2655 The Erupted Dead Spirits Well!
At the moment that Lin Yuan was done communicating with Bai Qinghuan through the Thoughts Letter Paper, he sensed that the entire Radiance Federation had started trembling. It was as though there was something underground that was slamming into the Radiance Federation!
Lin Yuan’s heart skipped a beat. He realized that the dead spirits crisis was beginning! Tower Canon was starting their Sleeper’s Revival plan!
Lin Yuan was not the only one who could feel the tremors. Every lifeform present in the Radiance Federation could clearly sense it.
The Radiance Federation had already released the news of the dead spirits crisis. Every citizen in the Radiance Federation was aware of this event. All of them had accumulated resources to prepare themselves to face the dead spirits crisis.
Nonetheless, they could not help but be gripped by fear. The movements became more violent, but the tremors did not intensify. At this point, the sounds underground had exceeded 100 decibels.
Although he had laid down the metal-type stone boards, Lin Yuan could not be certain that his defenses were sufficient as the dead spirits would be emerging from underground.
Luckily, Lin Yuan had placed Land Imps and sufficiently capable experts in every city. If the metal-type stone boards in any area were damaged, the Land Imps would be able to build the Dead Spirits Wells and use them as funnels to concentrate the direction from which the dead spirits emerged.
Aside from the Dead Spirits Wells that would be built after the metal-type stone boards were broken, Bai Qinghuan also built vents in advance. These would serve as proxy Dead Spirits Wells.
?? The area in a 100-kilometer radius around these proxy Dead Spirits Wells had already been cleared. This way, even if the might of the dead spirits crisis was underestimated, it would not cause harm to the environment and citizens in the area.
The dead spirits crisis was no light matter. The metal-type stone boards were indeed very capable of restraining the dead spirits. But if no vents were created and the dead spirits were somehow able to find a gap, the entire Radiance Federation would turn into a pressure cooker that had been sealed tight.
The Dead Spirits Wells would serve as the depressurizing valve on pressure cookers that prevented explosions from happening.
By now, dead spirits should already be rushing out of the Dead Spirits Wells.
It would not be long before the battle progress was reported to him, and Lin Yuan could assess the danger level of the dead spirits crisis.
At this moment, Lin Yuan was very glad that he had worked overtime and had not wasted any time.
The consequences would be unthinkable if the Radiance Federation’s defenses had not been completed!
The dead spirits crisis affected not only the land but the sea as well. Lin Yuan did not keep the decision-making power over the sea to himself. Instead, he allowed the Vast Sea Labyrinth and the Samsara Realm Dictators from the water world to take charge. Each party held an equal share of power.
Since the Vast Sea Labyrinth and the sea clans had migrated over and taken up the water world’s resources, the Vast Sea Labyrinth’s rulers were reasonably disadvantaged when it came to deliberating with the Samsara Realm Dictators from the water world.
But it went without saying that this was also because the Vast Sea Labyrinth respected Lin Yuan. They knew he was the true ruler of the water world’s dimensional lifeforms.
Zuo Ming and You Zhe took turns overseeing all the Dead Spirits Wells situated to the west of the Royal Capital.
It happened to be Zuo Ming’s shift today. At the instant that the ground began to shake, Zuo Ming instantly issued the order.
Hence, the Spirit Guards and City Guards on sentry duty were already in position and surrounding the Dead Spirits Wells. They were waiting for the Dead Spirits Wells to erupt.
No one had an exact grasp of what the dead spirits crisis would entail. After all, this was the first time such a calamity took place in the world! They had zero frames of reference!
Even if they wanted to build a simulation, they had no input that they could use to simulate an outcome.
Thus, Zuo Ming had trained the City Guards and Spirit Guards using the same method as when wild feys and dimensional lifeforms attacked cities in the past.
Zuo Ming had used the strictest methods to train these Spirit Guards and City Guards. But he still felt that it was far from enough!
Zuo Ming had sent out his order instantaneously, and the Spirit Guards and City Guards had acted swiftly.
The Spirit Guards and City Guards did not even have time to take in a breath before the first wave of dead spirits burst forth from the Dead Spirits Wells.
The dead spirits were not only singular entities. There were also specters that existed in soul states.
