2679 Selections Begin! Liu Hao was not satisfied with being the manager of Star Web’s reporters for the rest of his life.
If he performed well in this job, he should be promoted to become the sixth manager of Star Web, making him the head honcho of Star Web!
“Ningning, you have been working under me for some time now. I’m sure you have noticed how I have always taken good care of you. I am assigning such an important task to you and even sent four teams to assist you
“You must do a good job. Do not disappoint me! If you encounter any problems, let me know immediately, and I’ll handle it myself! Young people are always slightly reckless. Don’t overextend yourself!”
Liu Hao knew that Tian Ningning was smart. She would definitely be able to understand his meaning. Given her intelligence, she would know what the right course of action would be.
His joining of the team did not affect Tian Ningning negatively at all. Rather, he was a form of insurance.
Tian Ningning was momentarily stunned before she said seriously, “Big Brother Hao, it is a little much for someone as young as me to be leading even one special team. Something will probably go awry while I’m leading the five special teams! I know you trust me, but I would still like for you to be present. That will give me more confidence to make bolder decisions!”
Tian Ningning had been a Star Web reporter for three years. With her talent and capabilities, it would be a breeze for her to lead a special team and complete the task. As long as she had sufficient manpower to allocate, there was nothing that was impossible.
Tian Ningning only said this because she had picked up on the hints that Liu Hao was giving her.
Given that he was the biggest boss amongst the Star Web reporters, Tian Ningning needed to extend the proper courtesies to him.
Furthermore, his joining was enough to show just how important this matter was to Star Web. It was a job that would benefit Lin Yuan.
There was no reason for Tian Ningning to refuse. From now on, whatever happened in the future, Star Web would inject resources into her team first to ensure that they could produce the best reports.
Liu Hao glanced at Tian Ningning, and his smile widened. She really was clever!
Liu Hao really liked communicating with smart people like Tian Ningning. He did not have to make everything explicit and only needed to raise the key points!
With Tian Ningning’s intelligence and her link to Lin Yuan, Liu Hao decided to make her his close subordinate and do his best to elevate her in the future. Her abilities had already been proven. Out of all the Star Web reporters, she was already ahead of the pack.
“Since you put it that way, I shall be the main lead for this team. However, you will have the decision-making power when it comes to following up and collating the progress of the event. Go ahead and do what you think is right. As long as you do well, the job of the manager of Star Web’s reporters will be yours next year!”
Tian Ningning did not care about these. All she wanted was to do a good job of being Lin Yuan’s exclusive reporter.
The special team that she had been leading had been organizing all the information related to the dead spirits crisis. This was a job that Tian Ningning found to be very meaningful.
After the information about the dead spirits was organized, the low-rank spirit qi professionals would not be completely helpless when they faced the dead spirits.
... Because of the high priority that the Radiance Federation placed on keeping the regular people safe, there were very few citizen casualties in the cities, even if the most remote ones, as long as no dimensional rifts opened.
But even if dimensional rifts did open, the city’s City Guards would immediately send experts to fight as well as provide medical treatment.
It could be said that the Radiance Federation had been living in relative peace and prosperity.
This did not mean much in Lin Yuan’s previous world, but this was a very rare culture in the world of feys.
In this regard, the Radiance Federation did a better job than both the Azure Federation and Freedom Federation!
Star Web, which was created by the coordinated abilities of three sacred source lifeforms, made the lives of the regular people even better and created a second world for the Radiance Federation.
The biggest change to take place in the Radiance Federation came from the opening of the Class 6 abyss dimensional rift as it led to the Radiance Federation’s royalty ordering the cities’ City Lords to build mirror cities in the Class 6 abyss dimensional rift.
People were always at least a little afraid of the unknown. This especially applied to the powerless and those who struggled to survive.
But just because they were afraid did not mean that they were stupid. It did not take long for them to understand why the members of royalty wanted to build mirror cities in the abyssal world.
