Chapter 2704 Saved by the Sea of Sand! However, Yang Wenpeng managed to control himself.
He still had some restraint after the wave of impulsivity passed. If he used his feys to kill Wei Haodong immediately, the nature of his actions would change.
Given Wei Haodong’s current situation, there was no way he could survive the waves of rampaging dead spirits. Once the waves of dead spirits swallowed Wei Haodong, Yang Wenpeng’s goal would be met.
Yang Wenpeng sensed the tremors below him intensifying. He waved his arm in a large arc.
“Let’s immediately move sideways to the right and try our best to avoid the wave of dead spirits! Those in charge of scouting should investigate the positions of the dead spirits so we can avoid them in the C formation!”
Yang Wenpeng did not care if these people were truly willing to follow his direction. There was no way they had chosen to stay because they wanted to steal the leadership position from him like Wei Haodong did.
Yang Wenpeng believed that as long as he could lead the team to avoid this wave, his image as a leader would be boosted.
At that moment, a hoarse voice coming not too far from Yang Wenpeng said, “Big Brother Peng, our team no longer has any scouts! The spirit qi professionals who were in charge of scouting all left with Du Xing.”
Yang Wenpeng froze. He understood the meaning behind the scouting spirit qi professionals leaving him.
Originally, most of them had been following him. There was no reason to assume they were closer to Du Xing.
This happened because those scouts did not think they could escape the wave using the C formation.
But he was already stuck there. He could not change the plan now. Furthermore, even if he wanted to change the plan, he would not know what to change it to.
Luckily for him, those who had not left had yet to lose all hope in him. They were also those who did not have many opinions on their own, as well as those who had yet to see the reality of the dead spirits wave.
The team of more than 300 people truly intended on moving in a C formation and hoped that this would allow them to avoid the tens of millions of dead spirits.
Lu Shuang sighed and told the audience in the live-streaming room, “You will all soon see how a wave of dead spirits swallows a group of more than 300 people. I did not expect Yang Wenpeng to push on with the C formation to avoid the dead spirits. He didn’t pick up his survival skills properly but wants to call the shots. He is not only harming himself but also the entire team!”
Even if these over 300 participants who chose to follow Yang Wenpeng managed to survive the wave of dead spirits, they would never be able to get a spot in the Radiance Hundred Sequence. A few of them did possess decent power, but they did not have much brains.
Aside from exhibiting the outstanding capabilities of the younger generation, they wanted the regular people to understand the perils of the dead spirits.
Poison Beauty said sternly, “We should be moving our view away, but I think we should all understand what a wave of dead spirits is like. We need to understand this disaster that affects our life and see the difference between the dead spirits and dead dimensional lifeforms.”
Lu Shuang could not help but compliment Poison Beauty when she heard that.
Poison Beauty was becoming increasingly mature as a host. She was also more daring than Lu Shuang and said many things that Lu Shuang would never dare to say.
Lu Shuang was afraid that saying something wrong would attract consequential trouble. But now, she had Poison Beauty to help her to say all that she held herself back from saying. This expanded the range of content of her broadcast.
Lu Shuang could not help but think, I can work with Poison Beauty more in the future.
... Yang Wenpeng led his team and tried to avoid the dead spirits wave in a C formation.
Technically, they had executed a textbook version. But regardless of how well they executed it, it was useless because the application was wrong.
It was not long before Yang Wenpeng’s team clashed against the surging wave of dead spirits.
Every dead spirit moved at different speeds. Thus, the general shape of the wave changed every second.
It was as though the wave of tens of millions of dead spirits had noticed a delectable meal.
Yang Wenpeng felt his heart sink into despair. The closer his team got to the wave of dead spirits, the higher the concentration of death aura in the air around them.
The team members’ teeth, noses, ears, and eyes were all infected by death aura and began leaking blood. A few of their faces even ended up covered with bloody scabs.
People became dizzy when they were both mentally and physically tired.
Over 300 people lost their lives, just like a stone thrown into the sea, with no noticeable impact, among the tens of millions of departed spirits.
Du Xing’s team up ahead was not in any better state than Yang Wenpeng’s team.
It required energy to use their feys to charge forward at full speed. These feys would also be affected by the death aura.
Du Xing and the rest slowed down continuously as their bodies and minds deteriorated.
Yang Nuanxin’s Cleansing Rain Sky Crane flapped its wings gently and summoned a thin curtain of rain atop the group.
However, Yang Nuanxin persisted. Du Xing looked at the ghastly pale Yang Nuanxin, who was still pushing forward and using the Cleansing Rain Sky Crane to summon rain.
He then looked ahead at the desolate land and said, “Nuanxin, because of your fey, you have the most potential out of all of us. Qin Dong’s Nimble Moose is also the fastest of all our feys. It can also capture wind elements while running to reduce its energy depletion and raise its speed. So just take care of yourself and Qin Dong. Both of you should try your best to survive!”
Du Xing looked at the teammates around him, who were already showing signs of collapsing. He knew that even if Yang Nuanxin continued using the Cleansing Rain Sky Crane to take care of all of them, it was unlikely that all of them would make it.
Aside from being infected by death aura and their health suffering, their awful conditions were the result of being completely drained of energy.
Du Xing could sense that the vibrations under his feet were growing stronger. This meant that the dead spirits were getting closer.
If Du Xing was more selfish, he could use Yang Nuanxin to try to save himself. However, he did not do so.
Meanwhile, an eyeball formed from sand watched all of this from nearby.
After hearing what Du Xing said, the eye’s gaze lingered on him.
When Yang Nuanxin heard that, she was about to shake her head, but he continued. “Nuanxin, you should be aware that you have the greatest need to perform out of all of us. Your performance will save your family. Otherwise, Yang Wenpeng will definitely take action against you and your family!
