2671 Hope Amidst Despair! The rustling of the paper reverberated throughout the two floors of the mansion. The sound would not affect Gu Lang, An He, Xia Qing, Gao Feng, and the rest, who were in the midst of increasing their power.
Lin Yuan prepared himself mentally as he listened to the sound of the paper flying around him. Regardless of what conclusion the information pointed to, he would have to face it.
Rather than going to every single dimensional lifeform Dictator to ask them for updates, reading Wen Yu’s information would not only allow him to understand the situation immediately, but he would also be able to make the best judgment about the biggest issue caused by the dead dimensional lifeforms.
Lin Yuan did not have to wait for long. Wen Yu soon returned to human form.
She placed her hand in front of the stacks of word-filled paper, and they immediately flew into the air.
Eventually, three sheets of paper formed in her hand, and she handed it to Lin Yuan while saying dryly, “Young Master, this is the result of my consolidated and organized information. Things aren’t looking good in the dimensional worlds!”
Lin Yuan did not reach out to receive the three sheets of paper. Instead, he sat down and said, “Wen Yu, summarize it and tell me that version!”
Wen Yu poured out a cup of soothing Three Treasures Tea for Lin Yuan before she said, “The only dimensional world that hasn’t been too seriously affected is the alien insect world. The alien insects are still able to absorb the death aura from the dead dimensional lifeforms.
“The insect empresses are very interested in the dead dimensional lifeforms and have begun experimenting with procreation with them. Some of the insect queens and insect empresses are even fighting with each other for the chance to reproduce with the dead dimensional lifeforms!”
Lin Yuan thought, The alien insects are actually fighting over the dead dimensional lifeforms as though they’re resources!
The demon insects indeed had very strong bloodlines. Just a hint of their bloodline managed to enable the alien insects to hold their own against the dead dimensional lifeforms.
But based on what Wen Yu said, this might be the only piece of good news.
While Lin Yuan was thinking, Wen Yu continued giving him the report.
“Based on Carlos and Caroline’s reports, many Cowardly, Horn, and Bone Demons began decaying after being infected by concentrated death aura. Some of them are even showing signs of transforming into dead lifeforms.
“The Burning Flame Demons and Succubi are unaffected by the death aura. The Burning Flame Demons can burn up the death aura, while the Succubi can wield the death aura in combat after absorbing it!
“Some Succubi are even displaying abilities related to death aura. However, the Burning Flame Demon and Succubi are very rare species, while the Horn, Cowardly, and Bone Demons are the majority!”
When Lin Yuan heard that the Succubi could wield the death aura and use it as part of their mutated abilities, an idea appeared in his head.
Could it be that the death aura had stronger effects on dimensional lifeforms that were physically stronger? Meanwhile, dimensional lifeforms that had strong soul energy could withstand and adapt to the death aura.
The Succubi and Burning Flame Demons were known for their high intelligence. On the other hand, the Cowardly, Horn, and Bone Demons were fools that were only able to fight by instinct until they reached Class 10 or became Apostles.
Lin Yuan did not immediately bring up his idea. Instead, he continued listening to Wen Yu.
“The abyss demons had to do an internal cleanup. Carlos and Caroline are afraid that the Cowardly, Horn, and Bone Demons who were infected by death aura would turn into dead spirits and attack the other abyss demons.
“The Abyss Wombs produce Abyss Worms at a set rate. After the abyssal world was fused with the main world, the 18 levels combined into one. Carlos and Caroline gathered up the ten Abyss Wombs and began protecting them.
“According to the rate at which the Abyss Wombs produce the Abyss Worms, the abyssal world won’t be able to hold on for long. Rather than saying that they are reporting to me, it would be more accurate to say that they were pleading with me for help!”
At this point, Wen Yu paused before she continued. “The marsh world is in a similar situation to the abyssal world. It is also experiencing serious negative impacts. There are many species in the marsh world, like the Drugged Snake Eagle and Medusa Snake Demon that possess strong venom. They have all been strengthened by the death aura.
