Let them bring a small elite group to harass the enemy camp; this can definitely be done. After all, it’s not a direct confrontation; the focus is on "harassment." Finish the attack and then retreat swiftly. If the enemy launches an offensive with a large number of troops or Martial Vault-level Divine Ability Users, they can scatter and withdraw towards Tianxiong Pass, where there will be troops to support them.
But if the Heavenly General himself leaves the city, it’s a different story. The main commander entering the enemy camp is risky. If entrapped, the consequences could be disastrous.
Beiliang’s hundred thousand iron cavalry isn’t just for show, especially with troops guarded by a Martial Saint!
The two Colonels felt that the Heavenly General’s astonishing words were overly bold, making their hearts race with fear.
Yet Qi Tian remained unwavering. He had been stationed in the Demon Country for many years, experiencing countless battles. The hundred thousand Beiliang army couldn’t shake his resolve. He said this was not reckless; it was a sharp intuition honed through years of warfare. In his eyes, there were many doubts about this army of a hundred thousand. The possibility of them attacking Tianxiong Pass in concert with the traitor Huo Zhen was a possibility, but not enough to dispel his other suspicions. Even with Huo Zhen, it couldn’t sway the battlefield situation.
His intuition told him that the hundred thousand army was perhaps a guise thrown by King Liang, much like what Chen Yuan had expressed. He needed to personally carry the Holy Weapon and investigate the Ghost Cry Mountain to assess the true strength of the enemy camp, to verify his suspicion!
"Don’t be quick to advise against it!"
"The General has his considerations and won’t put the tens of thousands of soldiers at Tianxiong Pass at risk. As you’ve seen, Tianxiong Pass has a direct Transmission Array to communicate with General Chen. I will send a letter explaining the reasons, asking him to assist a bit."
"Although General Chen has many grievances with the Court and has resigned to return home, he still has feelings for the Mountain-cutting Army. Before I came here, a message was conveyed by Mr. Gongsun, a sentiment indeed. Safety issues need not be too worried."
"Furthermore, although I failed to break through to Martial Saint status back then, I am no ordinary Dragon and Tiger. If I wield the State Preceptor’s Holy Weapons, I will still have some degree of self-preservation under the Martial Saint. There is no need to worry."
His words were no deceit. Though his attempt to break through to Martial Saint status several months ago ended in failure, he gained insights from the experience, and his strength grew even further. With the power of the Holy Weapon, he might withstand a few moves under a Martial Saint.
That’s the capital for a journey to the enemy camp!
The Seventh and Eighth Colonels, upon hearing the General’s words, felt worried in their hearts but considering the General’s thorough arrangement, their words of persuasion were swallowed back. They felt their blood quicken, filled with excitement. Saluting with resolute voice,
"Since the General has made his decision, the two of us will definitely assist the General unto death!"
Qi Tian snorted, "Go!"
"Yes!"
The two Colonels received the order, took their leave, and then gathered their subordinates, mobilizing the elite to prepare for a night raid on the enemy camp.
On the city wall, there was immediately a loud roar from the troops.
Qi Tian waved his hand, calling forward his accompanying adjutant.
"General!"
"Write a letter on my behalf and send it to Lieutenant Wei Zhong, have it delivered to General Chen."
Not long after, southeast nine thousand miles, in the hidden remnants of the Prince Mansion in Langdang Mountain.
At this time, it was noon. Unlike the stormy weather at Tianxiong Pass, amidst thousands of lethal soldiers, the mountain presented a bright autumn day, seemingly separate from the northern war affairs, as if residing in two different worlds.
In an underground wine cellar of a Prince Mansion, the aroma of wine was overwhelming. The cellar’s floor laid with polished smooth green stone slabs, with its crevices filled with moisture-resistant sticky rice mortar. Luxurious nanmu wine racks stood against the walls, their surfaces enriched with a brown maroon tint from years of wine aroma immersion. Each layer lined with various wine vessels, resembling rows of solemn "Jade Wine Guards."
The top tier mostly contained small silver pots and jade cups, with clear wine and a faint fragrance. The middle and lower tiers were mainly pottery jars and wine jars. Pottery jars made of coarse pottery, each as tall as a person, had mouths tightly sealed with red silk cloth, adorned with gilded tribute wine seals, and attached with yellowing labels written in small script with wine names and aging years, including phrases such as "Sealed in Xuanwu 23rd Year, Tribute from Yutian Country Envoy." By year calculation, they embodied over a hundred years of history.
