2674 The Amazing Demon Insects! Keira had never heard of the idiom ‘every potter praises his own pot’ but that was exactly what she was doing at the moment.
However, while the potter could not guarantee that every pot would be of the same quality, Keira could ensure the strength of the demon insects.
To the lifeforms in the main world, the dead world crisis was a calamity. But to Keira, there was nothing special about the dead world crisis. This was not because she was aloof to the plight of the main world but because she had seen too many similar events in the Sky Beyond the Clouds. Thus, these circumstances were not cause for much interest to her.
The demon insects could easily produce a branch species that was capable of creating such an event.
Wen Yu and Liu Jie, who were standing behind Lin Yuan, did not trust this strange and boastful lifeform. What she was saying sounded almost too good to be true, to the point that it was likely a scam!
Lin Yuan was silent for a moment before he said to Keira seriously, “Keira, if your demon insects can help to solve my issue, I will enable you, or rather the demon insects, to evolve. Come with me. It will soon be time for you to dazzle with your true abilities!”
Lin Yuan could sense Keira’s confidence. Her self-assurance gave him significant ease.
The demon insects were much more intelligent than humans. If Keira did not have absolute confidence, she would not have made such claims. She was well aware of the price that she would have to pay for lying to Lin Yuan. With their contract in place, he could easily eliminate her and put an end to the demon insects.
Keira had witnessed the impact of the dead spirits crisis on the alien insect world.
The boundary between the alien insect world and main world had a much more serious outbreak of dead spirits than here around one of the Radiance Federation’s Dead Spirits Wells.
Keira mentioned that the demon insects had a glittering battle record back at the Sky Beyond the Clouds. He prayed that the demon insects could recreate their success from the Sky Beyond the Clouds and bring salvation to the main world.
Lin Yuan released the Kill Food Sky Butterfly. Keira did not use any other demon insect eggs. She led the five female demon insects and quickly climbed onto the Kill Food Sky Butterfly’s back.
Wen Yu said to Lin Yuan seriously, “Young Master, let me and Big Brother Liu come with you! Ever since the dead spirits crisis began, all I’ve been doing is organizational work.
“My knowledge of the dead spirits crisis is solely based on data and information that was reported to me. I haven’t seen and experienced the dead spirits personally. I can use this opportunity to collect even more data!”
Lin Yuan nodded. He had also intended to take Liu Jie and Wen Yu with him.
They might not be able to provide much help, but it was necessary for them to understand what the main world was currently facing. Otherwise, they could make mistakes in the instructions they gave out.
Given the dead dimensional lifeforms’ impact on the main world, it was clear that Tower Canon had intended for the invasion of the dead dimensional lifeforms to be a lethal move. However, they had not anticipated Keira’s presence.
If they had anticipated Keira’s presence and were capable of putting up a defense, they would have already done all they could to kill her.
With just a few flaps of its wings, the Kill Food Sky Butterfly arrived at the Dead Spirits Well in Area C33.
The Moon Empress and Cicada Song had come together and moved all of the Radiance Federation’s soldiers to the Dead Spirits Well at Area C32.
Despite it clearly being the middle of the afternoon, a moon appeared in the sky.
The moonbeams were like a waterfall that fell in a 50-kilometer radius around the Dead Spirits Well at Area C33 and trapped all the dead spirits within. If any of the dead spirits within tried to pass through the cage of moonbeams, they would be instantly vaporized by the moonbeams. The moonbeams also cleansed the death aura.
The Moon Empress herself was worth millions of troops, and she could ensure that this Dead Spirits Well was no longer affecting the environment around it or endangering the citizens in the area.
But human strength was limited. Millions of troops could secure tens of Dead Spirits Wells, but the Moon Empress could not.
The Moon Empress needed to use her own energy to create the moon in the sky and unleash moonbeams.
If she was capable of holding down the fort on her own, she would not be as troubled by the dead spirits crisis as she was!
Although the Moon Empress had attained an endless lifespan after contracting the Lifespan Mouse, she would be willing to give up her immortality if it meant that she would be able to save the Radiance Federation! From the first day she became a Radiance Envoy, the Moon Empress had been ready to lay down her life for the Radiance Federation.
