2682 Turning the Tables and Strong Ice! Despite knowing that her Hot Ice Boiling Mouse would be able to transform the ice elements in the arena and immediately allow her to take the upper hand in the battle, Mu Yan was not happy at all because she had been forced to reveal her secret weapon.
She could still try to target other members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence she had an advantage over for the next two challenges. But once she was challenged by others, she would stand no chance of turning the tables because she had already revealed all of her secret weapons.
Mu Yan sighed softly. She might really end up pushed out from the Radiance Hundred Sequence!
If she really ended up being eliminated, she would join the Spirit Guards. They were currently recruiting young spirit qi professionals from various schools. With her background as a member of the Radiance Hundred Sequence, there was no way that they would reject her!
With this thought, Mu Yan looked into the distance where Lin Yuan was sitting. However, she was only able to see his silhouette.
This was when it dawned on her. Remaining a member of the Radiance Hundred Sequence was not the most important component of life. The most important component of life was growing continuously.
Now that she understood this, a passionate fighting spirit lit up in Mu Yan’s eyes.
The Hot Ice Boiling Mouse was a mouse-species fey that had already undergone a special mutation. As intelligent as it was, it was also very temperamental.
After being ordered by Mu Yan to attack, icy blue flames erupted all over the Hot Ice Boiling Mouse’s body. Instead of slowly spreading outwards, the icy flames melted all the ice in the arena into a gelatinous substance in an instant.
As the icy blue flames continued burning atop the gelatinous substance, an unsettling searing heat covered the entire arena. This reminded Lin Yuan of the alcoholic cakes that burned beneath the copper hotpots from his previous life.
At the instant that the Hot Ice Boiling Mouse used its abilities to transform the elements, the Shaman Ice Bear and Blizzard Wild Cow let out piercing howls of agony. The higher the grade of a fey, the more acute the pain of the backlash that came from two different types of ice-elemental energy clashing in its body.
Wu Ting thought that she had already secured control over the situation and had not anticipated this move from Mu Yan at all.
Now, the tide had suddenly turned, and it was Wu Ting who was forced into a corner and needed to scramble to deal with the situation.
If the Shaman Ice Bear had not tossed Wu Ting onto its back at the moment that the icy flames lit up, Wu Ting’s body would have already been burned to ashes.
It was not just members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence. Even spirit qi professionals who were Radiance Envoys were limited by their bodies during battle.
It was only when a spirit qi professional reached S-rank that his body would be able to condense spirit qi into a vortex that he could use to defend himself.
Once spirit qi professionals gained the ability to defend themselves, their style of combat would change drastically. The best way to tip the scales of the battle would no longer be to target the spirit qi professional directly.
Wu Ting’s reaction to the abrupt change in circumstances caused Lin Yuan’s eyes to light up. She was truly a battle-worn veteran!
Wu Ting had developed an outstanding ability to adapt in battle during the S Tournament. If she had any less battle experience, it would be difficult for her to adjust to such a sudden change.
With such an outstanding performance right out of the gate of the first battle, the rookie Mu Yan left a deep impression on many of the Radiance Federation’s citizens.
Although the fans who were familiar with Mu Yan were slightly concerned, they were not panicking because she had yet to use her actual ultimate killing move!
Although the Hot Ice Boiling Mouse had transformed the elements, Wu Ting’s Ice Mirror Hunter Sable could still use the abilities Tough Mirror Killing Claws and Mirror Surface Body to put up a defense.
Mirror Surface Body allowed the Ice Mirror Hunter Sable to enter a covert state of movement that allowed it to imitate its environment. The surface of its body would become a mirror that allowed it to absorb the elemental energy around it. This prevented its body from being damaged by elemental energy.
It was this ability that allowed Wu Ting to assassinate opponents during tournaments.
Not even a volcano environment filled with many fire-type feys could stop the Ice Mirror Hunter Sable’s movements.
Tough Mirror Killing Claws would allow the Ice Mirror Hunter Sable to use its sharp claws to work in conjunction with Mirror Surface Body to utilize the elemental energy that had gathered around the Ice Mirror Hunter Sable. It would use the elemental energy to attack a target, strengthening the Ice Mirror Hunter Sable’s deadliness and turning it into the perfect assassin.
It seemed as though Wu Ting was trying to counter and fight back, but she was still capable of being a threat to Mu Yan.
Wu Ting did not immediately instruct the Ice Mirror Hunter Sable to attack Mu Yan. Instead, she instructed the Ice Mirror Hunter Sable to use Mirror Surface Body to hide within the burning icy flames.