The Radiance Federation’s territory was vast and had an abundance of resources. However, as adventurers continued to explore and harvest resources, the Radiance Federation’s resource endowment eventually fell. Although many of these resources were renewable, it would take time.
As the Radiance Federation’s dwindling resources continued to be harvested, the adventurers’ wages would fall, and the price of Creation Master resources would rise. Once the price of Creation Master resources increased, the cost of living for the Radiance Federation’s citizens would increase as well.
The best choice now would be to expand the territory and begin harvesting resources from the new areas.
The only issue had been the factions that made their living from fire-type spiritual ingredients. They had been severely impacted by the construction of the mirror cities in the abyssal world.
The Radiance Federation’s Cultivated Garden decided not to provide aid to these factions that were losing out due to the changing times. Rather, they opened up a new path for them by making them their business partners. As a result, they were developing better than they were before.
As the mirror cities in the abyssal world were constructed, more and more of the Radiance Federation’s citizens moved to the abyssal world. They brought with them many industries that supported even more livelihoods.
This was a positive structural change. Once the Radiance Federation crossed the initial slightly uncomfortable adjustment period, it would be able to thrive and grow in new ways.
However, the dead spirits crisis was not a structural change. It was only a catastrophe.
Although there had been warnings before this catastrophe, even rising factions struggled to deal with the dead spirits crisis, much less individual people.
Death aura poured out from the Dead Spirits Wells endlessly and claimed life after life.
This was an issue that Lin Yuan and the Radiance Federation’s royalty worked tirelessly to address.
The dead spirits had not been going on for very long, but it had already caused widespread damage that threatened to collapse the Radiance Federation.
The situation was only contained after Wen Yu sent the demon insects into battle. For now, the danger of this calamity had been mostly neutralized.
At this moment, Radiance Sacred Hall announced that they were going to hold the Radiance Hundred Sequence selection. The Radiance Knight and Radiance Envoy selections would also be brought forward.
This would be the grandest event in the Radiance Federation, and it immediately caught the attention of all of the Radiance Federation’s citizens.
Moreover, Chef Supreme had planted the Soldier Ration Radishes in various cities so the Radiance Federation’s citizens could all claim the Soldier Ration Radishes’ leaves to fill their stomachs.
Cultivated Garden had also distributed a mountain of resources while the Land Imps continued laying down the metal-type stone boards and fortifying houses.
All of this was part of rebuilding the Radiance Federation. As Star Web continued to release reports, the Radiance Federation’s citizens became more and more excited for this selection.
Lin Yuan could sense that many of the glowing dots of faith in the fountain of faith in the divine kingdom were growing larger.
Lin Yuan had only become a member of the Radiance Hundred Sequence last year. Since then, he had been extremely busy and had not participated in any of the Radiance Hundred Sequence’s meetings. Thus, many of the Radiance Hundred Sequence’s members were strangers to him.
Although he did not know them, none of them were unfamiliar with him. He might only be Sequence #91, but the other members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence all saw him as having colossal power! He had even killed a Freedom Envoy!
Not even Chief Guard Ye’s disciple, Liu Jie, or Xia Qing possessed such abilities.
The Radiance Hundred Sequence’s members were all very excited to watch the battle between Lin Yuan and Liu Jie, as well as between Lin Yuan and Xia Qing. It would definitely be an eye-opening experience.
All of them were the cream of the crop and had grown in the past year. They wanted to see just how large the gap between themselves and Liu Jie, Lin Yuan, and the rest was.
Liu Wencheng sat on the main seat and smiled at Lin Yuan before nodding.
Next, he turned his gaze to Liu Jie.
He already knew that Night Leaning Moon wanted to use Liu Jie to unleash the ‘final weapon’ plan, but Liu Wencheng had never approved of this because Night Leaning Moon’s ‘final weapon’ plan asked too much of a spirit qi professional and it was difficult for a regular person to meet this standard.
