Chapter 2817 Teleportation to the Sky Beyond the Clouds! The member of the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team who had sent the message to Fan Lou to inform him about the situation was one of his close subordinates. He was trustworthy.
Fan Lou had invested resources in this member and supported him because he wanted to have a better grasp of the happenings in the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team.
This subordinate did not let him down and immediately informed him of a situation he had just caught wind of.
Beads of cold sweat began dripping down Fan Lou’s back, and he stared blankly for five seconds before asking loudly, “What? Xi Fan is leading the people from Honor Absent Palace in proceeding with the investigation? Why didn’t he inform me of something as serious as this?”
This member of the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team could tell that Fan Lou was shocked and afraid.
Fan Lou held great authority in the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team, especially now that he had Feng Qing’s favor.
Given that he had the favor of one of the members of the Honor Absent Parliament and was also serving as that member of parliament’s assistant, it meant that Fan Lou’s future was limitless!
Xi Fan was one of Fan Lou’s close subordinates. Otherwise, he would not have been able to become the Vice Captain of the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team.
Xi Fan believed that as Feng Qing continued to favor Fan Lou, he would eventually tire of being the captain of the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team.
Xi Fan was determined to take Fan Lou’s place. Hence, he was over-eager to prove himself whenever the opportunity arose.
Xi Fan never anticipated that his actions would displease Fan Lou. Normally, the captain of a Boundary Patrol Team did not leave his post.
He had represented Fan Lou without causing the supervisors from Honor Absent Palace to become suspicious. Rather than being angry at him, Fan Lou should be praising him for his work!
Fan Lou groaned to himself. He should not have accepted Feng Qing’s invitation to participate in the Chaos Wind Demon Wolves’ meeting today. He also should not have helped Feng Qing to pass on a message after the meeting ended.
If another lifeform in the Class 2 world evolved to World Emperor/Divine Kingdom while Xi Fan was leading the supervisors from Honor Absent Palace, he would have bungled the job that Lin Yuan had given him!
If that happened, he could not hope to continue living. With this thought, Fan Lou felt he needed to use the jade crystal to contact Winter. He would ask Winter to inform Lin Yuan to hold back on evolving lifeforms.
But it did not take long for Fan Lou to change his mind. Xi Fan had already begun leading the supervisors around. It was too late for him to send a report. It would be pointless to do so now.
Acting in hindsight would never please one’s superiors. If he contacted Lin Yuan and nothing happened during the investigation, it would lead Lin Yuan to think he was incompetent.
After all, with Fan Lou’s authority, he would not be able to put a stop to this investigation even if he returned to the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team now.
... Once Fan Lou was back at the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team’s headquarters, he rushed in to see Xi Fan speaking to a man and a woman. He was bent down on one knee and was in a servile position.
The man and woman did not have austere expressions on their faces. Fan Lou let out an internal sigh of relief.
The supervisors conducting the surprise investigation of the Boundary Patrol Teams would not be staying with the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team for long. It was likely they were only still there because they were waiting for him, the captain, to return before giving him the gift.
After thinking for a moment, Fan Lou smiled and approached them.
“I’m so sorry. I was helping Lord Feng Qing with some matters and was delayed. I’m sure the two of you have finished with your investigation. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened with the universe territories under the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team’s control. If something had happened, I would have learned my lesson from last time and informed Lord Feng Qing immediately so he could send a report to Honor Absent Palace!”
Fan Lou spoke courteously, and no one could fault his demeanor. However, he mentioned Feng Qing, a member of the Honor Absent Parliament, multiple times so he could subversively leverage Feng Qing’s status to elevate himself.
The two supervisors came across this situation often. Half of the Boundary Patrol Team captains had networks and links. It was a cushy job!
It was because of this that people often tried to claim more profits through underhanded means.
The male supervisor coughed. “It’s true that nothing unusual was found during the investigation. However, the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team had a major issue in the past. Whether there are truly issues is still yet to be decided.
“We are currently discussing whether there is a need to investigate the territory where the issue took place. Captain Fan, now that you’re back, why don’t you come with us?”
