said, "As I’ve said, Stars Tower doesn’t have any rules that bind people. As for this one, rather than calling it a rule, it’s more appropriate to say it’s a cooperation."
"Cooperation, indeed! Even without this rule, I would still go to Black Dragon Ancient City at the end of the year to compete for a place in the Black Dragon Ranking.
It’s just that I don’t quite understand; why must I stay at Stars Tower’s Main Building for half a month after making it into the Black Dragon Ranking? Could there be some mystery to the rewards of the Black Dragon Ranking?" Ye Zhen asked.
Martial Artists under twenty-seven years of age can compete for a place in the Black Dragon Ranking. Any Martial Artist in Stars Tower under twenty-seven must participate in the competition. If they make it into the Black Dragon Ranking, they need to go to Stars Tower immediately and stay for at least half a month.
Moreover, based on their ranking in the Black Dragon Ranking, those who made it will receive a substantial reward for each day they stay at Stars Tower.
As Hai Luoshuang put it, if someone’s ranking reaches a certain level, the daily rewards could make a Martial Artist at the Soul Sea Realm envious.
"The reward for making it into the Black Dragon Ranking? I can only say, it’s indescribably brilliant!"
"Indescribably brilliant?"
"That’s right. When the time comes, if you manage to make it, you’ll know after experiencing it yourself. To my knowledge, the opening of Black Dragon Ancient City every five years is the most intense competition and battle among young Martial Artists!"
"So, is this rule fine with you?" Hai Luoshuang asked Ye Zhen eagerly.
"No problem at all!"
"Please!"
After Ye Zhen readily agreed, Hai Luoshuang then brought him straight to Star Hall in the Picking Star Inn to complete the ceremony for Ye Zhen’s induction into Stars Tower.
Star Hall is where Stars Tower holds meetings and office work. It’s very imposing. When Ye Zhen arrived, Vice Building Master Yan Kunshan, accompanied by more than a dozen Martial Artists, was already waiting there.
In fact, Stars Tower’s induction ceremony was not as complicated as Ye Zhen imagined. On the contrary, it was very simple.
First, they registered in the Jade Book. Then, Ye Zhen offered a drop of his Origin Essence Blood. On the spot, Stars Tower Master Hai Luoshuang used a Secret Technique to refine an Identity Jade for Ye Zhen. After that, Yan Kunshan explained a few of Stars Tower’s rules, and the ceremony was considered complete. Very simple indeed.
It was as simple as if he were visiting someone’s home.
However, in Ye Zhen’s view, for a loose organization like Stars Tower, if the induction ceremony were too solemn, it might backfire.
As for the few rules of Stars Tower, in Ye Zhen’s view, they were virtually non-existent; there were no constraints whatsoever.
First, the number one rule of Stars Tower took Ye Zhen by surprise: all members of Stars Tower, except for the Tower Master and Deputy Tower Master, were allowed to fight amongst themselves.
In other words, within Stars Tower, members could even fight to the death or rob and kill each other, and Stars Tower wouldn’t impose any restrictions whatsoever.
Second, the Tower Master and Deputy Tower Master of Stars Tower did not have the authority to issue orders to members. Members were also free to directly decline orders from the Tower Master and the Deputy Tower Master.
Even if the Tower Master wanted to give orders, they had to offer compensation to the members and even then, needed to get their consent. However, once they accepted the compensation, they could not withdraw midway or violate the agreement. Otherwise, they would face severe punishment from within Stars Tower.
Third, Stars Tower possessed abundant resources and intelligence, but even the most minor piece of information required members to exchange silver points.
Moreover, within Stars Tower, one could only exchange for different resources or intelligence based on their level.
The levels of Stars Tower members that Ye Zhen was aware of ranged from ordinary members to Meteor, Assistant Star, Star Suppressing, and Main Star. The resources and intelligence ranged from Level 1 to Level 9.
Level 1 was the most common, Level 9 the most precious.
