Da Bai excitedly wagged his tail. He was very satisfied with the plan which could ensure that Qing Hua’s love life wasn’t hindered. He immediately asked, “Then what should I do now?”
Acting as if he were an expert of love, An Lin stroked his chin. “Firstly, you must clear up your relationship.”
Da Bai stuck his tongue out and pricked his ears up, all ears for what An Lin had to say.
“In the past, haven’t you always told her that you only view her as a little sister?”
Da Bai nodded.
“Then, first off, you should go tell her that you don’t view her as a little sister anymore. Rather, you want to become friends with her! I trust that she’ll understand what you mean by this.”
Da Bai nodded, then flew off into the wind. “Master, wait here for me!”
An Lin didn’t expect for Da Bai to be so impatient. He only shouted a single remark before flying off toward Qing Hua.
This being the case, he and Xiao Chou could only sit down and take a nap. In the meantime, he took Xiao Hong out so she could photosynthesize as well.
Da Bai had already finished receiving his inheritance at the Mythological Beast Sect. The inheritance that his tribe practiced was from the Heavenly Wolf and the power of this inheritance was related to the wind element and claws.
After dealing with the matters surrounding Qing Hua and his family, Da Bai would be able to sign a contract with An Lin.
After around one hour, Da Bai flew back on the wind.
“Done?” An Lin asked curiously.
Da Bai had a complicated look on his face as he nodded. “Who would’ve thought. After telling her that I wanted to become friends rather than siblings with her, she actually agreed to let me go with you! A female dog’s mind is too hard to read...
“She even gave me this Mystical Dragon Bone which she always keeps by her side.
“She said that I could take it out and lick it whenever I thought of her...”
Saying this, Da Bai held a white bone in his mouth.
It was as if he was telling An Lin, ‘it’s this bone!’
An Lin was a bit surprised.
He wasn’t surprised by the fact that Qing Hua agreed for Da Bai to leave. Rather, he was surprised that she actually gifted a bone as a token of love!
Indirect kiss?
An Lin nodded to himself.
One had to admit, even the doggies were becoming more and more cunning with their schemes now!
Da Bai continued happily, “After this, all we need to do is get my parents to agree.”
An Lin was a bit nervous. “Do I need to go as well?”
Da Bai tilted his head in thought. “It’s probably best if you do,” he answered. “My parents also mentioned before that they want to meet you.”
Hearing this, An Lin became even more fidgety.
What would it be like meeting Da Bai’s parents? Would they suddenly pounce at him?
“Xiao Chou, transform back into your original form and provide me with some support,” An Lin said reluctantly.
Bam!
Xiao Chou transformed into a mighty and fearsome monkey who was suited in black crystal armor and wielding a silver-colored metal staff.
Seeing Xiao Chou’s appearance, Da Bai’s eyes bulged. “Such an ugly— ptui! Such a fearsome monkey!”
An Lin chuckled at Da Bai’s reaction. “He’s called Xiao Chou. He’s my brother who’s gone through fire and water with me.”
Hearing this, Da Bai was filled with a deep sense of veneration. He nodded excitedly and greeted, “Hi Xiao Chou, I’m Da Bai. I’m also An Lin’s brother and I’ve faced many perils with him as well.
“Those were the good old days. During the free-for-all battle, the title of Gallant Human and Dog Duo had the students of the Heavenly Court quaking in fear. Our title was known to every single person, every single one of them...”
As they trundled along, Da Bai started boasting about his glorious feats.
Xiao Chou was full of curiosity and An Lin was only too glad for Da Bai to boast like this. It was a great way for him to alleviate some of his nervousness.
Along the way, Da Bai also told An Lin about his parents.
For example, his mother was a white-furred dog of the Soul Formation Stage and his father was an Immortal Beast of the Return to Void Stage. That’s right, his father was one of the renowned Three Immortal Beast Overlords.
The more An Lin heard, the more uneasy he became.?Holy sh*t! Why is Da Bai’s background so imposing?!
Am I really going to have Da Bai become my pet beast?
One of his parents is an Immortal Beast and the other is a Soul Beast. Such high and almighty figures...
Will they really allow their son to become a pet beast to a cultivator of the Spirit Nurturing Stage?
Even An Lin himself didn’t think that they would agree...
What he was mulling over now was this. If he couldn’t satisfy them, what would happen if Da Bai’s parents suddenly swallowed him in one bite?
At that time, Xiao Chou’s support would also be rendered meaningless. Apart from giving Da Bai’s parents a fright with his appearance, he probably couldn’t even withstand a single one of his mother’s slaps.
Ah... So sad...
An Lin felt like he was walking toward a deathtrap.