The Moon Empress sensed the number of dead spirits that were trapped by the moonbeams and let out a deep sigh.
This was just one day’s worth of dead spirits and death aura from one Dead Spirits Well.
This was not the first time that the Moon Empress was stepping in to take control of a Dead Spirits Well. There were numerous instances where the Dead Spirits Wells had shown signs of collapsing, and the Moon Empress had to step in to handle the situation.
She could clearly notice that the weekly quantity of the dead spirits bursting out from the Dead Spirits Wells had increased! The dead spirits were now surging from the Dead Spirits Wells at around 1.3 times their initial rate.
This allowed the Moon Empress to confirm one thing, which was that the dead spirits were being awakened slowly and would be emerging in waves.
This would continuously increase the pressure on the Radiance Federation’s troops that were stationed around the Dead Spirits Wells. It was possible that the metal-type stone boards would eventually crack.
To prevent the metal-type stone boards from eventually breaking, the Radiance Federation could not stop building more of the Dead Spirits Wells.
Could the Radiance Federation really handle all that pressure? The Moon Empress could not remember the last time she felt this helpless.
The Moon Empress never liked relying on others. However, given the circumstances, she had no choice but to place all her hopes in Lin Yuan.
When the Moon Empress turned to look behind her, she saw Lin Yuan riding the Kill Food Sky Butterfly toward her.
She waved at him. It was only when the Kill Food Sky Butterfly got nearer that the Moon Empress spotted Keira and the five bizarre female demon insects.
Lin Yuan bowed at the Moon Empress and Cicada Song before getting right to the point, “Master, open a hole in the cage of moonbeams that the dead spirits can pass through. This will allow me to test my plan out!”
This was not the first time that Cicada Song was meeting Lin Yuan. But every time they made contact, his impression of Lin Yuan was refreshed.
It could be said that Cicada Song had watched Lin Yuan grow up. However, Lin Yuan’s growth had not been characterized by steps but by leaps and bounds. Each jump was extremely wide.
This young man in front of him might have already surpassed him in power long ago.
Nonetheless, Lin Yuan was still humble and respectful toward him. This was a very rare virtue for a young man!
Although Cicada Song was very composed and unshakable now, his youth had been wild.
With a wave of the Moon Empress’ hand, the moon in the sky lit up, and the ribbons of moonbeams slowly parted like a curtain.
The sea of dead spirits enveloped in death aura charged out. Lin Yuan’s heart skipped a beat with initial shock before he said to Keira, “Keira, it’s time for you to perform!”
Keira’s lips twitched. She wondered if Lin Yuan had misunderstood something.
She asked Lin Yuan to test these five female insects’ powers. Why did he bring them here? How was this enough to test the five female insects? She wanted to show off for Lin Yuan, but he had provided her with such a small stage.
She felt that he was underestimating her. Did he think so little of the demon insects’ power?
Keira felt that it was necessary for her to prove what the demon insects could do.
But regardless of how daring she was, Keira would never dare to speak against Lin Yuan.
With this thought, Keira said despondently to the female insect next to her, “Doom, send out an offspring with a Class 3 Genetic Lock to handle these dead spirits and death aura! Remember to do a good jog. Not even a hint of death aura can be allowed to remain!”
Keira scrunched her nose.
“The death aura around here is of a relatively high concentration. While you’re at it, cleanse all the death aura in the area!”
The female insects that Keira had produced were of a similar intelligence to her.
Being a highly intelligent lifeform, Doom knew of the best way to demonstrate her abilities.
Since Keira had picked her first, this was a prime opportunity for her to prove herself.
Just like Keira was trying her best to get Lin Yuan to acknowledge her, the female insects that Keira had produced were also trying to win her trust and affection.
In a family with many children, regardless of how fair the parents tried to be, it was inevitable for there to be favorites.
Doom raised one of her spidery legs up, and a hair as long as her leg shot out. A purple and black egg shot out from the area where the hair was connected to her leg.