“Qin Dong, I’m sorry things are hard for you too. If you didn’t have to stick with the team, the Nimble Moose would already be another 100 kilometers ahead.”
Qin Dong pursed his lips tightly and looked deeply into Du Xing’s eyes. “Big Brother Xing, the slower the Nimble Moose runs, the less energy it uses.”
Qin Dong lowered his head and said, “Nuanxin, you can make the decision. I’ll stay with you if you choose to remain with the team. I wouldn’t have lasted this long without your Cleansing Rain Sky Crane anyway.”
Qin Dong did not say that to console Yang Nuanxin. He had laid out his circumstances reasonably.
Because the Nimble Moose exchanged wind elements with the environment through its skin, the death aura had a more serious effect on it than on other feys.
Qin Dong’s body was not in good shape. His body was seriously affected when he first entered the test ground.
When Yang Wenpeng forcefully pulled away Yang Nuanxin, Qin Dong would intermittently cough up large amounts of blood.
Since Yang Nuanxin enabled him to make it this long, Qin Dong was willing to leave the decision to her.
Du Xing knew that he had reached the end of the line and was willing to help others who actually stood a chance of surviving.
However, the other participants did not want Yang Nuanxin to leave until all hope was truly lost, regardless of how arduous their journey was.
“Du Xing, what are you doing? We were willing to follow you when you clashed against Yang Wenpeng. What gives you the right to send Yang Nuanxin and Qin Dong off alone now? We know that you are on good terms with Qin Dong. What else does he bring to the table aside from his fey that is slightly fast? We all know that the Nimble Moose’s combat ability is extremely low.”
Du Xing did not say anything after being reproached. He also did not try to explain himself.
It was true that these people only left Yang Wenpeng’s team because they were following him.
Regardless of whether it was because of his charisma or because they realized that Yang Wenpeng’s proposed C formation was doomed for failure, Du Xing was grateful.
However, he never tied himself to Yang Nuanxin. When he charged ahead alone, he never took into consideration whether she would be able to catch up.
It was Yang Nuanxin who decided to ask Qin Dong to give her a ride. Du Xing was doing what he was doing because the team was about to fall. As the leader, this was the best decision for the team. If all of them died there, they would truly lose all hope.
If he was really selfish, he would have tied himself to Yang Nuanxin at the beginning and given her a ride on his own fey.
Yang Nuanxin knew that it would be difficult for the team to hold on. But she still did not want to abandon them.
However, what Du Xing said at the end touched her. Even if she did not think for herself, she had to think for her family.
“Big Brother Dong, my Cleansing Rain Sky Crane will cover your Nimble Moose. Order the Nimble Moose to rush ahead at full speed!”
The moment Yang Nuanxin’s words left her lips, a female voice shouted from nearby, “Thank you for helping us for so long!”
This girl used her two Fantasy Breed feys to shoot a beam of light blue light at the Cleansing Rain Sky Crane, forming a white imprint on its body.
Yang Nuanxin immediately sensed the Cleansing Rain Sky Crane being replenished with energy.
When the girl’s Fantasy Breed feys were done using their abilities, one collapsed on the ground while the other seemed dead.
Yang Nuanxin cupped her hands together in a fist and bowed to the girl before dashing away with Qin Dong on the Nimble Moose.
If the team was seen as a unit, this girl had essentially breathed life into their final spark of hope.
Those who were cold-hearted might see this action as stupid, but this action was heralded as a spirit of sacrifice.
Without Yang Nuanxin, the people in this team grew increasingly weaker, and the sounds of aggression from the dead spirits grew louder.
Du Xing turned to look at the astonishing wave of dead spirits. He pressed his hand to the ground with agony in order to prevent his weak body from being shaken by the tremors.
At that moment, a pool of quicksand appeared under Du Xing’s feet and sucked him in.
The sand did not crush Du Xing. Rather, a small room was created out of metal. He could move freely within the space.
The space had no death aura, and Du Xing and his feys’ spirits could begin recovering.
As the wave of dead spirits advanced, more pools of quicksand appeared below the participants. One of them was the girl whose feys had replenished the Cleansing Rain Sky Crane’s energy.
After a moment of confusion after being sucked into the pools of quicksand, these people suddenly remembered that Lin Yuan had used this move in the battle against Liu Jie!
Lin Yuan was one of the assessors of the Radiance Hundred Sequence selection.
When this thought struck them, these people were overcome with excitement. Lin Yuan’s action was not against the rules.
As one of the main assessors of the Radiance Hundred Sequence selection, Lin Yuan wielded significant authority in the Radiance Hundred Sequence selection and could decide which participants he wanted to keep.
These were all the people Lin Yuan had decided to save. These people were all shining lights. It would be a loss to the Radiance Federation if they were eliminated.
This especially applied to Du Xing. Lin Yuan could see the makings of a leader in him.
If Du Xing could not become a member of the Radiance Hundred Sequence, he would receive invitations to join organizations like the Spirit Guards.
Lin Yuan was prepared to snatch Du Xing from the Spirit Guards and nurture him as a member of Sky City’s reserve strategic team.
... Yang Nuanxin’s Cleansing Rain Sky Crane had recovered a significant amount of energy. With the Nimble Moose’s support and speed, Yang Nuanxin was relieved of significant pressure.
The Nimble Moose was also able to take advantage of its speed. As a support-type fey, the Nimble Moose was always raising its speed. When it ran at full force, it was much faster than a wave of dead spirits.
Yang Nuanxin could clearly tell that the sounds of the dead spirits behind her were growing softer.
All of a sudden, she realized that the environment around her had a very low concentration of death aura.
Before she could bring this up to Qin Dong, she saw a wild and savagely beautiful sea of flowers up ahead.
