Meanwhile,
Outside,
Qingshan County,
The sun sets in the west,
A shout of alarm echoes through the city.
“Heavens!”
“It’s terrible!”
“This whole family is dead!”
In a residence in the eastern market area.
A resident from Yunlu County runs out of the house in panic.
The governmental officials responsible for this neighborhood, hearing the commotion, hurried over.
At that moment, the sound of the wind swept through.
Two figures soaring through the air landed in front of this residence.
One slender, the other burly.
It was none other than Lian Nichang and Qin Hu!
“My lord!”
The governmental officials who arrived dismounted in haste.
Lian Nichang, however, said nothing and entered the house with Qin Hu.
Inside the house, on the bed.
A couple and their child lay there, eyes closed, with peaceful expressions, appearing merely asleep.
Lian Nichang and Qin Hu checked their pulses.
But they were already gone.
Dead.
Qin Hu’s face turned grim.
This feeling of being powerless to prevent it was genuinely infuriating.
“Damn it,” he cursed.
“It used to be people dying on the streets, now it’s starting inside homes.”
A flash of realization crossed Lian Nichang’s eyes.
This indicated that the situation was rapidly deteriorating.
At that moment, another shout of alarm came from outside.
It seemed another person had died.
The two exchanged looks and swiftly leapt out.
During this brief interval, outside of Qingshan County, high in the sky, a black eagle about a meter long sped through the air with its wings spread.
Its sharp eagle eyes pierced through the clouds and spotted Qingshan County below, suddenly plunging with a piercing eagle cry.
“li”
Meanwhile, on a certain roof, Qin Hu, who was rushing towards the source of the alarm, stopped abruptly with a startled look.
He then looked up.
He saw a completely black eagle diving from the sky.
Qin Hu’s face became stern,
A messenger of the Prefecture.
An exotic beast trained to travel thousands of miles day and night with great endurance.
Could it be that Liu Ming hurried back to the Prefecture to report the situation, and Prefecture will send help?
That fellow just left after finishing his part.
Qin Hu thought to himself, raising his hand.
As the Mountain Patrol Eagle swooped down from high above, when it was close, it flapped its wings backward, stirring a gale.
Then, with eagle talons sharp as hooks, it grasped Qin Hu’s arms.
On one foot, it was indeed tied with a lacquer letter with a red ribbon.
Qin Hu untied the letter, his gaze sharpening as he unfolded it.
But, in the next second, the expression of this robust Han man dramatically changed.
“Lord Qin, what happened?”
“What news did the Prefecture send?”
She quickly moved closer.
Qin Hu turned his head slightly, his expression intensely solemn, and said in a deep voice:
“The Prefecture sent news that in front of the Prefecture’s doors, the Feixian Sect suddenly went mad yesterday, gathering forces to start knocking.”
“Utmost emergency, the Prefecture calls me back!”
After speaking, he handed the lacquer letter to Lian Nichang.
Lian Nichang, hearing this, turned solemn.
Taking the letter and looking at it,
“Last night, Feixian knocking, extreme emergency, return quickly to defend!”
Stamped with the seal of the Prefecture.
Lian Nichang’s hand trembled, breaking the letter, her eyes filled with suspicion.
“Why would the Feixian Sect suddenly go mad?”
“If there were any movements, the Prefecture’s spies should have issued a warning in advance.”
Qin Hu’s face was very ugly,
“I don’t know the reason, something we don’t know must have happened.”
“Otherwise, these madmen wouldn’t act so suddenly.”
Saying this, he felt one thing after another.
Each more challenging than the last, each consequence more severe than the last.
It was suffocating.
Just then, a voice suddenly came from outside the city gates.
Qin Hu and Lian Nichang exchanged glances.
Then, leaping into the air, they turned into lingering images, heading straight for the city gates.
At that moment, outside the city gates,
A goat-bearded old man, stroking his whiskers, looked rather solemn.
Then, with a sigh,
How did things turn out this way.
Kneeling next to him, a man with his arms bound behind his back, with a broad forehead and fierce brows.
“Old man, I advise you to be sensible; my sect members of Feixian will soon flatten this place, you...”
The goat-bearded old man gave him a slap.
“Shut up!”
At that moment, two figures thundered down from the city wall.
Landing in front of the goat-bearded old man.
The intense gazes of both fell upon him.
The goat-bearded old man, seeing Lian Nichang, was slightly surprised.
He was almost at Qingshan County when he saw this person by the river and wrote a short note about it.
He pretended to clasp his fist in greeting.
“I am but an elderly storyteller who roams around, and a few days ago, I passed through Qingshan County and settled down here.
But then, something happened, alas,”
He had the appearance of someone who didn’t know where to start.
“Oh?
So who is he?” Lian Nichang looked at the person kneeling next to him with his head bowed.
“A scout from the Feixian Sect!”
“They want to take revenge on Qingshan County,” the storyteller said gravely.
