A sliver of sunlight pierced through the window lattice, and Lin Chen sat quietly on the bed meditating, with beads of Spiritual Energy, like little sprites, slowly revolving around him.
Suddenly, Lin Chen’s body shuddered, and the Spiritual Energy around him vanished without a trace.
Slowly opening his eyes, Lin Chen frowned. A night of cultivation still hadn’t broken through the Golden Core bottleneck.
Glancing at the time, it was over three hours until Xue Ying would arrive in the Capital City.
After washing up, Lin Chen took a taxi to a luxury car dealership in the Capital City.
As the Chairman of the Star Group, taking a cab to the airport to pick someone up seemed too shabby, especially since this was the global cosmetics conference. Without a luxury car to make a statement, how could it work? So, Lin Chen decided to buy a car at the dealership.
Lin Chen entered a luxury car showroom, and since it had just opened, there weren’t many customers.
A saleswoman quickly approached upon seeing a customer arrive.
However, upon seeing Lin Chen’s street vendor-quality clothes, the saleswoman’s brows furrowed.
Standing in front of a Mercedes S600, Lin Chen glanced at it a few times and shook his head, "This isn’t flashy enough."
Then he looked over at a BMW 740, "This isn’t cool enough."
Listening to Lin Chen mutter to himself, the saleswoman’s face grew increasingly sour.
A Mercedes S600 not flashy enough? This car cost nearly three million. A BMW 740 not cool enough? That was a car only rich kids could afford to drive.
Looking at Lin Chen’s outfit, his shirt cost just tens, and the pants were even worse, fraying at the seams. How could such a loser feel a Mercedes wasn’t flashy enough, or a BMW wasn’t cool? Ridiculous.
"Sir, all of the cars we sell in this showroom are worth over a million. If you’d like to buy a car, you can turn right outside the door. There are cars ranging from thirty thousand to a hundred thousand, and you should be able to find something to your liking."
Although the saleswoman smiled, her meaning was blunt: You can’t afford our cars, the lower-grade ones outside are more your speed.
Lin Chen frowned but ignored the saleswoman, heading over to a Maybach 320 instead.
Seeing that Lin Chen was completely immune to her warning, the saleswoman’s face turned even uglier.
Customers like these, who came to ogle at luxury cars, were a daily sight, but after her hint, they would usually blush and scramble away. Yet this guy had skin thicker than a cowhide; even with her frank words, he acted as if he couldn’t hear.
"Hmph, obviously a broke loser and still comes here to pose, how annoying and despicable," the saleswoman stamped her foot in frustration.
Lin Chen approached the Maybach 320, took a few glances, then shook his head, "This one seems a bit low class."
Upon hearing that, the saleswoman finally lost her patience. This car was worth over 3.8 million, and this guy still complained it was a bit low class.
"Hey, if you can’t afford it, don’t cause trouble here. I’m very busy. All the cars here are over a million, and you, looking all poor and destitute, still think the Maybach is low class, take a piss and look at your own reflection, bragging doesn’t cost a thing."
Xue Ying was about to arrive in the Capital City, and Lin Chen had no interest in dealing with this kind of snobbish person. He went straight to the center of the showroom, to a limited edition Phantom 700.
"Ah, this one isn’t bad," Lin Chen said as he pulled the car door open.
Seeing that Lin Chen wasn’t just looking but actually getting into the car, the saleswoman’s face changed drastically, and she rushed over.
"You poor kid, get your dirty hands off the car. This car is worth tens of millions, scratching the paint would cost more than you could earn in your entire life," the saleswoman came up to Lin Chen, shouting aggressively.
Lin Chen shut the door with a thud and even tried turning the steering wheel from inside.
"Are you deaf? I told you to get down from the car, didn’t you hear me?"
The saleswoman was about to explode with rage at Lin Chen; this pauper actually dared to touch a car worth tens of millions and sit inside it—his audacity knew no bounds.
As Lin Chen got out of the car, the saleswoman’s face was livid with anger, "You pauper, do you know how much this car costs? Seventeen million, that’s right, and you actually dared to sit in it and touch it recklessly. If you broke it, could you afford to pay for it? Get out of here right now, immediately."
This time, Lin Chen’s face darkened and he snorted coldly, "The service here is dreadful; so much for ’five-star service.’ Even a watchdog isn’t tethered properly, letting it bark wildly at will."
After hearing this, the saleswoman became furious, "Who are you calling a dog, you pauper? You can’t afford the car yet you’re causing trouble here. This is the last warning I’m giving you, get out now, or I’ll have security throw you out."
"Can’t afford the car? Which dog-eye of yours saw that I couldn’t afford it?" Lin Chen said coldly.
"Hmph, your whole outfit from a street stall doesn’t even add up to a hundred dollars. I’ve seen plenty like you before. You’re not even qualified to touch this car, understand?" the saleswoman said disdainfully.
"Is that so?" A cold smirk passed over Lin Chen’s lips as he walked up to the car and kicked it twice with his foot.
The saleswoman was initially stunned, and then her face changed dramatically, screaming, "Security, security! Catch this guy and don’t let him get away."
At this moment, a man dressed like a manager and several security guards came running over.
"Xiao Li, what’s all the screaming about? What happened?"
The manager was quite displeased; their showroom was lavishly decorated, with an elegant atmosphere, and now with more and more clients arriving, Xiao Li’s shouting was likely to disturb the ambiance and negatively impact the dealership’s image.
Seeing the manager, Xiao Li’s face brightened as she quickly pointed at Lin Chen, "Manager, this penniless guy not only is not buying the car, but he also kicked it twice. Call the police, don’t let him escape."
The manager’s face changed when he saw the footprints on the car and then grew even darker upon examining Lin Chen’s street stall outfit, "Sir, do you realize what you have done?"
Lin Chen, with hands in his pockets, replied, "I just kicked it twice, is there a problem?"
"Is there a problem?" the manager echoed, his face turning ashen.
"Sir, this car is worth seventeen million. If your kicks have damaged the paint, just the paint job alone will cost millions. Can you afford to pay for that?" the manager said angrily.
"Pay? Why should I pay? What’s wrong with kicking my own car?" Lin Chen said indifferently.
At Lin Chen’s remark, the saleswoman burst into laughter, "I’ve seen shameless, but never someone as shameless as you. With that poor look of yours, you want to buy a car worth tens of millions? Boy, you’ve got a big problem now. If you don’t spend a good ten or eight years in prison, don’t even think about getting out."
Suppressing his anger, the manager said, "Sir, I’ll give you three options: first, buy the car; second, pay for the damage; third, we will inform the police to handle this matter."
Before Lin Chen could answer, the manager turned to the security guard beside him and whispered, "Keep an eye on him, don’t let him escape, and prepare to call the police."
Obviously, the manager didn’t believe Lin Chen had the means to buy the car or repair it; he was almost sure this issue had to be resolved by the police.
"You who look down on others." Lin Chen scoffed, pulling out his wallet to take out a bank card.
But at that moment, the VIP card Zuo Tian gave him fell to the ground.
"Oh, quite a few cards there. Is there even a thousand dollars in there?" the saleswoman said with contempt.
She glanced at the card that fell in front of her and was about to kick it away.
Just then, someone suddenly grabbed her ankle, and the manager knelt down, staring intently at her foot.
The saleswoman was taken aback; could it be that the manager had this fetish for women’s feet? But even if he did, he should indulge it when no one else was around. Him staring at her foot like that was quite embarrassing!
