The 14th day of the sixth month of the 738th year of Dazhou Jianwu, midnight, in Pingshan Town, Xiyang County, Dongshui County, Lingzhou, as the watchman knocked the watch and went to sleep after the watch, the entire Pingshan Town was completely silent and fell into a slumber.
Occasionally, a few dog barks added a bit of tranquility to the sleeping Pingshan Town.
Eleven black shadows stealthily slipped into Pingshan Town.
"This is the place!"
"The waiter at the tavern ahead, the scholar in the third courtyard from the east, the two clerks at the carriage line, and the owner of the only inn in town, a total of five targets.
These five people may have been secretly stationed here by the Second Route Wind Patrol Envoy. Two per group, eliminate them at fixed points!" The leader in full black clothing ordered in a low voice.
"Yes!"
The many black-clad individuals responded, and then the black-clad leader said again, "Remember, be absolutely careful! It must be done in one fatal blow, never giving them a chance to send out a warning! You must restrain your aura."
"Yes!"
Under the watchful eye of the black-clad leader, ten black-clad figures split into pairs, quickly disappearing into the extremely quiet Pingshan Town.
A few breaths later, an aura of the Realm King Realm flickered in Pingshan Town.
But it was just a fleeting moment, barely appearing before it swiftly vanished.
This fleeting aura caused a trace of anger to suddenly appear in the eyes of the black-clad leader; someone still exposed their aura.
Despite the anger, the black-clad leader immediately rose to mid-air, hiding in the sky, his eyes sweeping like an eagle over the entire Pingshan Town.
If anyone was awakened by the aura of the Realm King Realm just now, he would immediately take action to kill.
Fortunately, that fleeting aura wasn’t enough to draw the attention of Martial Artists cultivating within Pingshan Town.
Moreover, the Martial Artists cultivating in Pingshan Town generally didn’t have high cultivation.
Over a hundred breaths later, the ten black-clad figures who had left just now gradually returned, and each reported to the black-clad leader with their eyes before gathering behind him.
The last two returning black-clad figures appeared somewhat fearful.
But just one dissatisfied glance from the black-clad leader made the two black-clad figures kneel halfway in fright.
"Lord, it’s not that this subordinate was careless, it’s just that I didn’t expect that the scholar himself only had the cultivation of the Seventh Stage of Divine Communication Realm, but his wife turned out to be a Martial Artist of the Dark Palace Realm First Stage, forcing me to use full force once."
The leader’s icy gaze softened slightly, nodding slowly, "It’s an understandable reason, but you know the rules at home, only results matter, not the process!
When the task is over, go receive your punishment!"
Upon hearing this, that black-clad figure relaxed slightly, "Thank you, Lord, for the leniency."
"Is everything clean?"
"Lord, it’s all clean, and everyone else in those houses has been completely cleared."
"Good, then send the signal!"
In the next moment, a black-clad figure responded and threw out a long-blazing talisman light, which soared into the sky.
"Retreat!"
After a few breaths, those eleven black-clad figures vanished without a trace, just like when they arrived.
Less than half a quarter-hour after the black-clad figures disappeared, a surging Evil Qi came sweeping from afar, startling the dogs and various beasts in Pingshan Town into wild calls.
This disturbance awakened the sleeping citizens of Pingshan Town.
However, those awakened were greeted by monstrous and fiercely terrifying Demon Clan troops.
With Bone Demons, Snake Demons, and Double-headed Demons, each of these demons was towering, and some citizens were so scared they froze just by taking a glance.
Let alone the shockingly powerful combat power erupted by these demons; the leading Double-headed Demon emitted the aura of the Realm King Realm.
Massacre!
A one-sided, brutal massacre!
In less than half a quarter-hour, this small town with thousands of inhabitants was awash with blood, littered with dead bodies and severed limbs.
The entire Ping’an Town was nearly slaughtered to extinction.
A Snake Demon, grinning wickedly, walked towards the vegetable cellar in the woodshed of each courtyard. The Snake Demon had clearly seen the male owner of this small courtyard hustle his wife and two children hurriedly into the vegetable cellar, then open the courtyard gate and roar, charging at the Snake Demon.
Yet the man was just at the level of an ordinary farmer, and the Snake Demon crushed his head with a single palm strike. Now, he was ready to feast on the woman and two children in the vegetable cellar.
Compared to the man, the woman and children tasted better to them, the Snake Demons.
But just as he was about to step through the courtyard gate, the previously vanished black-clad leader suddenly appeared, blocking his path.
As the Snake Demon was about to attack, the black-clad leader presented a Token, making the Snake Demon roar in dissatisfaction and anger.
The disturbance attracted the Double-headed Demon Leader of the invading Demon Clan army.
"What do you mean? Didn’t you say we could attack freely? Why are you blocking my troops now?"
"This is our requirement, don’t concern yourselves with anything else, just follow our arrangements unconditionally." The black-clad leader said expressionlessly.
"Follow? Cooperate?" A trace of ferocity appeared in the Double-headed Demon Leader’s eyes.
"It’s a must!"
The black-clad leader emphasized once more, "Unless you want to be permanently stuck on this land!"
This threat caused the Double-headed Demon Leader’s eyes to blaze with ferocity, but the black-clad leader’s next words made this ferocity vanish.
"Of course, this is merely the first target you’ve visited! Over the next few days, you can indulge in such feasts each day!" The black-clad leader added.
Upon hearing this, the Double-headed Demon Leader kicked the Snake Demon, sending him spinning, "Listen to them!"