“The Medusa Snake Demon’s natural skill is petrification. But after absorbing the death aura, its petrifying gaze has changed to a deadly gaze. Not only will the target be petrified but their souls will be damaged as well. Unlike in the abyssal world, many of the intelligent species in the marsh world have increased in power.
“However, the Marsh Crocodiles are only able to withstand low concentrations of death aura. Once the concentration increases, they will immediately begin transforming into dead spirits and fall under the control of the dead dimensional lifeforms. The Marsh Crocodiles that used to be the marsh world’s soldiers are now the most uncertain variable.”
Lin Yuan’s expression could not help but change when he heard this. This was because the marsh world was the first dimensional world that he had taken control of.
Lin Yuan spent the longest time in the marsh world and understood the Marsh Crocodiles’ significance to the marsh world.
The Marsh Crocodile’s position in the marsh world’s ecosystem was irreplaceable. It was a source of food for countless lifeforms in the marsh world.
Many of the weak lifeforms that made up the Marsh Crocodiles’ diet also used the Marsh Crocodiles’ undecayed corpses as a food source.
The Marsh Crocodile was a hunter and a producer of food. They made up more than half of the total number of lifeforms in the marsh world.
The transformation of the Marsh Crocodiles into dead spirits might not mean much to the powerful dimensional lifeforms, but it would lead to starvation in the marsh world. The powerful lifeforms would be able to last for a long time, but the low-level dimensional lifeforms would not make it past five days.
With this thought, Lin Yuan interrupted Wen Yu’s report, “Wen Yu, use the Elemental Paper’s ability to fill 100 Diamond fey storage boxes with the Soldier Ration Radishes and deliver them to Hornless Dragon Source. Instruct him to distribute the Soldier Ration Radishes accordingly. For now, ensure that the weak marsh dimensional lifeforms will be able to survive.
“We can find other solutions later. After delivering the Soldier Ration Radishes, instruct East Glow to lead a team of around 50 Dictators to evacuate the Marsh Crocodiles that had yet to be infected by the death aura. This will ensure that the marsh world’s life cycle isn’t halted.”
Wen Yu seriously noted down everything that Lin Yuan said. She was silent for a moment before she continued telling Lin Yuan about the situations in the water world and subterranean world.
Compared to the situations in the water world and subterranean world, the marsh world and abyssal world were having very easy times!
The sea beasts in the water world could not adapt to consuming dead spirits and digesting death aura.
They had been able to hold on when the death aura was not so concentrated.
But now, they were incapable of taking in and digesting the death aura from the large amounts of dead dimensional lifeforms.
Although some of the Dead Decay Earthworms were given to the sea clans, they were far from enough to help the sea clans and water world dimensional lifeforms withstand the death aura.
A large proportion of the water world had already been contaminated, and countless members of sea clans and water world dimensional lifeforms had died in the death aura.
There were only a few species of water world dimensional lifeforms that were unaffected by the death aura. However, none of them mutated.
The mermaids were even more susceptible to the death aura than regular sea beasts. There were many mermaids who had lost their lives while being submerged in the death aura.
Rather than saying that the mermaids were giving a report, they were asking Lin Yuan for help.
The only thing that the mermaids could rely on was Lin Yuan, who was a thearch.
Lin Yuan could not help but purse his lips as he listened to Wen Yu’s report on the water world. He was pained by the injuries suffered by the mermaid species.
Alas, he did not know what to do. If he had a solution, he would not hold back from using it.
Lin Yuan always preferred prevention over cure. The sea clans were fending off the dead spirits together with the water world dimensional lifeforms.
The sea clans that were controlled by Vast Sea Labyrinth were helpless against the dead dimensional lifeforms. The sea aura was much more potent against the sea clans from the main world than the dimensional lifeforms.
Given that Wen Yu chose to bring up the water world first, it meant that the situation in the subterranean world was even more serious!
According to the previous tests, the subterranean dimensional lifeforms had the weakest resistance against death aura.
“Young Master, many of the dimensional lifeforms from the subterranean world that encountered the dead dimensional lifeforms have been afflicted by the death aura. Some of the Apostles who were infected by the death aura have begun to decay.