Luckily, the Dead Spirits Wells had many Soul-Revealing Crystals embedded into them. The Soul-Revealing Crystals could reveal the silhouettes of the specters. This allowed the City Guards to use their feys to take down the specters!
The Dead Spirits Wells only had a diameter of ten meters each. However, the number of dead spirits that were surging out had far exceeded everyone’s initial expectations.
Luckily, there were more than enough reinforcements, and the sentries could be rotated out hourly to rest.
The battle between the main world and dead spirits had officially begun!
There were emperor-class and thearch-class experts guarding every Dead Spirits Well.
Because of the large amounts of Creation Master resources that Lin Yuan had provided the Radiance Federation, the number of emperor-class and thearch-class experts in the Radiance Federation had increased significantly.
These emperor-class and thearch-class experts would not bother with the low-grade dead spirits as the Spirit and City Guards would handle them. The emperor-class and thearch-class experts focused on the dead spirits that were Diamond grade and above.
The initial wave of dead spirits had been overwhelming, and the troops from the Radiance Federation, emperor-class and thearch- class experts, as well as Zuo Ming, had all been shocked.
But once they became accustomed to this magnitude, the Radiance Federation’s troops were able to adjust slowly.
However, this did not make Zuo Ming happy in the slightest. This was because he knew that this was only the beginning. This was the new normal.
The troops were only just holding on. In a week, they would be exhausted.
The death aura was spreading continuously. They would not cause much harm to lifeforms in the short run, but as the lifeforms absorbed more and more of the death aura, the Radiance Federation’s troops would quickly grow old and decay. They might even become dead spirits themselves!
Luckily, there were Corpse-Consuming Vines planted in the five- kilometer radius around the Dead Spirits Wells.
These Corpse-Consuming Vines had been brought in from the marsh world. In past experiments, they proved to not only be unaffected by death aura but would even thrive in an environment rich with death aura.
These Corpse-Consuming Vines could handle the dead spirits that were Bronze grade and below.
The Corpse-Consuming Vines would reproduce and grow stronger after consuming the dead spirits.
After a day passed, not only had the Corpse-Consuming Vines not been destroyed by the dead spirits, but they were even stronger than they had been a day ago. The Corpse-Consuming Vines would definitely be a major killing machine of dead spirits!
Unfortunately, the Corpse-Consuming Vines could only handle the dead spirits’ corpses. They could not absorb the death aura from the dead spirits.
Zuo Ming intended to tell all this to You Zhe when he arrived to take over for his shift.
Zuo Ming knew that the hardest workers in the Radiance Federation were the Creation Masters.
The Creation Masters were all working overtime to either nurture the feys that could be used in the dead spirits crisis or concocting healing potions.
Once the current circumstances were reported, it would only add more stress to the Creation Master.
Nonetheless, Zuo Ming believed that he needed to bring this matter up!
Moreover, he needed to ask Chief Guard Ye to contact the Moon Empress so this matter could be regarded as one of the highest priorities!
There were an endless number of dead spirits surging out of the Dead Spirits Wells, but there were not unlimited troops in the Radiance Federation.
If the issue of the death aura was not addressed, the Radiance Federation would not last even a decade.
Suddenly, a blue beast-shaped dead spirit that was almost four meters long spewed flames comprising of death aura at an emperor-class expert.
Half of the emperor-class expert’s lion-species fey’s body was burnt to a crisp. A large amount of death aura entered the emperor-class expert’s fey’s body.
Zuo Ming immediately killed this dead spirit that was the equivalent of a pinnacle Creation Breed fey.
This was the first emperor-class expert injury of the day! Zuo Ming hurriedly sent someone to take the emperor-class expert’s fey to the healing team so it could be healed.
At this juncture, every emperor-class expert and thearch-class expert were extremely precious.
If the emperor-class experts and thearch-class experts’ feys died, the emperor-class and thearch-class experts’ spiritual energy would be damaged.
If that happened, it would take a long time before the emperor- class and thearch-class experts could return to battle.
Zuo Ming personally killed numerous beast-shaped dead spirits that were the equivalent of Creation Breed feys.
