After mulling over it for a long time, An Lin finally decided to let heaven decide what class he was going to take.
He took out a dice. One was pill refinement, two was tool refinement, three was spell formations, four was magic treasure techniques, five was immortal spells, and six was divine senses.
He tossed the dice into the air. After landing, it rolled around like crazy and eventually stopped on five.
M-hm... This is the will of the heavens. Immortal spells class it is!
Coincidentally, Xu Xiaolan also picked the immortal spells class.
She wielded fire anyway, so choosing the immortal spells class was only normal.
Out of the 100 students in their class, a whopping 26 picked the immortal spells class.
It appeared as though this specialty was fairly popular. Also, the teacher in charge of this class was the white-haired and white-bearded Earth Immortal Cang Qing.
Thinking back to the past, An Lin had suffered quite a lot under the influence of “Cang Qing brand sleeping pills”.
Now that he had shaken off his identity as an unknowledgeable weakling, he could also listen to Earth Immortal Cang Qing’s lessons with keen interest. When a joke was made, he could also laugh along with the other students.
This was all the result of his blood, sweat, and tears. Only An Lin himself knew of the bitterness and misery behind all his hard work.
The immortal spells class was delivered on a wide and open hillside.
The students sat in a circle around Earth Immortal Cang Qing and listened to him talk exultantly about the theories regarding immortal spells.
“Elementary rank immortal spells are dazzling in appearance only. High-rank immortal spells are not only brilliant in appearance but also contain intent. This intent refers to one’s intent realm. Integrating one’s intent realm into immortal spells will allow the spells to become spiritual in nature, as well as give them the ability to grow...”
Listening to Earth Immortal Cang Qing’s explanations, An Lin started his own practical experiment.
It was far too early for him to create his own immortal spells. However, modifying and improving an immortal spell was something that he could attempt.
The immortal spells he was most familiar with right now were Mountain Quaking Fist and Lightning Manipulation Technique. As for the Six Strikes of the War God, it was close to perfection already and it also contained true intent within it. Thus, he didn’t even need to consider improving it.
Why don’t I heap lightning onto the Mountain Quaking Fist and make it into the Mountain Quaking Lightning Fist?
An Lin’s eyes lit up and he acted without delay.
After Cang Qing finished delivering his content, it was time for the students to get hands-on practice.
An Lin found an empty stretch of space and started modifying his immortal spell using the techniques that Earth Immortal Cang Qing discussed.
Mountain Quaking Fist was an elementary rank God of War immortal spell. Because of the buffs provided by his Earth Lotus Supreme Skill, its power greatly increased and it could also be cast instantaneously.
As for the Lightning Manipulation Technique, this was an immortal spell borne from the Thunder Essence Cultivation Method. It drew upon the lightning of the void and needed around ten seconds to fully charge up.
Which was to say, he needed at least ten seconds to charge up and cast the Mountain Quaking Lightning Fist.
“Hmm... Let me test its power first.”
Arcs of lightning sparked across his left hand and his right hand was curled up into a fist. A golden glow enveloped this fist, and it radiated a powerful aura.
Now, he needed to deposit the lightning onto his fist.
During this process, he needed to make sure that the energy of these two immortal spells remained in a harmonious proportion. Otherwise, the loss of balance between the two energies would cause an explosion to occur.
Crackle...
Blue arcs of lightning crackled in the air as they slowly attached to the fist.
Feeling the collision and fusion between these two different energies, he was absolutely exhilarated. After mixing with the power of the earth contained within the Mountain Quaking Fist, the lighting became golden in color.
“S-so awesome!”
An Lin’s breathing quickened in excitement. He was awestruck by the golden lightning on his own fist.
After absorbing the divine lightning of his Lightning Manipulation Technique, the might contained by his fist became extremely devastating. However, the energy contained by the fist had also reached the brink of eruption. It was time to cast this immortal spell.
“Check this out! Mountain Quaking Lightning Fist!”
An Lin roared loudly and threw his fist forward.
Boom!
A terrifying power erupted outwards. The explosion of the golden lightning fist swept through and engulfed the surroundings.
Like an expanding sphere, a bolt of devastating golden lightning obliterated everything within a 50 feet radius.
An Lin, who was at the heart of the explosion, was blasted back by the tremendous power. He spat out blood as he flew backward, and his right arm was swollen and crimson red as if it were about to split open.
