Chapter 2706: Clash of the Captains! The Death -Drawing Bladderworm absorbed all of the death aura.
When Liu Jie’s Death -Drawing Bladderworm encountered death aura, it could demonstrate its competence as an insect-species carcinoma fey.
Lin Yuan’s sea of flowers and Liu Jie’s sea of insects stretched out for hundreds of kilometers. Hence, the effects of the fighting taking place at the boundaries of the sea of flowers did not carry on to the main areas where the participants were located.
As such, the participants had no idea that the dead spirits were locked in a fierce battle with the seas of flowers and insects.
The audience watching all of this with a bird-eyed perspective was essentially watching a 3D movie where three groups of species were battling it out for dominance.
The three species were killing and consuming each other. The brutal vine ramets born from Red Thorn’s spores saw the dead spirits as a
source of nourishment. In return, the dead spirits utilized their bodies to damage the outer layer of the sea of flowers, attempting to breach it.
Red Thorn’s unique child ramets could disperse spores amid the mass of dead spirits. Once these dead spirits perished, the spores would sprout within their lifeless remains, taking over the territory once controlled by the dead spirits.
The crimson, gill-shaped petals absorbed death aura, causing them to gradually turn purplish-red.
The more the brutal vine ramets attacked the dead spirits, the higher the proportion of death energy in their digestive fluids. This death energy aided Red Thorn in breaking down the dead spirits’ corpses.
As time passed, the flower sea and the camp of dead spirits dwindled rapidly.
It was unclear which side had the upper hand, but the sea of flowers had not yet receded under the onslaught of the dead spirits.
In fact, if Lin Yuan wished to expand the sea of flowers’ size, he could instruct Red Thorn to produce the Eyes of Relinquish to suppress the waves of dead spirits.
At present, each Eye of Relinquish stored enough energy for Red Thorn to generate a flower sea spanning 50 square kilometers.
After Red Thorn evolved, the Eyes of Relinquish became reliable sources of backup energy for Red Thorn, unlike in the past when using all of the Eyes of Relinquish would only enable the sea of flowers to expand to twice its original size.
Undeniably, there was another important reason for Lin Yuan’s sea of flowers being able to restrain the dead spirits, which was that Liu Wencheng had restrained the difficulty of the test when creating the environment. The strongest dead spirit would only be around as strong as a Diamond fey.
Every child ramet Red Thorn produced would be as strong as the strongest possible dead spirit.
There was no question that the battle between Liu Jie’s insect-species carcinoma feys and the dead spirits wave was much more intense and exciting to watch than the one between the sea of flowers and dead spirits.
Liu Jie summoned the Halberd Corner Sky-Defying Rhinoceros Beetle, and it was continuously adding metal-attributes to the insects produced by the insect-species carcinoma feys. The metal attributes significantly raised the insects’ overall power.
Elegance produced insects in a never-ending stream. Liu Jie kept on using Shield Ladybugs as hosts for the Blade Queen Bee to make Blade Worms.
The primary sources of firepower were the Flowing Plasma Electricity Insects and Electromagnetic Chrysalises.
The Flowing Plasma Electricity Insects spewed out a lot of plasma that formed a gooey substance. This goo had a potent paralyzing effect, causing continuous electrical-type damage to any dead spirits that touched it.
Electrical-type attacks were especially harmful to dead spirits, surpassed only by light-type attacks.
When the Electromagnetic Chrysalises transformed into cocoons, they sped up plasma coagulation and ejection. When they assumed their moth form, they harnessed the plasma in their bodies to control nearby targets through electromagnetic forces.
The Flowing Plasma Electricity Insects and Electromagnetic Chrysalises were the main defenders against the dead spirits.
Meanwhile, Elegance created several batches of Six Treasures Cloud Dragonflies, which enhanced the other insect-species carcinoma feys.
This boosted the speed, strength, defense, and energy reserves of the other insect-species carcinoma feys, enabling them to unleash more powerful attacks.
Elegance allocated and coordinated the insect-species carcinoma feys so that the carpet of fungi encroached into the dead spirits wave.
As the army of insects battled the dead spirits wave, a few of the insect-species carcinoma feys even captured some of the dead spirits with the intention of using them as food rations for the insect army.