Among them were countless cherished wines, like Tusu Wine from the Central Plains, grape wine from the Western Regions, and even the Court’s Imperial Wine, a variety vast and comprehensive. By examining the arrangement and inscriptions, one could deduce the Prince Mansion long harbored rebellion tendencies, using emperor-level specifications.
And at this moment, in this wine cellar, various wine vessels scattered across the floor, as if plundered by thieves.
On the second underground level of the wine cellar, Old Dong the Wine-nosed leaned against a wine rack, holding a precious white jade wine jar, pouring it down his throat, making the old man’s cheeks flush with ruddy redness, eyes hazy, face filled with an intoxicatingly ecstatic smile, eager to dip his head into the wine, literally enjoying immeasurable beauty.
And before him, Chen Yuan was speaking with him.
"I need to focus on crafting my Personal Cave Heaven now, so amidst these tumultuous times, I’ll need to trouble Old Dong to oversee a bit, the more capable deserves more work."
"You kid speak true!"
"Over in Qingshan County, Ni Chang and Liu Qing, among others, encounter matters too rigidly, unacquainted with flexible turns, Old Dong should occasionally check on them."
"Alright, they’re just young ones, with me, an old worldly guardian, watching over, could those thieves dare cause trouble, hic..,"
"Also, about the northern war affairs, if anyone from the Mountain-cutting Army sends information, Old Dong should scrutinize it first, based on importance, see if it can be handled solo; if urgent need arises, summon me. As for other people seeking me, just turn them back."
Old Dong put down the wine jar he was holding, his bleary eyelids flickered open, revealing half white in his eyes, with an annoyed wave,
"You youngster, alright alright, don’t disturb this old one’s drinking, is it not just asking the old man to supervise for you? Just go craft your cumbersome Treasure Cave Heaven, off you go."
Had it been typical times, Chen Yuan making such numerous requests, Dong Fu would certainly grumble, endlessly complaining, unavoidably voicing some discontent. Yet at this moment, he forgave the kid.
All because he offered so much.
With this abundance of fine wines, allowing him to enjoy freely—this surpasses even the emperor, Chen Yuan’s words, he had to agree.
Watching his demeanor, Chen Yuan couldn’t help but smile, "Alright, then I won’t interrupt your delightful affair."
"I know Old Dong has discretion, so I’ll be leaving."
With that, he chuckled lightly and thought, during these turbulent times, he wanted to craft his Personal Cave Heaven as soon as possible to quickly form his combat strength, thus gaining another trump card against the enemy.
The Heaven Pot Skill coupled with the millennium-old Array Map of the Prince Mansion’s remnants, along with his Ninth Mountain Soldiers under his command orchestrating the Array Map efficiently, would serve as a formidable killing machine!
He wasn’t hindered by the external storm from maintaining his pace, convincing Old Dong to become his utility man, delegating the tasks he just outlined. Using the opponent’s Dragon and Tiger Cultivation to fill this gap was plausible.
With this thought, he swayed his steps as he left the sizable wine cellar.
Upon his exit, he gathered his men to delegate certain matters when his underlings brought news that from the side of the Holy Tree, the Heavenly General once again sent a message!
Barely half an hour has passed.
"Please have a look, General!"
Chen Yuan took the Silver Leaf Leaf, as before, examined the contents, grasping the general situation, and slightly raised his eyebrows.
The Beiliang army halted nine hundred miles outside Tianxiong Pass, ceasing their advance. The Heavenly General planned to take Holy Weapons for a night reconnaissance to evaluate the actual strength of the enemy camp; Qi Tian briefly explained his intentions in the message.
What a hero’s heart!
For this General, Chen Yuan had been saved by him at Tianxiong Pass in the past. Seeing the request above, Chen Yuan made a determination to assist him.
Soon after, inside Tianxiong’s Inner City, the wind and clouds shifted, a white column of light descended from the sky!
Afterward, a chilling star tore the cloudy sky apart, falling from the heavens.
"Boom!"
A big spear pierced into the Commander’s Platform in front of the Heavenly Patrol Hall!
Three-point double-edged, flashing a chilling glare!
The entirety of Tianxiong Pass shook in resonance!