Mu Yan was definitely still on guard. The Ice Mirror Hunter Sable’s chances of success would be significantly raised once Mu Yan saw the Shaman Ice Bear and Blizzard Wild Cow were on the brink of collapse.
By delaying the Ice Mirror Hunter Sable’s attack, the strength of the ability Tough Mirror Killing Claws would also be raised.
It seemed as though Wu Ting was at a disadvantage and had no means of fighting back. But this was a performance that Wu Ting was putting on.
Battling on Star Web was different from battling in real life. On Star Web, one did not have to worry about one’s fey’s roots being damaged or death. Thus, one could fight with one’s life on the line without hesitation.
The 98 other members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence were all watching Mu Yan and Wu Ting’s fight intently. This was because there was a high possibility that they would end up having to battle the two of them later.
The Star Web’s hosts and commentators were currently enthusiastically analyzing the battle and giving their own insights. This event was the best chance for the Star Web hosts, commentators, and reporters to rise up and thrive.
It was fine if they made the wrong comments, but if they did well and were able to accurately predict the result of every match, their number of fans would skyrocket after the event.
The money they earned and their status in this industry would also be inflated!
Wu Ting silently sensed the Shaman Ice Bear’s condition. It could only hold on for another three minutes at most in such an environment.
Mu Yan’s two Ice Vein Frozen Bats had already absorbed the maximum amount of Ice Vein Frozen Bats and produced the maximum number of bats.
Mu Yan eventually sent the 30 bats she had been keeping by her side to join the attack.
It was clear that Mu Yan intended to finish the battle as quickly as possible and claim victory.
Wu Ting still had a gloomy expression on her face, but she was leaping for joy internally.
Once the Shaman Ice Bear used Zero Degree Disintegration, the swarm of bats would only lose their combat powers. After being disintegrated, the cold aura within the swarm of bats was released and used by the two Ice Vein Frozen Bats.
It was extremely draining for the Shaman Ice Bear to use its Diamond ability Zero Degree Disintegration.
The Shaman Ice Bear could not use the ability twice in such short succession. Presently, the swarm of bats was already charging towards her.
Due to the crumbling of the swarm of bats due to Zero Degree Disintegration, the cold aura that was released would lower the effects of the transformed ice elements and alleviate some of the negative impacts on the Shaman Ice Bear and Blizzard Wild Cow.
This would allow the Shaman Ice Bear and Blizzard Wild Cow to last for longer and defend against any secret weapons that Mu Yan might still have.
The use of precious instruments was not allowed in the Radiance Hundred Sequence selection. This greatly decreased the leverage that family assets could give a spirit qi professional.
However, Wu Ting, who had a plethora of battle experience, knew that staying vigilant was the true key to victory.
The Hot Ice Boiling Mouse’s transformation of ice elements had significantly impacted the two Ice Vein Frozen Bats. Although the Hot Ice Boiling Mouse had not targeted the two Ice Vein Frozen Bats, the environment would naturally restrict them.
Without the cold aura to use, the two Ice Vein Frozen Bats had no means of defending themselves against the Ice Vein Frozen Bat’s assassination!
Wu Ting pretended to be panicking and instructed the Shaman Ice Bear to retreat.
Mu Yan hurriedly instructed the two Ice Vein Frozen Bats to use the swarm of bats to launch an attack.
At this moment, Wu Ting suddenly instructed the Shaman Ice Bear and Blizzard Wild Cow to turn and take on the more than 50 Ice Vein Frozen Bats.
Wu Ting shouted out orders to the Shaman Ice Bear and Ice Mirror Hunter Sable.
The Shaman Ice Bear used the Diamond ability Zero Degree Disintegration.
The destructive swarm of bats suddenly started falling apart from the inside out and the cold aura leaked out.
The Shaman Ice Bear and Blizzard Wild Cow let out two simultaneous roars.
The Blizzard Wild Cow created another area of blizzards to take on the area created by the Hot Ice Boiling Mouse.
This change immediately attracted Mu Yan’s attention. At this moment, the Ice Mirror Hunter Sable that had been hiding in the layer of broken ice used Tough Mirror Killing Claws and attacked Mu Yan.
One attack was enough to kill Mu Yan and shred the Ice Vein Frozen Bats that had been blocking her.
The winds of this battle had changed again. Eventually, Wu Ting was able to retain her ranking and safeguard the glory that was attached to her title of Icy Waves!