Human Level Cultivation Techniques were considered Level 1 resources, which any ordinary member could exchange for. Lower-grade and Mid-grade Earth Rank Cultivation Technique Manuals were Level 2 resources and required a Meteor ranking to exchange.
The Heavenly Level Lower Grade Divine Power Martial Skill that Ye Zhen bid on at the auction yesterday was available in Stars Tower too. However, Heavenly Level Lower Grade Divine Power Martial Skills were considered Level 4 resources and required the status of a Star Suppressing member to exchange.
What shocked Ye Zhen even more was that Stars Tower also possessed Heavenly Level Middle Grade Divine Power Martial Skills.
To Ye Zhen’s knowledge, even a Great Sect like the Qiyun Sect did not possess Heavenly Level Middle Grade Divine Power Martial Skills. This left him quite astonished. Just how vast was Stars Tower?
In fact, the Spirit Storage Pill that Ye Zhen spent a fortune on at the auction was also available in Stars Tower as a Level 2 resource, which a Meteor member could exchange for.
However, according to Hai Luoshuang, many precious items weren’t available in the Black Dragon Domain’s Stars Branch Building and had to be exchanged directly from Stars Tower’s Main Building, which was quite far from here, making exchanges extremely cumbersome.
In the Black Dragon Domain Stars Tower, members generally accumulated one or two years’ worth of exchange demands before they exchanged with the Main Building in bulk.
Due to the great distance, a massive Teleportation Array had to be activated for the exchange, and the consumption of such an array was massive; each activation cost countless Spirit Crystals.
Consequently, although many rare items could be exchanged, one had to wait some time.
Lastly, and most importantly, the ranks of members within Stars Tower were not determined by Cultivation level but by the total amount of stars points a member had accumulated over time.
To become a Meteor from an ordinary member, one needs at least ten thousand star points; to become an Assistant Star, one needs at least five hundred thousand star points. Moreover, there are distinctions within Meteors and Assistant Stars.
Within Stars Tower, among the Meteors, the seventy-two Meteors are the most prestigious. Among members of the same rank, they enjoy a high degree of priority when exchanging resources or intelligence.
For example, if an ordinary Meteor member and a Meteor ranked seventieth within the seventy-two Meteors are exchanging the same scarce cultivation resource simultaneously, the Meteor within the seventy-two Meteors will undoubtedly be given priority.
Similarly, within the Assistant Stars, the eighteen Auxiliary Stars are the most esteemed, and among the Star Suppressing ranks, the top three are the most revered.
All of this has a very complex yet simple calculation method within Stars Tower.
The ranking of the seventy-two Meteors is not merely about star points. Apart from the contributions to Stars Tower and the amount of star points, there is also the ranking of strength.
It can be said that within Stars Tower, the titles that come with privileges, such as the seventy-two Meteors, eighteen Auxiliary Stars, and the Three Great Guardian Stars, are extremely precious. There are no shortages of bloody incidents each year over these privileged titles.
In the words of Vice Building Master Yan Kunshan, only by becoming one of the seventy-two Meteors will you understand how valuable the privileges they enjoy are.
"Oh, Tower Master Yan, how can one become one of the seventy-two Meteors?" Ye Zhen asked curiously.
"To become one of the seventy-two Meteors, first, the star points must reach at least fifty thousand. Of these fifty thousand star points, at least ten thousand must be obtained from completing missions within the building and not solely from exchanging Spirit Crystals. Second, you need to have joined Stars Tower for at least one year to be eligible to become one of the seventy-two Meteors. The third requirement is cultivation; if you meet the first two conditions and can defeat any one of the seventy-two Meteors, you can replace him as one of the seventy-two Meteors."
As he introduced these rules, Yan Kunshan still wore his deadpan expression, and his gaze towards Ye Zhen was icy cold, as if harboring a grudge.
