His eldest son was fighting a Powerhouse alone, and his situation was uncertain. If Tang’er’s life was also on the line, there would be no point in escaping with just Yang’er.
"Little Sister, I may be useless, but as your big brother, I won’t abandon you to save myself."
Tang Yang’s expression was just as resolute. He would not leave his little sister behind.
Seeing the determined expressions on her father and older brother, Tang Tang pursed her lips, knowing it was useless to persuade them further.
"Tang’er, it has come to this. If our family is to survive, we survive together. If not, we die together."
A fierce glint appeared in Tang Shaoqi’s eyes. At that moment, Yan Li sneered, "How touching, such deep family bonds. A pity, though. Only one of you can survive. Leave the Tang Family’s eldest young master alive. Kill the rest."
Yan Li directed that last sentence to his subordinates behind him.
The Tang Family’s eldest young master was naturally frail. Leaving him alive would make it easiest to interrogate him about the Tang Family’s hidden silver coins.
Kill!
The two sides quickly clashed.
Tang Tang’s Longsword danced like a silver serpent, coordinating with her father Tang Shaoqi’s Palm Wind to entangle Yan Li.
Yan Li was in no hurry to end the fight. He could sense that the young lady of the Tang Family possessed extraordinary Swordsmanship. Her Sword Momentum was so potent that a single moment of carelessness could cost him dearly. To end the battle quickly would be to risk getting injured himself.
He had his orders for the night: intercept and annihilate the Tang Family. He already had a strategy. The Tang Family was isolated, with no hope of escape. All he had to do was stall the father and daughter. Once his men had slaughtered the rest of the Tang Family’s Martial Artists, they could all join forces for the final siege. Victory was all but guaranteed.
Just as Yan Li dodged another of Tang Tang’s sword strikes and changed his right palm into a claw to grab for Tang Shaoqi’s shoulder, a dark figure shot out from the dense woods beside the mountain path, accompanied by a flash of sword light.
The sword light flashed, stabbing straight for Yan Li’s back!
As a Fourth-Time Skin Smoothing Martial Artist, Yan Li’s Perception was incredibly sharp. He sensed the dark figure the instant it appeared. Without turning his head, he twisted his body. The blade scraped past his ribs, tearing his clothes and leaving a bloody line on his waist.
’This Swordsmanship?’
Yan Li spun around to face the dark figure that had emerged from the woods, his eyes filled with endless frost. "Who are you?"
The dark figure landed, dressed head-to-toe in black, their face obscured by a black cloth, revealing only a pair of eyes as calm as still water.
Without a glance at Yan Li, he turned and charged straight toward the eleven Martial Artists.
The black-clad figure moved with astonishing speed, plunging into the chaotic melee. Their Longsword weaved through the crowd like a phantom.
Wherever the sword light passed, a line of blood sprayed. One strike, one throat. Several of them didn’t even have time to react before they were clutching their necks and slowly collapsing.
In just a few breaths, three men were dead.
Yan Li’s expression shifted. All the dead were his men.
If he allowed this person to continue the slaughter, all of his subordinates would be wiped out.
"I don’t care who you are, you’re going to die!"
Yan Li roared, no longer bothering with the Tang father and daughter. He had to kill this black-clad interloper who had suddenly appeared and ruined his plans.
"Father, stop him!"
Tang Tang swung her Longsword, exchanging a look with her father. The two of them shot forward in unison, their Palm Wind and sword light combining to once again entangle Yan Li.
Although they didn’t know the black-clad man’s identity, his actions clearly marked him as friend rather than foe. They couldn’t let this Fourth-Time Skin Smoothing Martial Artist break away now.
"You two are courting death!"
A vicious look flashed in Yan Li’s eyes. These subordinates had been personally trained by his master’s house. If they were all to die here, he would face severe punishment when he returned—even if he succeeded in killing the Tang Family and finding their silver coins.
At that moment, he stopped holding back.
Pushing the Qi Blood of a Fourth-Time Skin Smoothing Martial Artist to its absolute limit, his twin claws transformed into a sky-blotting flurry of claw marks that instantly engulfed the Tang father and daughter.
Not far away, Lin Yan, clad in black, saw this and frowned slightly, but the movements of his hands didn’t falter in the slightest.
’He did feel a pang of regret that his earlier sneak attack had failed.’
’He could kill Qian Zhengchu with his Silk Binding Sword Intent, but against a Fourth-Time Skin Smoothing Martial Artist whose Qi Blood was not in decline, it was still insufficient.’
Since the sneak attack failed, he didn’t hesitate, instead turning his blade directly on the Third-Time and Second-Time Skin Smoothing Martial Artists on the field.
’Each one he killed meant another Martial Arts Fruit.’
Three... four... five... six...
Lin Yan was like a ruthless reaping machine. With his Third-Time Skin Smoothing strength combined with his Silk Binding Realm, anyone at the same Realm was instantly killed.
At this, Yan Li’s remaining subordinates began to panic and tried to disengage. But the Tang Family’s Martial Artists weren’t fools. They didn’t need to fight to the death; they just had to hold their opponents back and wait for the mysterious man in black to come and reap the harvest.
Eight... nine...
"Die!"
As the ninth body fell, Yan Li became incandescent with rage, his eyes nearly crimson. He shattered Tang Shaoqi’s left shoulder with a single claw but didn’t even bother with a follow-up killing blow. Instead, he spun around and charged straight for Lin Yan.
More than the Tang father and daughter, he now wanted only to grind this man in black to dust and scatter his ashes.
The instant Yan Li roared, Lin Yan’s figure was already heading for the mountain forest to the side. ’He doesn’t believe his opponent would abandon the Tang Family members to chase after him.’
He had arrived in silence, and he vanished without a trace.
Yan Li froze.
’Chase him, or not?’
Most of his men were dead or wounded. If he chased into the forest now, the Tang father and daughter could escape. That would be a complete and utter loss.
If all his men died, he would face heavy punishment from his master’s house at worst. But if the core members of the Tang Family escaped, he likely wouldn’t be able to keep his own life.
"You’re lucky you run fast."