“Ow...! It huuurts...!”
He collapsed to the floor and started rolling around in pain. His face was contorted in agony, and he wailed in anguish.
“An Lin, your immortal spell is so powerful~ If an enemy of the Spirit Nurturing Stage was blasted by it, they’d definitely be blown to bits!” Xu Xiaolan had come to check out the commotion. Seeing An Lin rolling about in pain, she smiled with squinted eyes.
“As expected of Big Brother An! You’ve created such a terrifying immortal spell!” Luo Ziping also ran over enthusiastically, and a look of surprise and envy spread across his face.
An Lin winced and he didn’t reply to their remarks. Instead, he sat himself up and looked toward his slightly split open hand, a lingering fear in his mind.
So, it turned out that he had developed an immortal spell which killed eight hundred allies for every one thousand enemies?
No... If one of his arms was crippled every time he used this, he would definitely refuse to acknowledge this as an immortal spell!
There were probably still areas which he could modify and improve. With regards to energy integration though, he felt that he had harmonized it very well already. The power of the combined immortal spell had also increased significantly. If he really had to find a shortcoming, then that would be the intent realm of the spell.
Intent realm?
That’s right, I can integrate my intent realm into the immortal spell to make it more stable!
An Lin’s eyes lit up at this thought. Right away, he started pondering over what kind of intent realm to integrate in order to make the immortal spell more stable.
An intent realm which could contain both the earthly power of the Mountain Quaking Fist and the lightning power of the Lightning Manipulation Technique...
For some reason, his mind wandered to Dark Night Monarch’s Darkness of Origin.
At the time, he was in a peculiar state where we could see the truths of all matter. Facing off against Dark Night Monarch’s most powerful technique, he saw through and understood the intent realm behind her technique with a single glance.
The Darkness of Origin was an immortal spell which could annihilate all matter yet at the same time, contain all matter. Integrating this unique property of annihilation and containment, perhaps he could further increase the power of his Mountain Quaking Lightning Fist while he stabilized it.
“You guys stay back,” An Lin said anxiously, “I’m going to try it again.”
Luo Ziping had a look of excitement. “Is Big Brother An going to create another immortal spell? I’ll enjoy it to the fullest!”
Hearing An Lin’s warning, Xu Xiaolan silently shuffled back a few steps.
In truth, combining two immortal spells and integrating one’s intent realm into it was already beyond the scope of modification and improvement of immortal spells. Perhaps Luo Ziping was correct. This was already an attempt at creating a new immortal spell!
As An Lin manipulated lightning with his left hand, a golden glow once again radiated from his right fist. Once the lightning attached to the fist, the energy contained within the fist changed, once again teetering on the brink of eruption.
His eyes became sharp and focused. It was time to integrate the intent realm!
The scene of the sky becoming an endless stretch of darkness and crashing down toward the earth emerged in his mind. The true intent of this technique started to fuse into his fist.
A trace of black appeared among the raging golden lightning, and it slowly settled down. However, the might that it contained became even more suffocating. In fact, even An Lin was chilled by its fearsome might. He felt as though a ticking time bomb was attached to his fist!
I can’t wait any longer... I have to cast it now!
Mountain Quaking Lightning Fist!
Just as he went to throw his fist, the surrounding air stagnated. The lightning and golden glow slightly folded back into his fist.
An Lin’s eyes widened. Without any hesitation, he launched the spell.
You have to launch on time!
With golden lightning crackling around it, a golden fist burst out from his hand. Traces of black swam about inside the fist, and they contained within them the conflicting energies of annihilation and violence. Like thin threads, they pulled at the fist, causing it to shrink uncannily...
Silence suddenly descended upon heaven and earth.
Boom!
There was an earth-shattering explosion.
The devastating spell exploded three feet from An Lin!
The earth shook, and the surface of the ground was pulverized by the golden fist as it brought with it an aura of destruction. The golden lightning swept through the surroundings, obliterating everything that it touched.
Turning their gazes toward the hillside, Earth Immortal Cang Qing and the nearby students all sucked in a sharp breath.
A small mushroom cloud flickered with lightning as it billowed up from the earth, its powerful shockwaves sending clouds of rocks and dust flying everywhere.
As for An Lin, his body had been drowned in the mushroom cloud long ago...