The egg shot into the sea of dead spirits. At this instant, Lin Yuan, the Moon Empress, Cicada Song, Wen Yu, and Liu Jie could sense that the sea of dead spirits was waning.
When they took a closer look, they saw that every dead spirit had a purple and black maggot that was around a centimeter long on it. The maggots were gobbling the dead spirits’ bodies and bones at an almost unimaginable rate.
It was as though the sea of dead spirits was being eaten and swallowed.
The dead spirits that the Moon Empress had trapped for some time could not catch up to the rate at which the millions of maggots were eating them.
Once the maggots were done eating the dead spirits, many of them crawled into the Dead Spirits Well.
The ever-cool-headed Moon Empress and Cicada Song could not stop their jaws from dropping. They found it hard to believe that the annihilation of so many dead spirits had come from a spider lifeform merely lifting its leg.
The insect lifeform that Lin Yuan had called Keira had mentioned an offspring that had a Class 3 Genetic Lock.
If this insect lifeform was like the alien insects, there should also be offspring with Class 2 and Class 1 Genetic Locks that had even more powerful genes.
At this instant, hope sparked to life in the Moon Empress and Cicada Song’s eyes.
It was at this moment that the black and purple maggots ran out of dead spirits to consume and began eating each other.
This reminded Lin Yuan of a game in his previous life called Eat Fish.
The maggots grew visibly larger each time they ate one of their counterparts. Soon, they turned into half-meter-long cocoons.
All of this happened in the blink of an eye. The insects worked like a rapid machine.
Eventually, the ground was covered with over 4000 cocoons that were around half a meter long.
Less than 30 seconds later, the cocoons broke open, and a spider lifeform that was slightly smaller than the mother insect crawled out. They let out piercing screeches as though they were heralding their new life.
Soon, it was as though the death aura permeating the air was being attracted as they entered the demon insects’ bodies.
The demon insects drank up the death aura in the air, and the death aura became their source of energy.
The newly born demon insects with Class 3 Genetic Locks were extremely capable of absorbing death aura. The Moon Empress could sense that all the death aura in a 50-kilometer radius was quickly being pulled to this spot.
The spider lifeforms were gathered together now, but they would be able to make just as large of an impact when they spread out. This meant that as long as there was one of these insects in a 50-kilometer radius, there was no need to be concerned about there being death aura present in the area.
This was much more effective than using the Dead Decay Earthworms to cleanse the death aura!
Keira glared at Doom. She was not very satisfied with Doom’s performance. This was because Doom had not prevented the first few demon insects from being consumed. Otherwise, there would have been one to two times more of the newly born demon insects with Class 3 Genetic Locks.
If Lin Yuan was dissatisfied with her demon insect genes because of this, it would be extremely bad for Keira!
Lin Yuan would have opportunities to take control of other demon insect queens when he went to the Sky Beyond the Clouds.
Based on Keira’s gaze, Doom realized that she had been careless. As Keira’s offspring, Doom did not even have the right to rebuke her.
Keira could kill these female insects she had produced with just as much ease as Lin Yuan could do to her.
In order to prove the demon insects’ value, Keira hurriedly said, “Master, some of the demon insects have gone beneath the Dead Spirits Well. They are reproducing there. A few demon insects with Class 3 Genetic Locks can form a miniature colony.
“As long as none of the dead spirits that appear are overly strong, they won’t be able to make it out from the Dead Spirits Well! Doom only used one egg that she had prepared in advance. There weren’t enough dead spirits here for the insects to consume, so they had no choice but to reproduce through consuming each other.
“If the number of dead spirits is increased by ten times and is accompanied by a large amount of death aura and dead dimensional lifeforms, the demon insects will truly be able to demonstrate our capabilities.
“If you want to test the demon insects’ abilities, I hope you can bring me to the boundary between one of the dimensional worlds and this Class 2 world. It is only at a place like that that the demon insects will be able to properly perform!”
Keira spoke with an anxious tone, but she had not lost any of her confidence.
However, Wen Yu and Liu Jie no longer felt that she was boasting. The two of them had only just managed to recover from their stupefaction.