When they arrived at Da Bai’s parents’ place, a butler came out to greet them.
This butler was a pig who walked upright on its two hind legs. Muscles bulged from its body and it looked as though they contained an explosive power. The pig had a chilly expression on its face and was clearly not one to be provoked.
An Lin was astonished by this sight, and he labeled this pig as ‘bodybuilding pig’ in his mind.
The bodybuilding pig was also astonished upon seeing Xiao Chou. However, he didn’t chatter much after learning that Da Bai wanted to visit his parents, instead silently leading the way ahead of them.
In a large quaint courtyard, two white dogs were stretched lazily over some soft cushions.
“Mom, dad, I’m here to visit you guys, woof!” Da Bai walked in first, and he opened his mouth in greeting.
His heart pounding, An Lin followed behind.
Then, he saw a mighty yet adorable white-furred dog as well as a beautiful and slightly more slender white-furred dog...
Holy f*ck! Why do they look like duplicates of Da Bai and Qing Hua?!
He had initially thought that a dog with the title of Immortal Beast Overlord would be a gigantic and intimidating dog who looked at everything with disdain.
However, shifting his gaze between Da Bai and his father, An Lin was a bit stupefied.
If Da Bai’s father ran over and called him master, An Lin would definitely, like a fool, think that he was Da Bai.
This time, he finally understood what Xiao Chou had meant by an interspecial barrier. Differentiating faces of different species was indeed a difficult task. Only beings like Xiao Chou, being as ugly as he was, were easy to differentiate.
“Greetings Senior Bai Xian and Senior Chun. I am An Lin.” An Lin respectfully saluted.
Bai Xian and Chun were the names of Da Bai’s father and mother. Hearing An Lin’s greeting, they finally showed some reaction. They opened their half-closed eyes and carefully scrutinized An Lin.
When their gazes swept over Xiao Chou, their eyes widened notably and they appeared to draw in a sharp breath.
“Child’s mother, what do you think?” Bai Xian inquired.
“This human cultivator is fairly handsome and pleasing to the eye,” Chun replied in a soft and tender voice. “However, this monkey is way too ugly. Will Da Bai be able to stand looking at him every day?”
“I think Brother Monkey is very normal though,” Da Bai retorted. “At any rate, he won’t affect me, woof!”
Hearing Da Bai’s remarks, Chun’s expression became solemn. “Child’s father, you see that?! It’s only been a few hours and our child’s eyes have already been blinded! This is far too dangerous!”
An Lin: “...”
Xiao Chou: “...”
“Xiao Chou, transform!” An Lin suddenly called out.
Xiao Chou instantly understood what An Lin meant. With a bang, he transformed into an adorably ugly little monkey and sat down on An Lin’s shoulder.
There was a glimmer in Chun’s eyes as she saw this. “Uh-huh...” she nodded, “it’s fine now. There’s something cute about the ugliness this way.”
Bai Xian yawned and started wagging his large white tail. “If the child’s mother is fine with it, then I’m also fine with it. Da Bai, don’t dally with women when you’re out venturing. Also, An Lin, if Da Bai loses even a single hair, I’ll have you answer for it, woof!”
Hearing Bai Xian and Chun’s response, both Da Bai and An Lin were overjoyed. They knew that his parents had already agreed.
An Lin never would’ve thought that it would be so easy to gain their approval. All they did was judge his appearance.
“Achoo!” Da Bai was so excited that he sneezed.
A strand of white dog hair slowly drifted to the floor...
An Lin: “...”
Da Bai: “...”
Bai Xian blew out a stream of air and the white dog hair instantly turned to dust.
Then, a sinister smile appeared on his face. “An Lin, it was at home this time, so it doesn’t count.”
Seeing this familiar smile, An Lin grimaced.
In the end, however, he still saluted gratefully before exiting the courtyard with Da Bai.
After An Lin and the others left, Bai Xian and Chun continued to lie on the cushions lazily.
Squinting her eyes, Chun asked, “Child’s father, is there really no problem with this An Lin?”
Bai Xian scratched his belly and replied, “At any rate, I can’t see through this human cultivator. There’s an air of unpredictability about him. Perhaps Da Bai will encounter great opportunities by following him.”
Chun shut her eyes. “He’ll also encounter many dangers.”
Bai Xian also shut his eyes. “Isn’t that normal? Which powerful beast hasn’t experienced difficulties and hardships? What will one be able to achieve by lazing around at home all day? Alright, I’m going to sleep now.”
Chun didn’t reply. Her breathing had become even and she appeared to be asleep already.
Under the leisurely afternoon sunshine, Bai Xian also fell asleep.