Long Tao, Xia Qing, and the others’ performances could not be compared with the likes of Liu Jie and Lin Yuan. Nonetheless, they were still able to use their individual methods to drive off the dead spirits and demonstrate the incredible capabilities of members of a Radiance Hundred Sequence.
At such a time, all the hosts would be praying to land on the best perspective from which to watch the test. However, in this fight between hundreds of millions of lifeforms, thrilling battles broke out on every corner.
Poison Beauty and Lu Shuang chose the sea of flowers and sea of insects perspectives. This ensured that their channel could cover the two most exciting areas.
The live-streaming rooms that did not have two hosts had no choice but to pick one perspective.
The advantage that Poison Beauty and Lu Shuang’s channel had was thus made clear, and they immediately shot to the top of the ranking.
Poison Beauty and Lu Shuang did not have to spend too much time explaining the battle as the audience could see for themselves the shocking clash between the sea of flowers and sea of insects and dead spirits.
The two of them were not aware of Lin Yuan’s sea of flowers or Liu Jie’s insect-species carcinoma feys. abilities. If they tried to explain what was happening, it was likely that they would make mistakes.
[Fantasy World Nether Flames]: When Lord Liu Jie and Lord Lin Yuan crossed swords, the sea of sand quickly swallowed the insect army. Because of that, I didn’t think much of the insects’ strength. But the insects are now able to take over the dead spirits’ territory!
[Light Beauty Flower]: Lord Liu Jie sure is powerful! He summoned many more types of insect-species carcinoma feys in his battle against Lord Lin Yuan. This means that Lord Liu Jie isn’t even using his full power against the dead spirits!
[Fatty Dragon]: That’s right! Lord Lin Yuan is using the sea of flowers and not the sea of sand to fight the dead spirits. If he used the sea of sand and pools of quicksand, the dead spirits would be immediately dragged underground!
Lu Shuang noticed that many people in the live-streaming rooms were discussing Lin Yuan’s sea of sand and flowers. She also did not know which was stronger.
Lu Shuang felt that even if Lin Yuan did not use the full power of his elemental source-type lifeform in his battle against Liu Jie, Lin Yuan had an important reason for not choosing to use the sea of sand against the dead sprits.
This reason was that the sea of flowers could absorb death aura, but the sea of sand could not! This was why Lin Yuan chose to use the sea of flowers against the dead spirits.
Lin Yuan’s sea of flowers was not only fending off the dead spirits but was also protecting the participants.
“Have any of you noticed that the large dark red flowers in the sea of flowers have turned purplish-red? These flowers have been continuously absorbing death aura. There are also insects in the sea of insects that are absorbing death aura.
“Otherwise, with the death of all those dead spirits, the concentration of death aura in the test ground would have risen to 30% higher than its current level! Do you see that the participants in the sea of insects and sea of flowers haven’t been affected by the death aura?”
Lu Shuang’s words did not stop the other people in the live-streaming room from discussing and comparing the strength of the sea of flowers and sea of sand.
However, they were both Lin Yuan’s feys. Even if the audience racked their brains, the Source Sand would never fight against Red Thorn.
Frankly, the Source Sand had taken full control of the underground of the test ground. The Source Sand was hidden underground.
Once the sea of flowers could not address the danger, the sea of sand would immediately step in.
Lin Yuan always liked to ensure that he had backup plans, even if the activity had a very low level of risk.
Lin Yuan stayed a kilometer behind the participants and walked leisurely. He used the sand ball formed from the Source Sand to observe these 40 participants. He saw that they were beginning to fight subversively after learning of the theme of the test.
Mu Yan was the first to speak. “I’m sure all of you know of me, even if you aren’t familiar with me. My name is Mu Yan and I was Sequence #100 of the previous Radiance Hundred Sequence. I am back in the selection because I didn’t manage to make it to the top 90 ranks in the reranking.
“Lord Lin Yuan said that the participants will be split into 13 teams and be led by leaders in hunting the dead spirits. We don’t know how many participants have gathered in the other areas, but I’m sure that we will be able to increase any advantage we have if we band together!