Listening to Vice Building Master Yan Kunshan up to this point, Ye Zhen felt a sudden urge. He remembered that Hai Luoshuang had promised him that as long as he joined Stars Tower, he would have the status of one of the seventy-two Meteors.
Thinking of this, Ye Zhen’s gaze turned towards Hai Luoshuang.
Without waiting for Ye Zhen to look her way, Hai Luoshuang spoke first.
"Vice Building Master Yan, now that Zheng Fuyun has joined Stars Tower, his internal rank should be determined."
"Internal rank?"
Yan Kun’s expression suddenly turned cold. "He just joined Stars Tower today. Other than an ordinary member, what rank does he want?"
"Could it be that Master Hai wants to vouch for him, allowing him to advance directly to a Meteor?"
"Indeed, I want to vouch for him, but not just for any ordinary Meteor position, but directly within the seventy-two Meteors, ranked sixty-seventh!"
Yan Kun’s expression suddenly froze, and not just his, but even some of the members who had come to witness the occasion seemed to be wearing odd expressions.
After his face stiffened, Yan Kunshan sneered with false laughter, "Master Hai, are you disregarding the rules of Stars Tower? Even if backed by a Tower Master, one can’t just directly advance to the seventy-two Meteors, can they? Besides, Master Hai, the issue of you handing out the Fragrant Pill King’s invitation against the rules has not been resolved yet, and now you want to let a newcomer directly advance to the seventy-two Meteors? If you don’t have a reasonable explanation, I may have to make contact with the Main Building."
"Feel free, I, Hai Luoshuang, do everything in accordance with the rules of the building. If you feel dissatisfied, go ahead and report it to the Main Building."
"Everything in accordance with the building’s rules, what a joke! Do you even have any regard for the rules of Stars Tower?"
"Vice Building Master Yan, you can eat messily, but you can’t just say whatever you want. I, Hai Luoshuang, have always prioritized the rules of the building in my actions. Which part did not follow the building’s rules?" Hai Luoshuang’s face was covered in frost.
"Let’s not talk about now, what about the day before yesterday’s matter with the Fragrant Pill King’s invitation? You owe me an explanation. Someone in the building offered five million taels of gold for the Fragrant Pill King’s invitation, yet you silently gave it away, disregarding the rules of Stars Tower," Yan Kunshan accused.
The arguing between the two clarified the situation for Ye Zhen; it seemed the trouble all started because of him.
"Vice Building Master Yan, the one who wanted to buy the Fragrant Pill King’s invitation was none other than you, wasn’t it? Why hide it?"
"So what if it was me? In the end, you casually handed out the Fragrant Pill King’s invitation to others, breaking the rules of the Tower."
"Who said I casually gave it away? The Fragrant Pill King’s invitation was clearly bought by someone!"
"Bought? Something that I, the Deputy Tower Master, was interested in was actually snapped up by someone else? Then what is the point of my priority in rank within Stars Tower? This is not breaking the rules..."
"Vice Building Master Yan, don’t forget that my priority as Tower Master is higher than yours."
Hearing this, Yan Kun’s expression suddenly froze, "You bought it? How come I was not aware?"
"Do I need to report my actions to you?"
"No need to report, but how do we know that you really bought it?"
Hai Luoshuang glanced sideways with her phoenix eyes towards an elder beside her, who immediately stepped forward and said, "Vice Building Master Yan, there indeed was a transaction from Master Hai the day before yesterday for five million taels of gold, and it has been recorded."
Upon hearing this, Ye Zhen also froze, realizing that was how he got the Fragrant Pill King’s invitation. This favor, indeed, was a large debt.
"This...." Yan Kunshan’s expression instantly became stiff.
"Even if there were no broken rules with the invitation, what about today’s matter? You actually let a brand new member who just joined the building directly become one of the seventy-two Meteors. Isn’t that breaking the rules?" After a moment of surprise, Yan Kunshan again raised an objection. (To be continued.
