Lin Bai, Yin Jiuling, Ning, Hu Qi, Lin Ye, Nie Xiong, the six of them landed, standing at the edge of the crevice.
Everyone lowered their heads and looked into the crevice.
Nie Xiong said, "These crevices have appeared in just the past two months. Now, over the Miracle Ridge, thirty-seven such crevices have appeared, and from time to time blood fiends crawl out of them, but fortunately, those that do are mostly slain by us."
Lin Bai stood on the crevice, looking at the dark abyss within, and said in a low voice, "Have you gone down to have a look?"
Nie Xiong nodded and said, "I’ve been down once; below is a boundless abyss, so deep that it’s bottomless. I spent more than one whole hour going down, yet I still hadn’t reached the bottom."
"And the further down I went, the darker it became, a darkness so intense that not even a light could pierce it!"
"Seeing I couldn’t reach the bottom, I returned!"
Lin Bai nodded silently and said, "You all wait up here, and I’ll go down for a look!"
Nie Xiong shouted, "But Senior Brother Dongfang, there must be blood fiends down below, you’ll be in great danger going alone; let me join you."
"No need, you all stay up here and wait." Lin Bai said, before leaping into the crevice, quickly descending.
Seeing Lin Bai go down.
Yin Jiuling, without a word, stepped forward and fell into the crevice.
Ning and Hu Qi then also prepared to go.
But Nie Xiong shouted, "You two, Senior Brother Dongfang told us to wait up here..."
Hu Qi laughed, "Isn’t it enough for you to stay up here to cover us? All of us just standing here waiting would be quite boring; one person to back us up is sufficient!"
Ning laughed, "We’re not his Junior Brothers, so we don’t have to follow his orders. We’ve always done things our own way! Look at Yin Jiuling, he went down without a word."
So saying, Ning and Hu Qi directly descended into the abyss.
And Lin Ye, not being very bright, would only follow Lin Bai’s instructions; since Lin Bai told him to wait above, he would definitely wait above.
Nie Xiong had initially wanted to follow them down, but remembering Lin Bai’s instruction to back them up above, he restrained his thought and stood alongside Lin Ye, patiently waiting for Lin Bai to return.
Lin Bai had not been descending for long before he sensed Warriors following behind. He turned back and said, "Yin Jiuling, Ning, Hu Qi, didn’t I tell you to wait above?"
Yin Jiuling, without speaking, looked around at the darkness and said in a low voice, "The darkness here is quite different, containing a very strong power inside; it seems only a Taoist Realm could achieve this. No wonder Nie Xiong said the darkness here could not be pierced even by flame."
Hu Qi came to Lin Bai’s side and said in a low voice, "Do we look like people who listen?"
Ning said, "Enough talk, even if it’s the Ghost Gate Pass, we’ll go together!"
Lin Bai shook his head helplessly and asked Yin Jiuling, "Yin Jiuling, do you have a way to light the path ahead?"
"Yes," Yin Jiuling nodded slightly, his face unchanged. He waved his hand, and blossoms of white flame appeared from nowhere.
This tiny flame, the size of a fingernail, immediately illuminated the surroundings, spreading for thousands of meters.
Piercing through the surrounding darkness.
Yin Jiuling held the flame and said softly, "Let’s go!"
Ning laughed, "Yin Jiuling sure has many incredible methods!"
Lin Bai said, "Since we’re all here, be careful."
Speaking, the four of them swiftly moved downward.
According to Nie Xiong, he descended for over an hour and neither encountered blood fiends nor reached the bottom.
Thus, Lin Bai and the others didn’t pause at all, heading straight downward, flying with all their might.
A moment later, they arrived at the depths below.
Hu Qi said in a low voice, "We’ve reached the bottom!"
The four of them landed, standing beneath the boundless abyss.
Yin Jiuling’s white candlelight illuminated the surroundings, allowing Lin Bai and the others to see the movements around them.
Ning said, "This place seems to have a huge underground palace, and where we are now appears to be a passageway of that palace."
"Yes," Lin Bai responded, walking forward.
Walking in this difficult passageway.
"Screech, screech, screech..."
"Caw, caw, caw..."
As Lin Bai took a few steps forward, strange cries sounded from the darkness ahead.
Lin Bai immediately stopped, his expression icy as he looked ahead.
At this moment, from within the darkness, came the sound of flapping wings, and a monster’s silhouette gradually appeared in the light.
All four looked up, seeing the creature just as Zhuo Lian had described—similar to the Human Clan, having a head but no ears, no eyes, no nose, entirely hairless, the body emaciated, with flesh wings sprouting from its back, a huge blood-red mouth in the center of its face, its visage extremely grotesque and terrifying.
"Is this the blood fiend?"
Ning asked.
Lin Bai’s expression flashed, the demonic sword appeared from the storage bag, and with a furious slash forward.
With one strike, the blood fiend was split in half.
A puddle of green blood spilled on the ground.
Slaying the fiend, Lin Bai moved forward again, coldly saying, "Ahead may be more dangerous, perhaps you shouldn’t follow me further."
Ning said, "We’re this far already, are you telling us to go back?"
Hu Qi said, "Enough talk, since we’re all down here, let’s attempt to explore and ascertain just how many blood fiends are here. Know your enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles without defeat!"
Yin Jiuling silently looked ahead and said, "I sense countless dangers at the end of this passageway, likely many such blood fiend monsters ahead!"
Lin Bai asked, "Yin Jiuling, can you sense how many there are?"
Yin Jiuling paused and said, "As many as the ghosts in Hell!"
"Let’s go, and have a look!" Lin Bai and the others cautiously stepped into the darkness, with Yin Jiuling’s white candlelight illuminating their path.
Exiting the passageway, they arrived at a whole new world ahead.
In this underground world, before them lay a massive space, dotted with some red glow.
Under the reflection of those red glows, Lin Bai saw numerous blood fiends, endlessly thrashing and roaring with anger within this gigantic space.
The four of them stood in the shadows, watching the vast space ahead filled with countless blood fiends, densely packed, making one’s skin crawl just to look at.
Hu Qi pulled out a compass from the storage bag, and instantly numerous red glows rose from its surface.
In the blink of an eye, the red glows occupied the entire compass. Hu Qi whispered, "Just the blood fiends here probably number as many as seven million!"
"Lin Bai, are all the blood fiends from this place alone?"
Hu Qi asked.
Lin Bai shook his head and said, "I fear... not!"
Hu Qi whispered, "If not, then winning this battle as we are won’t be easy!"
