Evolution Begins with Elemental Domination
Chapter 296: Chapter 150: Invincible, Dongfu City’s Systemic Victory
"I must point out that the Juggernaut organization is also willing to offer support," the iron-willed colonel stated in a flat tone.
The super-organization known as Juggernaut was one of the four great allied powers. They had only recently taken their seat at the table, and to the outside world, they were known as a gang of bandits—an amalgamation of various major gangs and top-tier civilian organizations.
However, the Lorentz Conglomerate had already angered them by privately instigating gang infighting to harvest souls the day before, so it was now impossible to expect Juggernaut to follow their strategic lead.
"And another thing..."
The grim-faced colonel sneered, "Isaac has a message for you: Have your undead army tie down the main enemy force as much as possible. Don’t let them scatter."
Isaac was the nominal leader of the Juggernaut organization.
A shadow passed over Matel Lorenz’s face. He glanced around and realized that many powerful figures were missing—top-tier experts like the Secret Art Bishop and the Netherworld High Priest, all of whom belonged to the Juggernaut organization.
That bunch may have been loosely organized, but their combat prowess was not to be underestimated.
Ultimately, destroying the enemy’s key Rune Core location wasn’t their highest priority. If they couldn’t break through and it was difficult to secure kills, they would simply move on to a different area.
For top-tier experts like them, the individual contribution leaderboard was what mattered most.
At this, a nameless fury simmered within Matel Lorenz. Ever since he had regained his youth, transforming from a disagreeable man in his seventies, he’d been affected by the hormones and emotional taint of his Demon form. After a series of frustrating events, he had become prone to explosive fits of rage.
He took a deep breath, and as he looked back toward the various Teleportation Gates, he noticed that none of the arriving people were charging forward. They were all holding back, assessing the situation.
After yesterday’s crushing defeat, the Olan People were hesitant to act rashly.
The Dark Undead Calamity also gave them pause; they feared these supposedly neutral monsters would turn on them.
No matter how one looked at it, if the next, still-gathering wave of the undead offensive couldn’t withstand the enemy’s artillery fire, the entire situation would devolve into a stalemate.
Worse still...
The enemy wouldn’t just turtle up.
At the very least, that number one expert from Dongfu City and his phantom operatives wouldn’t cease their raids.
BOOM!
Dazzling flashes of Divine Sword Radiance erupted intermittently from the forest to the left.
After a long moment.
Terrible news reached Matel’s ears: another Demon Warlock from the Conglomerate had fallen to the enemy. This one was his own son-in-law.
It all happened too suddenly. All they knew was that after a seemingly stray Arrow landed, the so-called God of Slaughter had appeared in a flash, defying all logic.
After pulling off this feat deep within their ranks, the assailant had retreated completely unscathed.
He’d slain a key target right in their midst, and no one could stop him.
"This trick again!"
Colonel Griffin gritted his teeth, his fists clenching. A long-range Echo Arrow, arcing high as if a harmless miss, had sent out ripples of Spiritual Detection that scanned the area, providing the enemy with precise coordinates for a long-range teleport.
This was the same method they’d used before to destroy the Teleportation Gate he had been personally guarding.
Now they were just using the same old trick, only the target had changed from an object to a person.
For a moment, Matel Lorenz’s mind went blank. His only reaction was to release a Lv7 Shadow Guard and order his subordinates to lock down the surrounding airspace, to prevent the enemy from teleporting right on top of him for an assassination.
"Looks like you sold your courage to the Demons along with everything else," the iron-willed colonel sneered. "You might as well return to Oran City and wait for news."
With that, he gave a dismissive wave, completely ignoring the ugly look on the other man’s face, and strode away.