Moreover, taking control of carcinoma feys was akin to dancing with death. If there were any accidents that caused the carcinoma feys to break free and lose control, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Many insect-species carcinoma feys did not seem scary before they had the chance to multiply and spread. But once they were able to expand into an army, they could potentially cause as much damage to the main world as the dead spirits!
It was when Liu Jie represented the Radiance Federation to battle the Freedom Envoys that Liu Wencheng found out that Liu Jie had perfectly accomplished the ‘final weapon’ plan that Night Leaning Moon had designed.
Not only could he command many carcinoma feys in battle, but he had a high degree of control over them. It was impossible for them to break free of his control.
The heart of the plan was the Insect Queen that Liu Jie had contracted. Once it died, the carcinoma feys would follow it in death.
This was both Liu Jie’s Achilles’ heel and his strength. Once he died, so would the Insect Queen, and the carcinoma feys would not be able to go rampant and bring forth a disaster!
By being willing to undertake the responsibility of turning himself into the ultimate weapon, Liu Jie truly deserved the title Heart of Insect Swarm!
Once the last members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence arrived, Liu Wencheng stood up and said solemnly, “Normally, the reranking is a private affair. But this time, it will be broadcast publicly on Star Web. All of you can make your preparations now. Later, we will enter the location specially designed by Star Web’s officials for our challenges. Every person will have three challenges.
“Mu Yan, who is Sequence #100, will go first. In the end, just like in the past, Sequence #90 to Sequence #100 will enter a simulated space to compete with the new generation of Radiance Hundred Sequence members.
“The top 90 ranks will each receive a Bronze/Legend fey that suits the Willpower Rune they have comprehended. If any of you have any secret weapons, take them out now. If you are found to be hiding them later, it will cost you a place among the top 90, and you will have to bear the losses yourselves!”
When the members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence heard what Liu Wencheng said, they first bowed to him before they all entered Star Web together.
None of them expected this year’s Radiance Hundred Sequence selection and reranking to have such prizes!
There were no prizes in the previous Radiance Hundred Sequence selections and rerankings. All they received was some money and subsequent monthly wages in the form of resources. But all of the money and resources summed up would not be equivalent to the value of a Bronze/Legend fey.
Bronze/Legend feys were a specialty of Class 5 Creation Masters. Moreover, these Bronze/Legend feys would be custom-made to their individual Willpower Runes.
Many of the members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence came from elite families, but few had ever received such a gift!
Even Long Tao’s breathing picked up. While Liu Wencheng was making these promises, his gaze drifted towards Lin Yuan.
It was likely that all these resources would be coming from Lin Yuan. The Moon Empress was capable of supplying such resources, but she was fully focused on dealing with the death aura and would not have the time to tailor Bronze/Legend feys for the members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence.
Lin Yuan caught Liu Wencheng looking at him and gently pursed his lips.
It was true that Lin Yuan was the one providing these resources to the Radiance Hundred Sequence, but this was only the beginning. In the future, he would be providing even more resources to the best talents of the Radiance Federation to help them grow rapidly!
Lin Yuan intended to use his abilities and store of resources to help the Radiance Federation and main world to achieve true prosperity before he left. This was the only way he would be able to leave for the Sky Beyond the Clouds with his mind at ease.
Once the members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence entered Star Web, all of them were fired up with passion. They would not allow themselves to be kicked out of the top 90 ranks!
All of them had witnessed last year’s Radiance Hundred Sequence participate in the survival live drill.
In the face of the ocean of dimensional lifeforms, an individual’s strength was negligible.
A person’s power was only partly effective. Even the members of the Radiance Hundred Sequence who were fully confident in their capabilities dared not be certain that they would be able to stay in the Radiance Hundred Sequence through the reranking after being pushed out from the top 90 ranks.
Moreover, every intelligent person knew that the true threat to the main world now was not dimensional lifeforms but dead spirits.
The dimensional lifeforms were now the humans’ allies in taking on the dead spirits.
So, it was unlikely that they would be facing dimensional lifeforms during this survival live drill. Instead, they would be facing dead spirits that released death aura!