“In my team, I will do my best to ensure the survival of every member while we’re fighting the dead spirits, and I won’t use any intentional methods to reduce the team’s size or harm the team members’ profits! I swear this on my honor.”
Mu Yan knew that there were likely other members of the team who also hoped to become leaders.
She had prior experience from last year’s Radiance Hundred Sequence selection and knew how to present herself in a way that would allow her to stand out.
The best way to achieve this in this test was to become one of the leaders of the 13 teams.
Yang Nuanxin was the most special participant of those who were gathered there.
Now that the concentration of death aura in the air had been significantly lowered thanks to the sea of flowers, Yang Nuanxin was no longer as important. But she would become pivotal once the hunt for the dead spirits began!
However, Yang Nuanxin and the rest of the people close to her were insistent on revolving around the young man named Du Xing! If Du Xing also wanted to become a leader, Yang Nuanxin would definitely side with him!
With this awareness, Mu Yan did not try to engage with the rest of the participants. Instead, she immediately established her position as a leader and promised to secure the rights of her team members.
Now that they were at the tail end of the Radiance Hundred Sequence selection, they were all rivals. Mu Yan could not bring up and hope to bank on her status as a member of the previous year’s Radiance Hundred Sequence.
She had only mentioned her background to provide evidence for her power.
While she spoke, Mu Yan looked around at the crowd with a serious gaze. Eventually, her gaze landed on Du Xing.
When their eyes met, Mu Yan knew he would be competing with her. This was because after hearing what she said, his brows were knitted and he looked resistant.
Now that she understood her circumstances, Mu Yan spoke up first. “I am willing to become a team leader that leads the team to glory. Who is willing to take on the dead spirits with me? The participants in the other invigilators’ camps might not have asked about the contents of the test like I have. If we form teams first, it will be easier for us to recruit the other participants once we meet up with them!”
To this crowd, Mu Yan was no different from a celebrity. All of them had watched her battles before the Radiance Hundred Sequence selection began.
She had three Diamond/Fantasy feys and was one of the most outstanding participants. Moreover, with her background, she could easily stand her ground against the leaders of the other teams.
In a test with such a chaotic design, it was likely that only three of the ten members of the previous years’ Radiance Hundred Sequence would be able to survive.
After weighing the pros and cons, many participants chose to join Mu Yan.
When Du Xing saw Mu Yan looking at him, he thought she would extend an invitation to him.
If she did try to invite him, he would definitely turn her down. His previous experience of acquiescing and joining Yang Wenpeng had ended in deep regret. If he had not led his team in joining Yang Wenpeng’s team, more than twice the current number would have made it there.
It was difficult for Du Xing to trust others again when it came to such matters.
Mu Yan was not an exception despite being a member of the previous Radiance Hundred Sequence!
Aside from these considerations, Du Xing had his own selfish thoughts.
In the past, only the strongest soldiers made it into the Radiance Hundred Sequence. But now, leadership qualities held a higher weight. This was made clear by the complicated test format that the Radiance Sacred Hall had come up with.
It would be easier for him to pull ahead of the others by becoming one of the leaders.
When his eyes met Mu Yan’s, he could tell she intended to compete with him.
If he leveraged Yang Nuanxin’s fey’s abilities, he would stand a chance of winning!
However, most of the people present had chosen to join Mu Yan, and it was difficult to sway them toward leaving her to join him now. If they left a team immediately after joining it, they would come across as lacking team spirit, and their points would be deducted!
In this clash between him and Mu Yan, her clever move had allowed her to claim the upper hand.
Du Xing did not immediately declare his wish to become a leader. Instead, he told Yang Nuanxin, Qin Dong, and the others around him, “All of you have been following me so far. Are you willing to trust me again? We can form a team together.”
Qin Dong and Yang Nuanxin had been Du Xing’s teammates for five years and knew the kind of person he was.
“Big Brother Xing, we would have already joined the other team if we weren’t waiting for you to invite us!”
Yang Nuanxin waved her small fists and said, “Big Brother Xing, let’s create a team! My Cleansing Rain Sky Crane has been recovering. It will be able to recover most of its energy in another few hours!”
Du Xing’s question was a sign that he respected Yang Nuanxin, Qin Dong, and the rest.
Now that he had received their support, Du Xing declared..