The guild club that Wu Ting belonged to also had two other members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence. After the match, her teammate Feng Yao shook his head.
He had not expected this rookie to challenge Wu Ting! In actuality, Wu Ting still had another secret weapon that she had yet to reveal.
She had begun preparing this secret weapon three years ago. During last year’s Radiance Hundred Sequence selection, she had decided to keep this secret weapon under wraps.
But this year, Wu Ting intended to make it into the top 30 ranks. Mu Yan had unknowingly bitten off more than she could chew!
He hoped that Mu Yan would not lose her confidence in the next two matches because of this defeat.
As long as she still had one or two more secret weapons up her sleeve, it should not be overly difficult for her to make it into the top 90!
During the previous Radiance Hundred Sequence selection, Lin Yuan had created a sea of flowers as a shield so the participants who had gathered together could form battle lines to defend against external forces.
Mu Yan was only able to display her leadership and execution abilities when she had people around her she could lead and coordinate into teams.
Without someone like Lin Yuan, who could play the pivotal position, the participants would not be able to work unitedly even if they did gather together. This would make it difficult for Mu Yan to demonstrate her capabilities.
Hence, unless she made it into the top 90, it was unlikely that there was a spot for Mu Yan in this year’s Radiance Hundred Sequence.
After her death, Mu Yan reappeared in her seat. She had a rather defeated expression hanging off of her face.
At this moment, Liu Wencheng’s voice appeared in Mu Yan’s ear.
“Now, let us invite Sequence #100 Strong Ice Mu Yan to pick another challenger!”
Mu Yan’s expression froze momentarily when she heard what Liu Wencheng said.
Her title in the Radiance Hundred Sequence was ‘Strong Ice’. It was the name that had received the most votes on Star Web from the Radiance Federation’s citizens. She had attained this title because she had demonstrated a will as strong as ice.
Mu Yan was about to give up. But when she heard her title, she felt ashamed for entertaining thoughts of giving up.
She only had three main feys, and she had used all of their powers during the battle with Wu Ting.
Now that her opponent knew of her secret weapons, she would have no choice but to rely on brute force.
Mu Yan gnashed her teeth and said, “I pick Sequence #83, King Beast Blood Liu Hong!”
Of all the members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence, Liu Hong relied on his feys’ bodies the most and preferred physical battles. He was the weakest member of the Radiance Hundred Sequence.
Aside from absorbing cold aura to constrain ice-type feys, the Ice Vein Frozen Bats could also use the elements to freeze targets to lower the effectiveness of their attacks as well as agility.
Once there were enough bats, the target would become fully frozen. At that point, the Ice Vein Frozen Bats could absorb the energy within the targets to replenish and heal themselves or use the cold aura to divide themselves into even more bats.
Moreover, after using Ice Shadow Teeth to bite a target, there was also a small chance that the target would be cursed. The curse would cause the target to begin aging rapidly and lower the strength of their body.
Since she had not managed to achieve victory through skill and strategy, Mu Yan decided to use force to manage the battle instead.
Management was Mu Yan’s strong suit. Liu Hong was not at all surprised at being picked.
Given the current circumstances, he was the best choice that Mu Yan could have made.
However, he was no sitting duck that Mu Yan would be able to take down easily.
He had also significantly increased his power in the past year. It was only a shame that he was still a little weak when it came to comprehending Willpower Runes and only had two Fantasy Breed feys.
Liu Hong leaped down and was caught by the clouds at the edge of the arena. He stepped on the clouds and descended on the arena in a dashing manner.
This caused a few members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence to smirk. Liu Hong always liked to add flair to everything that he did. This way of entering the area was rather juvenile!
It would be fine if he won. But if he lost, he would be ripped to shreds and made into a laughingstock by the Star Web reporters.
Shi Xu’s lit up when he saw Liu Hong’s actions, and he shot a look at Zhao Xiaochun.
When Zhao Xiaochun caught Shi Xu’s gaze, she hurriedly shook her head.
She knew that he now wanted to enter the arena in a similar fashion and that he wanted her to join him!
She did not want to be embarrassed alongside him! Alas, Shi Xu seemed to be unphased by her shaking head. Zhao Xiaochun could not help but press her hand to her forehead.
It seemed that aside from spending money to treat her to meals, Shi Xu did not have any other strengths.
Nonetheless, she still liked him. If he ended up embarrassing himself she would pull him to the Spirit Food Pavilion after the Radiance Hundred Sequence ended and eat until her stomach felt like it was going to explode!
