’Sanctuary of Inheritance.’
’One-Star Basic Class Authority: Rune Walker.’
Su Chen had also learned about the class system from East Float FM 98.5.
One thing was certain: there was no information on any hidden classes.
The clearest message was that at least three Lv4 Runes were the cornerstone for class advancement.
Three Lv4 Runes of the same Element could grant a Two-Star class Authority. If the Elements were mixed, one would need a corresponding High Level of proficiency with an enchanted weapon or meet an even higher standard, such as using Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth to unlock the Warlock class.
Otherwise, one could basically only get the Low Tier ’Rune Walker’.
But there was a huge difference between before and after class advancement.
The first passive trait, ’Harmony,’ was particularly impressive.
Right from the start, it allowed two Runes to partially merge, even resolving conflicts between them to form a stable combination effect.
In other words...
Fireball Technique + Flame Burst = Bursting Fireball
Lightning Chain + Magnetic Skill = Magnetic Storm Thunder Net
Curse Skill + Life Absorption = Life-Devouring Curse Seal
’It opens up so many possibilities,’ Su Chen thought with a sigh.
Even skills from the Damage Attachment Stream could be cast together. That’s right—a Rune Walker’s punch could trigger two consecutive Attached Damage Effects, letting Flame Burst and a thunderous blast erupt at the same time.
However, the host Wenwen had also mentioned a new formula for attached damage.
It was about the Light Element.
Light + Gold + Wood = Holy Radiance
Upon a successful hit, it could inflict intense holy damage. What drew everyone’s attention was that at Lv4, it unlocked an attribute attachment trait. This trait allowed the light to carry another type of elemental damage with its attack.
This was simply a natural combination Rune.
Paired with the Healing Skill, it could even transform into an area-of-effect healing ability.
If a Rune Walker who followed the Damage Attachment Stream landed a punch, they could produce three types of attached damage.
’I’ll most likely get it.’
Su Chen had basically confirmed that this was the Light Element Rune he needed.
Combining his own situation with official information, he had already decided on his development path: an All Elements build to unlock a more powerful class Authority.
The attributes of his six major Runes were as follows: Water Mirror Refraction (Water), Flame Burst (Fire), Jingzhe (Thunder), Shadow Leap and Shadow Summon (Dark), and Telekinesis (Spirit).
In terms of Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Wind, Thunder, Ice, Light, and Dark...
What he lacked was...
First, the Gold Element.
He had a clear choice for this: ’Critical Hit’, which was revealed in the second batch of Rune Formulas.
Given his plan to develop All Elements, he was no longer considering getting the Frenzy Skill to pair with his Jingzhe Rune. He could even just use the rune to amplify a Flame Burst, which would also be a good option.
Second, the Wood Element.
The Healing Skill he already had could fill this slot.
Third, the Earth Element.
Su Chen didn’t have a clear path for this one yet. However, he planned to fight the hippos in the swamp sooner or later and try to take their Earth Element Runes. Considering their bodies were even more massive than the giant bears, they might even have a Lv5 Rune.
The heavy rain late at night didn’t harm aquatic monsters. In fact, after the low-lying eastern forest was completely submerged, it might have caused the hippos to leave their habitat.
’I wonder if I’ll ever run into them again.’
The first time they met, he had only relied on a Lv4 Flame Burst for damage output.
But now, with the Strong Thought Burst from the combination of his two Lv5 Runes, he could really make those monsters, so famous for their Defense Power, suffer.
’It’s all a matter of timing.’
Fourth, the Wind Element.
If he wasn’t being picky, he already had ready-made Runes like the Wind Blade Skill and a Wind Element shield. However, he wasn’t satisfied with them, as they were difficult to use in combinations.
Previously, the one he wanted most was the Flying Skill. Who wouldn’t want a pair of wings to fly? While his Telekinesis could serve a similar purpose, it wasn’t nearly as specialized, so the Flying Skill was still a high priority.
In addition...
there was the Wind Splitting Skill.
’The three-Wind combination is easy to form.’
Choosing this Rune meant committing to the Damage Attachment Stream Mage playstyle. This was currently the only well-defined path for a Rune Walker. One could even become a Damage Attachment Stream Warrior after sufficient physical enhancement.
However, Su Chen was set on choosing the Holy Light Skill for his Light Attribute. Fusing it with the attached effect of Flame Burst and then pairing that with Telekinesis would create a powerful three-skill combo. There was no room for the Wind Splitting Skill in that setup.
The Harmony trait clearly couldn’t handle a four-skill combination. Pinning his hopes on a future class trait was possible, but it would be a complete gamble. He could always fill that slot after his class advancement.
Unleashing four, five, or more types of Attached Damage Effects at once was, for now, just a distant dream.
’As for the final Ice Attribute Rune, I’ll just have to leave that to fate.’
The Snowfield was at the far end of the northern Earth Realm. The journey alone was of unknown length, making it nearly impossible to encounter any Ice Attribute monsters at this stage.
At least he could rely on sacrificial rewards to complete his class requirements.
’I’ll get this sorted out by the day after tomorrow at the latest, then I’ll complete my class advancement.’
Su Chen had always been decisive and goal-oriented.
It was easy to imagine that once the class system was fully revealed, the entire market would heat up. The circulation of Rune Essence would reach a terrifyingly high level.
This was, without a doubt, a major reshuffle.
Previously, many people had been wary of using up their Magic Slots, so they hadn’t absorbed Runes indiscriminately. Instead, they had crafted their extra Rune Essence into various pieces of Rune Equipment, since it could be recovered and reused later anyway.
Now that the Sanctuary of Inheritance had appeared, no one would be satisfied with the One-Star Rune Walker. Aiming for a Two-Star, single-Element class Authority was the safest bet.
To gather the requirements for class advancement as quickly as possible, the fastest method was undoubtedly to trade the Rune Essence they currently possessed.
Su Chen took stock. The two Wind Element Runes dropped by the battle-axe warrior, the Lv3 Thunder Strike attached to the Thunder Scepter, the Lv4 Lightning Shield, and even the Lv3 Spiritual Detection obtained from sacrificing eight Ashen Bud Flowers—all of it could be traded away.