He realized the beast-shaped dead spirits could emulate elemental energy using death aura.
The elemental energy emulated from death aura could affect the elements just like regular elemental energy. 2
When the attacks made contact with a living creature, their deadliness came from the death aura contaminating and decaying the body.
It was difficult for healing-type feys to heal such injuries. The healing type had already told Zuo Ming about this numerous times. If humans, or rather all living creatures, wanted to tackle the dead spirits, they would need to nurture feys that could effectively heal bodies that were infected with death aura.
Zuo Ming had noted down all of these discoveries. The dead spirits crisis had only just begun. Now was the time to discover issues and find ways to fix them.
Zuo Ming rubbed his temples. His mind was more exhausted than his body was.
At this moment, Zuo Ming’s subordinate, who had only just left, came running back.
Zuo Ming furrowed his brow. He thought that something had happened to the healing team.
The healing team had already reported numerous problems to him, all of which he had noted down.
The only way to address the issue would be for the Creation Masters to nurture appropriate feys and hand them out to be contracted by the healing-type spirit qi professionals.
The issue would naturally solve itself once the healing-type spirit qi professionals began nurturing the feys that could heal death aura- related injuries.
“Lord Zuo Ming, Lord Lin Yuan say that he wants to come and take a look at the Dead Spirits Wells, as well as deliver resources. You...”
Before his subordinate could finish speaking, he was interrupted by Zuo Ming, “Elder Qiu, if Lord Lin Yuan wants to come to check on the Dead Spirits Wells, why didn’t you just bring him over? What was the point of reporting this to me? Did you think that I would turn Lord Lin Yuan down?”
Zuo Ming saw Lin Yuan for the first time at the Guard Ye Banquet. Zuo Ming saw Lin Yuan as a junior, just like how he saw Liu Jie. However, he would never dare to treat Lin Yuan like a junior!
Zuo Ming was not alone. No one in the entire Radiance Federation would dare to treat Lin Yuan like a junior!
Lin Yuan was the world’s true savior in this dead spirits crisis. Zuo Ming did not know how Lin Yuan managed to create such a miracle at his young age. But this did not get in the way of him feeling admiration for Lin Yuan.
Elder Qiu could not help but scratch his head awkwardly.
“I was going to bring Lord Lin Yuan over, but he said that he wanted to observe the procedures of battle. You are the commander. He told me to come to report to you! I couldn’t go against his wishes.”
Elder Qiu spoke with praise and respect for Lin Yuan. Anyone who had ever been to battle knew that only one commander could wield absolute authority.
Yet, in spite of his young age, Lin Yuan was not only aware of this but even knew how to act accordingly.
This was enough to show his exceptional character! Zuo Ming urged anxiously, “Now, you have come to ask me. Go and bring Lord Lin Yuan over here now!”
Elder Qiu rolled his eyes. He had been with Zuo Ming for such a long time. They had worked together for decades. But this was the first time that he had seen Zuo Ming in such an anxious state!
It was likely that Zuo Ming had many things that he wanted to report to Lin Yuan.
This thought pained Elder Qiu. Once Lord Zuo Ming reported the situation to Lin Yuan, the stress would be shifted onto Lin Yuan’s shoulders.
Damn that Tower Canon! Why did they have to go and try to destroy the world?
Even if they had a means of tackling the dead spirits crisis, many lifeforms would have to lose their lives during the transition to the sixth epoch!
When Lin Yuan followed Elder Qiu to the Dead Spirits Wells, he could sense the extremely high concentration of death aura around him.
Luckily, Weng Queji had nurtured the Dead Decay Earthworms. In the past two days, the Dead Decay Earthworms had already been bred at a rapid rate.
Lin Yuan had come to check on the Dead Spirits Wells because he wanted to gain an understanding of the dead spirits crisis. If he found that the humans were not sufficiently equipped to handle the dead spirits crisis, he would do what he could to help them.
Additionally, he wanted to put the first batch of Dead Decay Earthworms to use and see if they could help address the issue of the death aura. If the Dead Decay Earthworms could not achieve the intended effect, there would be no point in nurturing them.
Lin Yuan asked the gray-haired man next to him, “How many injuries and deaths have there been in the past day?”
