"Therefore, I believe, if the Family Head wishes to train the new generation of the Luo Family..."
"Then Luo Yao is definitely an excellent choice."
"Whether that lad is willing to learn and deal with these matters, that is the biggest challenge."
Having said that, Lu Jun picked up the unfinished government affairs on his desk once again.
He slightly bowed his head and silently got back to work.
Beside Lu Jun sat Luo Ping, who occupied the master seat.
After hearing all that Lu Jun had said, He fell into a contemplative mood, as if lost in thought.
If everything Lu Jun said were taken as entirely true, without exaggeration, Then choosing Luo Yao to be well-trained as the next Luo Family Patriarch would indeed be a very good decision.
As for whether the lad is willing or not?
Well, that’s not up to him.
His father alone would not permit him to refuse.
And besides, handling government affairs
Is just a relatively relaxed mental activity.
Granted, doing too much can still tire one out, But traditionally, the task of handling government affairs, Compared to the grueling effort of cultivation, should be much easier, right?
Having made his decision, Luo Ping called someone from outside the room.
"Family Patriarch, what are your instructions?"
Inside a room within the Luo Family Ancestral Land, A servant dressed in the distinctive grey attire of the Luo Family, Now stood with head slightly lowered and hands respectfully clasped in front.
His face showed utmost respect for Luo Ping.
"That, um, ask Luo Yao to come see me..."
Luo Ping said in a low voice to the servant before him.
The servant nodded slightly, then turned and left the room.
In Qingshi City, on the Luo Family Ancestral Land, In a secluded place seldom visited by others, Luo Yao, recognized as a leading figure among the Luo Family’s new generation, was leaning against a centuries-old tree while quietly watching Luo Ze practice with the longsword in his hand.
Since when had it become such that, Not stopping by each day to watch little Luo Ze swing his longsword made him feel uncomfortable all over?
Perhaps he sought to motivate himself with the boy’s diligence and persistence, Or maybe it was simply an excuse he found for himself to slack and goof off, An excuse to comfort and gloss over his own laziness.
"Haah..."
As time passed, About a moment later, Luo Yao couldn’t help but yawn lightly.
At this moment, his eyes started to show a hint of sleepiness.
Although it was broad daylight, His mind was already filled with a touch of weariness.
This was mainly because he had cultivated too late into the night and did not get enough sleep.
Of course, it was not because he was too diligent which led to this, But rather, he had been lazy and slacking off all of the previous day, Until the evening came and the sun set, and only then did he gradually remember that he had a certain amount of cultivation to complete each day.
So... things turned out this way.
"Young Master..."
Beside a centuries-old tree, Just as Luo Yao was about to close his eyes and rest against the tree for a while, A faint call suddenly rang in his ear.
Luo Yao opened his eyes and looked at the grey-clad servant beside him, his expression slightly puzzled as he asked softly, "What’s the matter? Has something happened?"
The grey-clad servant bowed slightly, his face filled with respectful deference as he said softly, "Young Master, the Patriarch is looking for you..."
Luo Yao’s expression was slightly surprised, "The Family Head is looking for me?"
"What is it about?"
He shrank his neck slightly as if a little afraid.
Because he knew. Under normal circumstances, matters like this surely meant no good.
The gray-clad servant shook his head slightly, indicating he was not privy to the matter.
"You don’t know either?"
Luo Yao let out a slight sigh and then spoke with a hint of helplessness, "Fine, since it’s like this, I’ll go then..."
Having said that, Luo Yao left the side of the centuries-old tree he had been leaning against.
He first stretched lightly, loosening what seemed to be a stiff body.
Afterward, he walked straight in a certain direction.
And that direction was precisely where the Luo Family current Patriarch’s room was located.
Not long after. Luo Yao arrived at his destination.
In the room, he looked at Luo Ping who was the current Luo Family Patriarch.
He swallowed hard and then tentatively asked in a low voice, "May I know what matter the Family Head requires me for?"
Luo Ping looked at the Luo Yao before him and couldn’t help but laugh.
He even laughed until his eyes were narrowed into slits.
Seeing this, Luo Yao’s heart grew even more uneasy.
The sense of unease in his heart also intensified.
"There is nothing major I need you for," "Just something I wanted to discuss with you."
Luo Yao was silent for a moment, then asked, "What matter?"
Luo Ping glanced at Lu Jun beside him and then back at Luo Yao before him, still smiling.
He then spoke in a low voice, "I see that on most days, you seem to have nothing important to do. Even the cultivation that Elder Changfeng demands of you is often done in a haphazard manner. Therefore, I have decided that from now on, every morning, you should come here. You’ll watch me handle political affairs while seriously learning how to manage the clan’s internal and external affairs."
"What do you think of my suggestion?"
Following Luo Ping’s words. At this moment, Luo Yao was almost on the verge of tears.
Indeed, he had guessed right. There could be no good news from Luo Ping’s summons.
"Can I, can I decline?"
Luo Yao tentatively asked in a whisper.
Luo Ping was still slightly squinting, his face still adorned with a smile, as he spoke quietly, "What do you think?"
Upon hearing this, the sorrow on Luo Yao’s face deepened.
"I, I..."
Luo Yao took a long time but in the end, he could not utter even a single word of refusal.
Because he clearly understood in his heart. At this moment, he simply had no ability to refuse.
In the room, Luo Ping, seated in the master’s chair, saw that Luo Yao seemed to be gradually resigning himself to fate and continued, "Actually, this matter may not be as bad as you imagine. Most of the political affairs are handled before being submitted to us. We only need to decide whether we approve or disapprove of them."
"Of course, if you wish, you can leave your own opinions on the affairs that do not get passed."
"The people below will reprocess and submit the affairs."
"Until the affairs meet the standard we find satisfactory."
"Moreover, the time spent sitting quietly in the room, in an armchair, sipping tea while handling affairs..."
"Isn’t that much more relaxing than cultivation?"
Luo Yao looked at Luo Ping in front of him with a face resembling both crying and laughing, "What about Elder Changfeng in that case?"
Luo Ping calmly said, "I will personally speak to Elder Changfeng, so you needn’t worry about this matter..."
As the conversation reached this point, even if Luo Yao was unwilling, what could he do?
In truth, if he were to seriously consider the matter and choose between cultivation and managing the clan’s internal and external affairs, he might choose the latter.
Although the task was still quite tiring, Patriarch Luo Ping had a point.
It was the act of sitting quietly in a room, in an armchair, sipping tea while handling affairs.
Wouldn’t that indeed be more pleasant than arduous cultivation?