Fan Lou relaxed when he heard that. These were nothing more than cursory statements.
The two supervisors were carrying heavy responsibilities. If issues were found in the areas they investigated, they would not be able to shirk any of the repercussions.
Their words were only meant to give him a warning. If he did not give them benefits, they would make life difficult for him!
Fan Lou hurriedly took out the items he had prepared.
“Of course, taking you there is no issue. But the two of you must be tired from checking on the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team! I will send someone to prepare a meal. Please take a Layered-Cloud Purple Reishi each as my greeting gift to the two of you!”
The male and female supervisors’ eyes lit up when they saw what Fan Lou had taken out.
The Layered-Cloud Purple Reishi grew on mountain peaks. Once it matured, it would gather clouds and mist around it, making it extremely hard to find. The Light Wind Wolves had an easier time attaining the Layered-Cloud Purple Reishi because of their bloodline skills. Hence, the two supervisors were unsurprised that Fan Lou possessed the Layered-Cloud Purple Reishi.
However, they had not expected him to be willing to give away something so precious.
It seemed that the rumors about Fan Lou receiving heavy rewards from Feng Qing were true!
The female supervisor received the Layered-Cloud Purple Reishi from Fan Lou before saying, “We won’t be having the meal. We still need to check on the other Boundary Patrol Teams. Captain Fan, fate willing, we will be able to meet again! I hope that the Sixth Boundary Patrol Team will not have any issues during the next check!”
The two supervisors from Honor Absent Palace left. Fan Lou pursed his lips.
It was unlikely that the two of them would be back to check on them! Honor Absent Palace would never allow the same group of supervisors to check on the same Boundary Patrol Team repeatedly. They were concerned that the team and supervisors would begin colluding.
Moreover, it was unlikely there would be another check for a long time after this one!
The member of the Boundary Patrol Team who had reported the matter to Fan Lou sensed that something was off about Fan Lou.
He did not dare to draw close to Fan Lou and kept his distance. Xi Fan did not know that Fan Lou had been enraged by his behavior. He even believed that he had helped Fan Lou and was anxious to receive rewards for his contribution!
“Captain, you weren’t around when the supervisors arrived. I started leading them in the investigation first because I didn’t want them to wait. Didn’t you spend a lot of resources on that territory? I made sure to bring the supervisors there so that they’d be able to sense how serious we are. The two supervisors gave very high ratings.”
Xi Fan was adept at saying pretty words and made a habit of flattering Fan Lou as well. Otherwise, Fan Lou would not have begun viewing him as a close subordinate and given him so much authority.
At first, Fan Lou had been livid. However, unless something happened, Fan Lou had been planning to let Xi Fan go.
He had not expected Xi Fan to take the two supervisors to the area he had sternly ordered to be sealed off!
Xi Fan’s actions were the equivalent of putting Fan Lou’s life on the line!
Fan Lou’s eyes brimmed with a cold and killing intent, and he gently patted Xi Fan’s shoulder twice.
“Xi Fan, we have worked together for so long. You have worked hard all these years as my second-in-command. In a few days, the Light Wind Wolves need a few helpers for an operation. If you’re able to do things as well as you did this time, I can recommend you to Lord Feng Qing. That’ll give you the chance to be like me!”
Xi Fan was overjoyed. He had not noticed the cold glint in Fan Lou’s eyes at all.
Fan Lou had decided that Xi Fan would die during that operation. Then, he would promote another Vice Captain who would report everything to him and listen to him obediently.
Fan Lou had promoted Xi Fan in the past out of convenience. But this time, it would be for his peace of mind.
... Lin Yuan had no idea that this hiccup had taken place. Lin Yuan had not helped another fey to evolve ever since Dark Blue reached World Emperor/Divine Kingdom. He also had not caused any other commotion for some time.
Once Lin Yuan left, it was unlikely that another lifeform would be able to evolve on its own.
The world wills would suppress the evolution of the native feys. It was only when a Class 2 world evolved to Class 3 and the world wills transformed that the barrier to evolving to World Emperor/Divine Kingdom would be lowered.