The storyteller, having escaped his predicament, separated from the grandfather-grandson duo, went to retrieve his luggage to leave, but encountered a major event in Qingshan County.
Sensing the aura of Qin Hu and others, he feared complications and stayed outside the city to monitor Qingshan County.
As it happened, like a blind cat finding a dead rat, he encountered a scout sent by the Feixian Sect.
Thus, he captured him, leading to the current scene!
“Feixian Sect again!” Qin Hu had just received the news of the Feixian Sect fanatics knocking at the prefectural gates, and now he saw a scout from the Feixian Sect, grinding his teeth in fury.
However, he quickly perceived the strangeness in this and asked the storyteller.
“Why would the Feixian Sect send a scout to Qingshan County and seek revenge!”
As he spoke, his eyes blazed.
The storyteller’s face twitched, recalling some unpleasant memories.
“And I happen to be acquainted with this gentleman, who invited me to his house as a guest.”
“This gentleman, just two days ago, personally killed three Divine Envoys of the Feixian Sect thirty miles east of the city outskirts.
I saw it with my own eyes.”
“And, this gentleman seemed to have obtained something important from the Feixian Sect, it sounded like a golden scale.”
“This old man guesses that the Feixian Sect must be enraged by this, hence the fury...”
The storyteller omitted some “trifles” and shared what he had seen and heard over the past few days.
Upon hearing this, Qin Hu and Lian Nichang’s expressions changed dramatically, almost gasping in shock.
The Twelve Divine Envoys of the Feixian Sect, they were well aware, represented the most elite forces in the Sect besides the four Venerables.
Each harbored a deeply embedded Demon Seed and had achieved Profound Body Perfection, with many a military officer’s blood on their hands.
Could it be possible that Chen Yuan single-handedly killed three of them and also took a prized treasure from the Feixian Sect?
Suddenly, everything clicked for the two of them.
All their questions seemed to have found answers.
The Feixian Sect’s sudden madness in attacking the Prefecture, must be connected to this!
However, right now, with utmost urgency, they still didn’t know the full extent of the situation.
At this moment, within the Contemplation Space,
Qingshan County had been dragged into this bizarre land,
which now was sinister and terrifying, filled with demonic shadows.
At this time, a family of four, a couple holding a lantern, protecting two children around seven or eight, looked outside at a shadow in bewilderment.
“Thump”
“Thump, thump”
The shadow outside was knocking on the door, the sound growing more urgent.
“Who’s there?”
The husband called out.
It was indeed eerie for someone to knock at the door so late at night.
But the shadow made no sound.
Instead, the dull knocking grew more urgent, like a harbinger of doom.
The husband mustered his courage and grabbed an iron pitchfork.
“Stop knocking; if you don’t leave now, I won’t be polite.”
With that, the shadow vanished.
The man, puzzled, still shaking with the pitchfork in his hand, moved to the window.
Then, he poked a hole in the window paper and looked outside.
It was pitch black outside.
But the next second, a pair of blood-red eyes appeared in his view.
“Ah!”
The man screamed in fright, stumbling backward.
At that moment, a gust of cold wind blew out from the window hole.
Extinguishing the fire candle inside.
Following that, with a creak,
the door opened.
A pair of bright red eyes magnified in the terrified gaze of the family of four.
Just then,
A flurry of pink petals came flying.
Suddenly controlling that demonic shadow.
Then, a stunning Purple-clothed woman appeared.
“Your light is out, and those ghostly things will take your lives; hurry, come out and follow me!”
The family of four hurriedly scrambled out.
Looking behind the woman, she was followed by quite a crowd.
There was also a donkey, a squirrel, and a fox.
A peculiar combination.
Meanwhile, amidst the surrounding fog, intermittent screams echoed faintly.
Chilling the people to the bone.
Cries intermittently continued, a ceaseless flow.
And just then,
The sound of “tap tap tap” footsteps came from all around through the fog.
The Purple-clothed woman’s complexion drastically changed.
“Not good, the ghostly things have appeared.”
Then she turned her head and shouted;
“Everyone, hold hands, close your eyes, and don’t move.”
The crowd panicked.
Voices cried out.
“My child, my child is gone.”
Causing utter chaos among the people.
The Purple-clothed woman urgently shouted, “Don’t move!”
The next second, a mass of fog surged towards the crowd.
“No no!”
Her expression changed dramatically.
But just then, a thundering noise suddenly arose, shaking heaven and earth.
Following that, the dark night sky seemed torn apart, suddenly illuminated.
A streak of silver light descended from the sky!
“Boom”
A loud, earth-shattering noise.
A silver spear fiercely pinned down a fierce, decayed figure onto the ground!
(ps: Two chapters of over five thousand words each.
I’ve heard from quite a few not understanding it well.
This is actually two narratives progressing parallelly, advancing previous characters, foreshadows, and clues to a climax.