“Luckily, you relocated some of the Lan Imps. Otherwise, with the invasion of the dead dimensional lifeforms and dead spirits, most of the Land Imps would end up dead. Many of the younger Land Imps who were left behind have died after their bodies were infected by the death aura.”
Lin Yuan’s spirits fell when he heard what Wen Yu said. But he was not surprised.
He had already expected such a result for the subterranean world and had instructed the Dictators from the other dimensional worlds to lead teams to provide aid to the subterranean world. The aid teams would be arriving around a day later, and the subterranean world’s circumstances would take a turn for the better then.
The challenge would be helping the seas!
The subterranean world had powerful dimensional lifeforms going to help them, but Lin Yuan had no way of helping the lifeforms in the sea. After all, dimensional lifeforms that were more adept at terrestrial combat would only be headed toward their deaths if they were sent to the sea.
While he was being updated on the dimensional worlds, Lin Yuan could also ascertain if his guesses were right or wrong.
If it was true that a dimensional lifeform that had a soul that was a sufficiently high level would stand a chance of mutating in an environment filled with death aura, the Land Imp should have also mutated as it was an intelligent dimensional lifeform that had a soul level that was the equivalent of that of the Medusa Snake Demon.
Yet, the Land Imps had not mutated at all. This situation refuted Lin Yuan’s hypothesis.
Just as Lin Yuan was racking his brain to try and come up with a solution, he received a message from Keira through the Thoughts Letter Paper.
After laying the demon insect eggs, Keira had been recuperating and rarely contacted Lin Yuan.
When Lin Yuan read the contents of Keira’s message, he could not stop the delight from spreading across his face.
[Keira]: Master, I have only just woken up and learned of the issues that this world is currently facing. Can you provide me with some special dead lifeforms? The death aura is a special energy, so it can be consumed and absorbed by the demon insects. If I am supplied with such special energy, I can use it to nurture the demon insects. This might not only solve the dead spirits crisis but would also be an opportunity for the alien insects to prosper!
Lin Yuan was so ecstatic he almost started trembling. He almost forgot! The alien insects were just appendages borne from the demon insect bloodline.
The alien insects already had a naturally high resistance to the death aura. They were even able to use the death aura to improve themselves.
The demon insects had to be even stronger than the alien insects! At first, Lin Yuan had been so panicked that his head started to spin when he heard of the hell that had broken loose in the dimensional worlds. He had not been able to think of Keira at all.
If what Keira said was true, the demon insect species would definitely become a killing machine during the dead spirits crisis!
Since Tower Canon had already made their move, it would not be difficult to find the dead dimensional lifeforms.
Hence, Lin Yuan decided to send Dictators to capture a large number of the dead dimensional lifeforms and deliver them to Keira’s nest.
He hoped that the demon insects would be able to procreate quickly enough to bring him a big surprise!
Lin Yuan had no idea just how excited and happy Keira was after she woke up and learned what was happening.
As a demon insect, Keira could not care less about whether the humans lived or died.
The humans’ existence and survival meant nothing to Keira. Keira only cared about the demon insect species’ development and how Lin Yuan felt about her.
Lin Yuan had provided her with a large amount of resources. It was possible that not even the Sky Beyond the Clouds would be able to supply such resources.
If Keira wanted to reinvigorate the demon insect species, she needed to secure even more resources. The best way to do this was to gain Lin Yuan’s favor so he would willingly hand over the resources. Otherwise, she had no other way of obtaining such resources.
Moreover, allowing the demon insects to consume the dead dimensional lifeforms’ bloodlines and producing alien insects that could use death aura would also be a means of padding the demon insect species’ storage of genes.
She had just woken up and needed to start everything over from the beginning.
One of her main priorities now was to pad the demon insect species’ storage of genes.
Keira did not know if her suggestion would be agreeable with Lin Yuan.
After sending the message, Keira nervously waited for Lin Yuan’s response.
At that moment, she received Lin Yuan’s reply. [Lin Yuan]: You can let me know of any resources required by the demon insect species. Do everything you can to develop the demon insect species and fend off the dead spirits and dead dimensional lifeforms that are releasing death aura!