Over a hundred breaths later, when the last scream was heard in Pingshan Town, roaring flames ignited all over town.
The black-clad leader appeared once more in front of the Double-headed Demon Leader, taking out a General-Level Spirit Boat in front of him.
"From now on, your men will all enter this Spirit Boat. Our people will navigate the Spirit Boat to take you to the next target!"
Seeing this Spirit Boat, greed instantly flashed in the eyes of the Double-headed Demon Leader, "This is my first chance to enter the complete inner workings of a Spirit Boat. However, it must be navigated by our own people!"
"Impossible!"
The leader of the black-clad men shook his head, "Inside, there are special Divine Soul Imprints and arrays. If the Spirit Boat’s navigator dies, the core array of this Spirit Boat will instantly self-destruct!"
"Moreover, you don’t know the route or the method of navigation."
In the end, persuaded by the leader of the black-clad men, the Double-headed Demon Leader led his over a thousand bloody Demon soldiers and boarded the Spirit Boat.
A few breaths later, the Spirit Boat soared into the sky like a meteor, heading towards the distance.
However, in Great Zhou, especially in states near the border like Lingzhou, seeing Spirit Boats flying in the sky is very normal.
Usually, the Spirit Boats are navigated by the organized soldiers of Great Zhou, so no one will stop or dare to stop them.
Even if seen, people will assume it’s the mobilization of the Great Zhou Army.
Almost everyone would never think that the Spirit Boat flying freely in the sky would hide a large number of impossible Demon troops.
After the Spirit Boat flew away, the ten previously vanished black-clad men reappeared behind their leader.
"Carefully use Divine Sense again to search if there are any survivors who could possibly witness the situation." The leader of the black-clad men commanded.
The next moment, a vast Divine Sense burst forth from the ten black-clad men, spreading across Pingshan Town like mercury pouring out.
"No, sir!"
"No survivors!"
"None!"
"Sir, there are three living presences in the vegetable cellar ahead. Should I go?" A black-clad man made a gesture to kill.
"No need!"
Although the black-clad man obeyed the order, there was a hint of confusion in his eyes.
"We need a few mouths, a few victims to stir up a greater sensation, to point out this is a Demon Clan invasion.
Only in this way can we uproot the Second Route, remove this thorn in the flesh of the West Patrol!"
If any acquaintance were listening, they would definitely recognize the voice of the leader of the black-clad men as that of Weis Gang, the Right Officer of the West Patrol.
After observing for about a hundred breaths, the leader of the black-clad men, Weis Gang, took out another smaller Spirit Boat.
"Board the boat, head to the next location!"
The smaller Spirit Boat disappeared into the night much faster than the Spirit Boat that had just departed.
The sky-reaching firelight alarmed the nearby villagers, but the bloody scent emanating from Ping’an Town, ten miles away, scared ordinary civilians from coming.
Not until dawn did the bravest villagers come together, and upon arrival, they were shocked by the gruesome scene in Ping’an Town.
Many vomited on the spot.
Half a day later, Xiyang County Magistrate and Captain, sweating profusely, hurriedly brought their troops over.
After a search and rescue operation, they joyfully discovered a trembling woman and children in a vegetable cellar.
As soon as they were rescued, the woman screamed.
"Demon Clan!"
"A large number of Demon Clan!"
"Demon Clan invasion?" This made the County Magistrate’s expression extremely unpleasant.
After repeated confirmation, the County Magistrate took the testimony and Spirit Shadow before hastily returning to the county town to report this matter to the Lingzhou Governor as quickly as possible.
However, within the Lingzhou Prefecture City State Governor Mansion, the State Governor Bai Jinjiang was already raging with fury.
Just in one morning, he had received three urgent reports!
Under the governance of Lingzhou, three towns were slaughtered overnight; three towns housing twenty thousand civilians were completely wiped out.
The survivors from those three towns could be counted on one hand.
Crucially, the survivors from those three towns, along with the battle traces, all pointed the culprits to the Demon Clan.
Demon Clan invasion!
And it was an organized Demon Clan invasion!
"Issue the document!"
"Immediately send me a document to the West Patrol Second Route Wind Patrol Envoy, asking them what are they doing! How could the Demon Clan army invade in full scale, are they blind?
Do they only discover when the Demon Clan army attacks Lingzhou Prefecture City?"
Lingzhou, the jurisdiction under Ye Zhen’s responsibility in the West Patrol Second Route!
"Furthermore, it’s a serious matter. Immediately send a document to the West Patrol Office, inform them of this matter, ask them what are the West Patrol personnel doing!
Twenty thousand civilians, all dead in one night!"
"Additionally, immediately report this matter to Luoyi, and to the Heavenly Patrol Department Headquarters. We, Lingzhou, cannot be blamed; this incompetence lies with the West Patrol Second Route!"
"Furthermore, prepare an impeachment memorial for me. I want to impeach the West Patrol Second Route Wind Patrol Envoy Ye Zhen for his dereliction and negligence, letting the Demon Clan army infiltrate on such a scale.
I also want to impeach West Patrol Xio Qiangu for failing to manage his subordinates effectively! Additionally, seal all the Spirit Shadow Jade Scrolls as evidence!"
Saying this, State Governor Bai Jinjiang slapped his forehead, "Right, send a document to the Second Route Wind Patrol Envoy, demanding they find the tracks of the invading Demon Clan army within three days, no, within one day!
Otherwise.... heh, the consequences, they are clearer than me!"