... The journey took a few days. The Immortal Kill Food Sky Butterfly finally arrived at Epoch God Palace.
The Moon Empress immediately spotted the towering Four Seasons Mountain.
After staring serenely at the Four Seasons Mountain for a moment, the Moon Empress said calmly, “Little Yuan, I remember you telling me about faeries. They are lifeforms that have evolved from natural formations such as mountains and rivers. This mountain should have the potential to evolve, right?”
The Moon Empress had seen Begin Lady and Celestial Sight and was very curious about faeries.
Lin Yuan smiled and nodded. “Master, this mountain is called the Four Seasons Mountain. If it’s able to evolve into a faerie, it will be of a much higher level than Begin Lady and Celestial Sight!
“However, we won’t be able to help it to evolve before we leave for the Sky Beyond the Clouds. We will need an immense amount of energy to teleport to the Sky Beyond the Clouds. This immense amount of energy will be supplied by the Four Seasons Mountain!”
The Moon Empress nodded. It seemed that Lin Yuan had already made all the arrangements.
Blood Love frowned slightly. Lifeforms always had to undertake suffering and risk to evolve. It went without saying that the journey would be even more difficult for natural formations.
“Lin Yuan, will the Four Seasons Mountain be affected if we use its energy for the teleportation? Didn’t you say that the Abyssal Beasts are also able to travel from the main world to the Sky Beyond the Clouds?”
When Lin Yuan heard that, he immediately understood what Blood Love was thinking.
It was true that Abyssal Beasts were also able to travel between the main world and Sky Beyond the Clouds.
Lin Yuan could also use the Ethereal Jellyfish’s exclusive skill to catch and take control of young Abyssal Beasts.
However, using Abyssal Beasts for travel required a location to be set. They would not be able to reach the Sky Beyond the Clouds if they traveled blindly.
Before Lin Yuan spoke, Spring said with utmost seriousness, “You don’t have to worry about this. The teleportation will indeed use up the Four Seasons Mountain’s energy but won’t harm its roots. The energy it depleted can be replenished in the Sky Beyond the Clouds.
“The Four Seasons Mountain’s four seasons power is full of potential. It was unable to receive any fate-changing opportunities because it was born in this world. The Four Seasons Mountain is blessed to have met you, Young Master!”
Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter also started addressing Lin Yuan as ‘Young Master’ when they were in the presence of others. Unless it was absolutely necessary, they did not want to reveal Lin Yuan’s identity as the Saint to others.
Blood Love smiled when she heard what Summer said. She was used to deciding things through violence and was no saint. Her mindset only started to change after she became a Heavenly Family Fey.
Blood Love had indeed learned a lot during its time in the Heavenly Family Cottage. One of such was empathy for all lifeforms.
The Moon Empress was very satisfied with the change in Blood Love’s attitude.
Blood Love had been too bloodthirsty in the past. It did not benefit Lin Yuan to have such a character by his side.
Winter said softly, “Young Master, are you going to head to the Sky Beyond the Clouds now or wait for a few days? I am done charging the Space Tunnel, and it can be used for teleportation at any time. I have counted all your white-clothed followers. Everyone is present.”
Lin Yuan had stayed in Epoch God Palace for a very long time. He had already obtained all the resources he needed, so there was no longer any need for him to continue remaining in Epoch God Palace.
“Winter, go and make the preparations. Since it will be teleportation, we’ll be able to reach the Sky Beyond the Clouds very soon. Let’s not dawdle in Epoch God Palace!
“Remember not to harm the Four Seasons Mountain’s roots during the teleportation. If you can’t guarantee this, I have spirit qi crystals that will be able to help.”
By now, the Four Seasons Mountain already had intelligence and was able to sense its surroundings.
When the Four Seasons Mountain heard what Lin Yuan said, it swayed its body in response to Lin Yuan.
Wildflowers bloomed at the foot of the mountain, and the plants on the side of the mountain were in full bloom. Further up the mountain was enveloped in the throws of autumn, and red leaves danced in the air. The peak of the mountain was covered with white snow.
In an instant, the Four Seasons Mountain seemed to come alive.
