“Sigh, have you heard? In order to craft her a sword, our small sect leader caused her mother to die.”
“Hush... Don’t gossip about this matter. It’s fine if you keep it to yourself.”
“I heard that a male disciple was severely wounded while sparring with her a few days ago!”
“It can’t be, right? She’s that ruthless now?”
“That’s why no one dares to approach her now...”
Liu Qianhuan was sitting on a flight of steps. The warm sunshine beat upon her cold and emotionless face, and it made her appear all the more cold and lonely.
She had a strong spiritual connection with the Great Ice Sword, and her hearing was also especially good.
She heard every word of the two disciple’s muted conversation.
However, she didn’t flare up in rage. She remained silent as she sat on the steps. Because she felt that those people were absolutely correct.
She didn’t have any friends either. Thinking back to the past, it appeared as if her mother was her sole companion.
Her mother was her only friend. Now, however, she had caused her mother to die.
That male disciple had sparred with her out of good-will, yet she sparred against him as she had against her mother. As a result, she had accidentally given the male disciple a grave wound...
“Mother, apart from making more friends, I’ve been able to accomplish everything that you’ve told me to. I practice sword techniques for eight hours a day, I’m not conceited, I’m low-key, I don’t flaunt my wealth or background, and I’m not a picky eater...
“Huan Huan passes, right?”
The little girl looked toward the blue sky dazedly. She wanted to see something; she wanted to hear a reply. However, all that she heard was the autumn wind and a deafening silence.
Five years later.
Liu Qianhuan was fifteen now. Her jet-black hair rested on her back and waist, and her figure was slender and graceful. Her appearance was exceedingly beautiful, yet it was also cold and aloof. She became a renowned ice queen of the sect.
She still didn’t have any friends.
It wasn’t that no one approached her. In truth, being as beautiful as she was, there were still people who were willing to approach her even though she was cold and aloof. Not to mention, Liu Mingxuan also encouraged other young disciples to try to approach her.
However, all this was to little effect. She had already sealed herself off from the outside world.
She practiced sword techniques by herself, she studied by herself, and she enjoyed the scenery of the sect’s mountains by herself.
This was until the day she saw her step-brother bring a strange toy back from school.
“What’s this?”
“Oh, this trinket is called a mobile phone. Those moving images are called games.
“This is an amazing invention from the mortal world. I’ve modified it so it can be recharged with vital energy instead of electricity. Wanna try it out?”
The colorful phone screen was reflected in Liu Qianhuan’s purple eyes, and she stared at it for a long while.
Although the images on that screen were a bit rough and unrefined, this toy still appeared rather refreshing and interesting.
It was isolated from the physical world, and she could be a whole new person when she entered into this imaginary realm. She could be a pilot, she could be a general, or she could be a soldier... She could be everything that wasn’t the Great Ice Sword-wielding Liu Qianhuan who caused her mother to die.
She fell in love with mobile phones; she fell in love with games...
She found the companion, the friend, who could bring her happiness.
M-hm, that friend was the mobile phone!
At some point in time, she became addicted to mobile phones.
Apart from the never-changing habit of practicing sword techniques, the only other thing that accompanied her was this mobile phone.
She gradually became more optimistic. It was as though she had found a companion, something to rely on. In fact, she even developed many new goals! She wanted to learn Chinese characters, she wanted to learn the Chinese language, she wanted to learn everything in the mortal world...
At that time, she realized that she had finally achieved her mother’s last requirement.
“Mom, I have friends now, and I’ve also found happiness. I’m really happy every single day. There’s a lot of games that I can play.
“Did Huan Huan do well? Hurry up and praise me, please?”
The young girl spoke happily as she pressed down on a button on the phone.
A tear inadvertently dripped down onto the screen of the phone. It blossomed outwards like a limpid lotus. Then, it was wiped away.
After being wounded by Liu Qianhuan’s sword, the Void Spirit King didn’t back down. Instead, it launched toward her even more ferociously. Countless rays of colorful light converged toward its body, eventually forming into a physical looking suit of armor.
Liu Qianhuan appeared apathetic as she looked toward the Void Spirit King whose aura was climbing steadily. A blue spark flashed across her eyes.
“Frosty Heavens.” Following this voice, frosty blue air appeared and transformed into a colorful silk scarf which wrapped around her lithe and graceful body.
The strange and distorted air around her suddenly froze. Then, it disappeared uncannily.
Blue and white became the only remaining colors in this world. Frosty snow drifted down, and a biting cold that could cut through one’s bones could be felt.
This all happened in the blink of an eye.
Everything became deathly still, and the sky was blotted out by ice and snow.
It appeared as if the flickering flames in the Void Spirit King’s eyes were also about to be frozen by this chilly world.
Its body became a blur, yet its speed slowed down uncannily. When it was a mere three feet away from the female, it froze to the spot and was unable to move any further.
For the first time, a hint of fear appeared in the Void Spirit King’s eyes. A soul-biting chill enveloped its entire body.
Liu Qianhuan’s expression didn’t change. She raised her Great Ice Sword and slashed down at the defenseless Void Spirit King. Just like that, a plain blue sword projection flashed down.
There wasn’t any mighty or majestic scene, yet this sword strike possessed a true intent which could sever one’s divine sense.
A white line appeared on the Void Spirit King’s body, and its body split into two halves. Its lifeless corpse crashed into the white, snow-blanketed ground and vanished in puffs of green smoke. It died a silent and still death.
“Congratulations! You have passed the trial of the Void Spirit Tribe!”
Liu Qianhuan sheathed her sword and retracted her Frosty Heavens domain. The chilly and aloof expression also melted from her face.
“So boring! And here I was thinking how hard this hell mode was going to be. Absolute trash!
“This kind of Void Spirit King... I can fight ten of them!”
She ridiculed this trial mercilessly as she accepted the inheritance which descended from the sky.
In a dimly lit space.
Trash trial? Fight ten Void Spirit Kings?
Upon hearing this, a look of despair spread across the bald male’s face.
Oh, dear goddess, I beg you, please give me a break!
It’s not that the Void Spirit King is weak; it’s just that your strength is inhumane, okay?!
Within the stone hall, Liu Qianhuan saw her teammates who were waiting for her.
“Heh, why were you so slow, Sister Liu? You weren’t playing games in there, were you?” An Lin grinned teasingly as he greeted Liu Qianhuan.
Liu Qianhuan high-fived An Lin giddily. “I wasn’t playing games inside. The prelude to the hell mode trial took ages. I had to wait for a long time before the boss appeared. Then, I waited for another lengthy period of time when the boss shape-shifted during battle...”
“Wow! Sister Liu was assigned the hell mode difficulty?! Was the creature inside strong?” Tian Lingling gazed at Liu Qianhuan in reverence after hearing that she had undertaken a trial of the hell mode difficulty.
“Eh... It was too weak. I killed it with two strikes of my sword. I didn’t even need to use my special move!”
Liu Qianhuan pondered for a moment before replying seriously.
It would’ve been fine if she didn’t say anything. After hearing this, Tian Lingling was almost about to become her fangirl.
Even An Lin nodded his head in approval. He felt that Liu Qianhuan was nearing his level of kicka*s. He was feeling rather pleased.
“Huh? Tang Ximen still hasn’t come out yet?” Liu Qianhuan thought that she was the last person to arrive. After coming to her sense, however, she found that there was still one person missing.
At this moment, Tang Ximen was still chasing after a black dragon. However, he couldn’t catch up to it no matter what he did...
